This is not a good representation of the Delta One service. I know the first class experience in US carriers doesn’t not compare to other countries first class carried but I suggest you do a comparison on longer flights, specially a flight with an A350 or any Europe route out of ATL. Delta doesn’t consider Bogota a true Delta One experience. COVID has also changed things A LOT. Delta would have NEVER served you your meal in just one plate. It usually consists of 4 courses with even dessert karts rolling down the isle. Please give them another chance when all this pandemic ends

You don't get the a359 or the b772 or even the b764 on certain long haul routes. even the a333 is nice but routes such as jfk-bog or some routes from jfk to europe only use the b763 which sucks!

My biggest complaint is Delta using their 763 from JFK to LAX. I like Delta, but they are the worst way to get from JFK to LAX compared to United’s Polaris, American’s A321 first, and JetBlue’s mint suite.

As a DM, I can tell you this video is super fair. Delta has more 767 than another other aircraft in its widebody fleet, so this is very representative of a random flight experience. The renovated 777 was already retired, so we are left with non-reno 767-300, 767-400, non-reno 330ceo as dominate types, with a small handful of 330neo and 350. I do like the new cabin a lot but it does not discount the validity of this video you will run into this depicted experiences quite often.

@@_w_w_ I agree with you! However, As he stated in the video, he actively knows this is the old product. In some form or another each US global carrier has a very crappy product still in operation.......Americans crappy first class product that they use in some of their 777s still....United business in operation on most the 787..... Each of these carriers have their good and bad, and they deploy these aircraft strategically. Just the video seems a bit negatively biased. Not excusing this experience, but I've been on the new retrofitted 767, and this video definitely makes it seem as though this is the standard. Just an observation.

@@CVON12 I think AA started the fleet renewal before others. Their widebody now only consist of new 787 and 777. AA has domestic/regional 777 with no IFE but the plane and seat itself are rather new. United is the same with perhap a few more of the older cabin in the mix. Delta has far more old cabins than new cabins. I am a very frequent flyer, so I no longer fuss to much about IFE as there are not enough new content. Delta's own DFP IFE has a lot of issues - they even messed up on the USB charging port. The DFP SW is buggy enough that they are not able to run on a lot of flights - which equates to no IFE in my book. Delta's 330ceo has a while to go before they are due for new cabin. After the 767, 330ceo is the next largest widebody fleet type, so I think I am super fair and accurate in saying new long haul cabin is less likely to happen on Delta. Maybe by 2025 when all 767-300 are out, then we will have higher chance of newer cabins.

About 3 months ago, I flew Delta One back to back on the 767-400 Retrofit and the 767-300. These were domestic flights, but they were very nice cabins! Great Trip Report!

Delta are great. I flew them from Amsterdam to Seattle on my way home from Afghanistan. They were absolutely, hands down, the best service I have ever received in an airline, and this was in economy class. The entire crew signed a card for me. They came back to me to check on me non-stop, they brought back better food. I can’t explain it, it was just the best service, and I fly a lot, even in business. I am supposed to fly LAX to JFK on Delta at the end of July... Business.. So thank you for showing us this. I love your videos. I had a great experience as well. If they hadnt been so gracious and caring,I would have had hell getting home from Germany. Of all the airlines I have flown,Delta went far beyond what anyone could have asked for. I had been injured in Germany,at my hotel and they had an attendant arrive to take the airport in a van cab,who stayed with me until I made it onto the plane. Then,when I got to Phoenix,they had someone there to assist me. They even made sure I got home ok. Delta is my favorite airlines,with Lufthansa coming in second.Lufthansa had our meals served on porcelain plates. The food was very nice,as was the attendants attitudes. Oh,and the plane I flew in on Delta had large plush seats. I dont remember which model it was though.It was huge. This was 7 years ago,so perhaps someone might know what plane it could have been. (Sorry this got kind of long,but I do love Delta.) :}

I was concerned about my checked luggage as some of it was fragile, they were very good, along with the other Sky Team carriers, in ensuring it arrived safely. Best airline in the USA, in my humble opinion. I was a fan of Lufthansa, but my latest experiences with them have been less than desirable. Memorable, yes, but desirable, I don't think so.

@@xScooterAZx I went through a period where I didn't fly, and in that time, they informed me that if I wanted to maintain my frequent flyer account, I would have to pay them 500 Euros, which I didn't have, so they shut my account down and my milage accrual was gone. Another incident which disgusted me was in business class, flight from Frankfurt to San Francisco: a woman upon boarding, older woman: asked a completely able-bodied flight attendant for assistance in putting her bag in the overhead compartment: the flight attendant's response (I shit you not): "We don't help passengers with their luggage because we could hurt our backs, and we aren't insured. So no, I can't help you with your luggage." The flight attendant walked away. Horrible service, and Lufthansa should be ashamed.

I'm Platinum Medallion with Delta, and I think your assessment was quite fair. Even though I like Delta, sometimes we can be a little too...cult-ish?...with them. Pointing out the flaws doesn't mean we say it's a bad airline, just that we want to see improvement (and sometimes they listen). The problems you point out are entirely fair game, and I hope Delta sees this to start improving areas like this. Many of the frequent fliers aren't happy with the current onboard service (like just serving snack boxes on longer domestic flights) and are probably spamming the CEO's inbox. I think many, like myself, are sticking around because we know (or at least hope) for a bounce-back post-COVID, and that our loyalty should (hopefully) pay off. Heck, with all the miles they gave away last year, and the fact that they're all rolling over into 2021, I'm essentially guaranteed Platinum status for 2 years. The 763s definitely have the worst Delta One seats now, but instead of improving them they're just slowly phasing them out when people expect A350 like suites. Unfortunately, Delta (and other US carriers) tend to also stick their inferior products and service for their South American flights given the lack of competition, but as you said, they still fly this plane to Europe where they're competing with better products (though perhaps they're putting more 764s/A350s on those routes too). A bummer you had a bad experience with Delta. Even with all my flying with them, there's a reason why I've only purchased their first-class seats once, and that was simply because it was $50 more than economy for a 4-hour flight this past June!

@@YaboiMikey1 This is not a fair statement. He is actually dead-on correct. 767-300 occupies such a large portion of Delta's widebody fleet. It's hard to avoid it, so it very much represent a valid experience. Even combined, total number of A350 and A330neo is less than the current 767-300 fleet size. Your comment on "767 is the only non-refurbhised aircraft" is also incorrect. 767-400 is refurbished with Delta One Suite but again 767-300 is still one of the main widebody fleet type, which Delta plans to retire due to the pandemic. A350 has the dominate aircraft for TPAC flights, so for TATL and Latin America flights, it's even more prevalent to see a 767. As a Delta Diamond Medallion flyer, this video is very very fair.

I have never been to Colombia but my cousin went and said it is really beautiful there. I never have never flown on Delta, and I heard bad reviews because of the old fleet of aircraft that needs to be replaced. I recommend flying to Barcelona, Spain via Iberia's newest aircraft which will blow your mind because it is such a classy airline. cheers and thanks for your video!

The crew rest curtain should have been secured out of the way for you. Yes, I agree the leg room is bad, but I believe the seats in the very front of Delta One on the 763 have better legroom. Hopefully you have a chance to try out the brand new interiors on the 767-400; it's a different product altogether. I rode on that one recently from HNL-ATL, and it was a real meal service too! Best yet, try the suites on the A350!

It’s amazing how far you’ve come as a flight reviewer Dan. I love the new format and animation. It’s been said by many KZbinrs that Delta has done the worst job with the cost cutting during Covid. I’ve seen where many of their longer flights have just a snack bag in business and first. And of course that’s unacceptable given that many other airlines in Europe and Asia are serving regular hot meals. Sadly just another cost cutting measure to pass along to their pax. ❤️👍✈️

I think they save this plane for the shorter long-haul flights. I'm taking it from SLC direct to Hawaii in two days, a 6 1/2 hour flight. It's definitely below Delta's other business class products....those Delta One suites are heavenly. But it's lieflat! Hawaiian Airlines also flies direct from SLC but it's domestic first class.

No mention of a forward Lav. I am viewing to try and decide between a United 787-10 or Delta 763/4. We are driving in from Eastern PA to NYC, and flying to the west coast. We are also taking lounge access into consideration. Finally, when I say we, I mean at least three of us. Any recommendations from NYC-LAX/SFO? Price is about same on all. We are paying for flights, not upgrades or miles. Alaska Air actually sounds the best except for no lounge access. Therefore, please give us recommendations. Thank You!

They are trying to limit the one on one constant contact to protect passengers and crew and they are having to reduce meal courses. Thank you so much for your critique of Delta One. You being an experienced flyer and connoisseur of luxury travel, I wanted to see if my criticisms were valid. THEY WERE! I celebrated my 60th birthday back in 2018 and I purchased a Delta One ticket to Australia. I was so excited and counted the days to experience this service. IT SUCKED!!!! The flight attendants were old, lazy, condescending and inexperienced. As a former TWA employee I know what it’s like to fly First and Business Class. I was taken aback when offered a beverage before takeoff in Atlanta. I was served the Champagne I ordered in a plastic cup! I’m paying thousands for this ticket and you serve me Champagne in a plastic cup. Are you kidding me! The flight attendant had the nerve to tell me it taste better that way. Since I was connecting in LA, I dismissed this debacle telling myself this was the domestic portion the international portion of the trip should be much better; it wasn’t! I was traveling with my cousin who had a seat next to me. I hated we could not talk with each other because of the position of the seat and the partition between us. On this flight, my Champagne was served in a stemless wine glass after we were in the air (I hated that!). The amenity kit was a cheap looking plastic pouch with socks, blinders, toothpaste and toothbrush. No big whoop. The food service was deplorable. For First/Business Class, the food was served on square plates that looked like an economy place setting. During the long flight, my cousin asked for water and was told by the flight attendant to go get it off the cart in the gallery and the flatbed seat was cramped. I stewed the entire flight as I could not believe I paid over $6500 for this. When I returned home, I promptly fired off an email to Delta’s customer service detailing my experience. Of course I was given the usual customer service speak and given 9,000 miles to show good faith, however, I will NEVER spend another penny to fly Delta One. If you want a truly First/Business Class experience, fly Emirates. I am still reliving that experience.

This looks like it is an outdated 767 interior. I strongly recommend the updated interior widebodies. And, if you are flying Delta One on an A350 or A330Neo, you will get a door to close off your suite, which is not the case on the narrower 767.

This substandard quality is why I preach, "The Big Three" NEEDS Competition NOW!", They have gotten too comfortable in giving below-grade service and amenities without any major blowback. It would be great to see other international carriers, (like Qatar, Emirates for example), set up shop by these guys airline counters at the airport and see their customer base drop off drastically.
