Several things : -The Tito-Stalin breakup of Yugoslavia and the USSR was in 1948 and not 1949. -During the Cuban missile crisis missiles were mostly removed from Turkey, and they were outdated anyway. -France never left NATO, they left the military block. -The arms race started well before the 1980s.

That was a secret deal, (removal of missiles from Turkey) which did not come to light until at least 20 years later. They were removed from Turkey, but to cover up the secret deal, it was stated that the missiles were "outdated" .

Geo History Stalin and Churchill agreed that Greece remains in Western spheere of Influence, not Soviet spheere. So Stalin left the Greek Communists to fend for themselves. Yugoslavs supported Greek Communists to estsblish the Balkan bloc (Yugoslavia, Albania, Bulgaria and Greece), but Tito-Soviet split and Greek integration in to NATO put onsticles and Idea of Balkan bloc failed.

I think you missed Ceausescu's Romania's separation from the USSR area of influence by 1968. They were communists but not USSR allies anymore. The Hungarian Revolution in 1958 and the soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1968 are something worth to mention as well.

Will never forget how the United States backed Pakistan during the Bengali Liberation War where Pakistan was committing the worst genocide since the Holocaust. India and the Soviet Union came to Bengali aid during the crisis and eventually it lead to Bangladesh becoming an independent nation. It doesn’t excuse the Soviet Union from their atrocities however.

Impressive work, putting 45 years of geopolitical events in an under 10 minute video, but there is one big problem with this format: it oversimpliefies the whole cold war. The Korean Conflict, the Vietnam war, the African decolonisation and the Afghan war are mentioned in such a way that it doesn't cover their real cause or the whole outcome. Also important treaties like SALT1 and Nixons visit to China are totally ignored. Still amazing work, just the format isnt the best for such a long period of complicated geopolitical events.

Originally, I made a comment about Chernobyl and how it was a root cause of the collapse of the soviet collapse. However, it seems like I can't find a good source to either confirm or decline these statements. So just disreguard the original comment (Below) The original comment: Might've been a good idea to also talk about Chernobyl. Chernobyl, for anyone who is unaware, was the largest civilian nuclear disaster in history. Radioactive fallout from the explosion in Pripyat was able to travel all the way to New Jersey, and hundreds of thousands died from Radiation Poisoning. The key thing about this, however, was that, because of how much the USSR tried to cover it up, it ultimately became a factor in the breakup of the USSR.

Get ya facts straight, troll. "Hundreds of thousands" did not die from Chernobyl, even if you count cancer deaths suspectedly caused from it in the last 25 years. International studies say about 4,000 have directly died and the UN estimates 40,00 adversely affected with radiation. Yes, more were relocated and suffered lifestyle losses. And Chernobyl was NOT a factor in the USSR dissolution. That is a piece of Western propaganda. It arose from (depending on who you believe) a series of political decisions made by Gorbachev and the Supreme Council of the time, and then Yeltsin's arrival. They admit to that themselves. Do some research and stop exaggerating for propaganda bullshit.

@@apisd8455 ??? USSR and PRC had border conflicts. In 1971 Nixon sent Kissinger to PRC; they were on the same page about USSR threat. In 1979 PRC and USA established office diplomatic relationship after a few years in UN. PRC & USSR tensión only started to ease in middle 1980s.
