Neither the Lightyear movie or Buzz Lightyear of Star Command t.v. show or movie were meant to be cannon to the toy story timeline because they are both supposed to be of the Buzz Lightyear franchise for the in universe of the Toy Story movie series just as they are part of the Toy Story franchise to us. My personal lore is as follows: Lightyear (2022) originally came out in late 1994 and became Andy's favorite movie. He got the action figure on his birthday in the middle of 1995, while Disney were finishing up drastic changes. This first film was retconned for being too "bland and confusing" and the universe was replaced with the BLoSC universe beginning in early 1995 a few months before Andy's birthday, when the first comic books were released. This is why Andy got the more cartoonish Buzz action figure. The 2000s TV series took place in the 2000s like IRL, and in 2022, Disney would remaster Lightyear on Disney+ with no plans to release BLoSC at this time

My theory is that the cartoon is years after Lightyear as none of his crew are there (maybe they went off and started a new branch of star command) and then the Zurg from the cartoon is the REAL Zurg that old man buzz stole the armor from (and secretly buzz dad) and that will be explored in Lightyear 2

Perhaps there was a Buzz Lightyear comic series started it all. Then the movie came out followed by the animated series. The Buzz Lightyear figure is actually based off the comic book look. The movie pays homage to comic suit at the end of the film, and the animated series simplified the suit design so they could animate easier.

13:37 Alisha died of old age. Lightyear is a fucking kids movie LMAO. You don’t have to think that deeply about it. When Alisha is saying goodbye to Buzz she says that she won’t be alive when Buzz is back and than she says that she has gotten very old, which implies that the reason she died was because she was old. The reason they don’t say what killed her is because they expect us to know she died of old age, and in the Buzz Lightyear of Star Command animated series we learn that Buzz has been part of Star Command for a little over 20 years meaning that he’s is in his 40s and during the opening of Lightyear Buzz asks Alisha how long has she known that Buzz narrated and her response is. “Forever. Since you and I were cadets.” And cadet means rookie and rookie means that you are in your first year of something that means Buzz and Alisha joined Star Command at the same time therefore they are both in there 40s and when Alisha dies it has been more than 60 years since the beginning of the movie takes place and each time Buzz comes back from his hyper speed test flights for him it is 4 minutes but for everyone back on the planet it’s 4 years later due to the temporal distortion of hyper speed and Alisha went with Buzz on 4 of his test flights and 4x4=16 so Alisha has aged 40+ years when she dies and if in her 40s when she was 40 years younger than she is in her 80s so if was in her 80s or older when dies and the movie doesn’t tell us what actually ended up killing her we’re inclined to believe that she died of old age.🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️also yeah, Sox took 62 years to figure out the fuel problem, not 63 years.

I swear as a kid, I spammed TS1 through Star Command to death. Don't think I saw much of the SC show, but the movie? Had that sucker on VHS and watched it like crazy. Same with the first two TS movies. I find it harder to do this with the streaming service, though. XD Plus I would spam Lightyear just for Mega Zurg. And of course, SC isn't on Disney+ so yeah...May have to find eps on YT. I saw some before.

Sorry but I don't believe the whole "Lightyear came first" in the lore timeline. We need to remember, the cartoon was shown on VHS in universe thanks to the toy story scenes before the cartoon's premiere. Ergo for Lightyear to work, disney would have to bring back that VHS media. So VCR compatible devices would need to be re-released. As well as re release the cartoon on VHS to make the lore make sense. Combine that with the fact that, the era the toy story movies took place during a time where certain elements weren't as accepted. The lightyear movie would not have been shown to andy as a kid, well unless she was neglecting or abusive towards him.
