With the recent release of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight Season 2, it was time to reveal to the world one of my first video ideas I had when I started this channel, the DreamWorks Theory where all DreamWorks 3d animated films take place in the same universe and have an overarching storyline that arguably makes more sense than the famous Pixar Theory.

There’s actually some continuity between Madagascar and Monsters Vs. Aliens. In an episode of the Monsters Vs. Aliens TV Series, the Monsters are watching the news that’s hosted by Chuck Charles. Chuck Charles was a recurring character in the Penguins of Madagascar TV Show. This means that the Penguins of Madagascar series and the Monsters Vs. Aliens series, are happening at the same time.

@@bigflickenergy I see him as both. The god of that world of this mythical reality who has written down everything he has seen, and Dreamworks studios makes it into animation. That's why the animation style is different each time, but the story matches up based on your theory.

Most locations from Shrek/Puss in Boots can be pinned down: Puss in Boots is obviously set in medieval spain. Far Far Away seems to be on the mediterranean coast, maybe France or Italy, since there are palm trees and cypress trees (mediterranean vegetation), and its at the sea. They cross a mountain range to get to Far Far Away that looks like the Alps, and there is a sign that says 900 miles to Far Far Away. So Shreks swamp and the nearby Duloc should be somewhere in central europe, possibly in Germany, since a lot of the fairytales in the Shrek world originate from Germany/central europe, the Pied Piper is actually from the german town Hameln. Shrek has a scottish accent but I think his ancestors just emigrated to central europe. In Shrek 3 they go to Britain by ship, since they literally go to "Worcestershire Academy" and Worcestershire is a real area in Britain, also Merlin and Arthur are both from british folklore. There is some anachronistic modern technology in the Shrek world like microphones at the end of Shrek 2 or the photo machine in Duloc, but this could all be explained as "magic" devices in a magical version of the medieval age. There are also pumpkins and tomatoes in the Shrek world which only came to europe after Columbus discovered America, so Shrek could be set around the 1500s. I like the idea that when the dragons in HTTYD 3 all went into the underground dragon world, a few stayed behind on the surface, and the Shrek dragon is one of their ancestors and they are a super rare species in the Shrek world. Since the viking era was from the 700s to 1000s, there should be 500 to 800 years between HTTYD and Shrek.

Oh yeah that's definitely the time period for Puss in Boots. Think the fact Far Far Away's heir is King Arthur though makes it seem like it's not France or Italy but not sure where it would be. I could definitely see a lot of what you said about Duloc, Pied Piper, and Shrek's origin being true. I would also say though that having this tech like the camera wouldn't necessarily be through the use of magic but could instead be used to show the removal of magic and move towards tech in the world. Where yes this tech was discovered a bit early in this world compared to ours, but it's possible the desire to remove monsters from the world led to the increased speed of production on tech And yeah exactly for the timeline and the dragon from Shrek maybe being a descendant of a dragon that didn't escape with Toothless or one that eventually left.

My version of the DreamWorks theory is quite similar to your but the difference is that Shrek and Puss in Boots actually take place at the end of the timeline, after some sort of apocalyptic event cause the human race to revert back to medieval like society with all the fairy tales and magical creatures now living with human. The king Arthur in Shrek is actually the descendant of the king Arthur in Tales of Arcadia, Merlin in Arcadia and Shrek is actually the same person just really old.

That's why the monsters in Monsters vs Aliens were all held captive and not much was known about them to the public and same as the trolls in Trollhunters. All became myths

Haha that’s true. I’m only connecting animated films into this world though. I’ve connected 2d animation and now stop motion into the world apart from the 3D projects I mention in this video, but yeah it’s the Dreamworks animated universe. What you’re saying would be like saying for the Disney Animated Universe where movies like Tangled and Frozen are in the same world, because Disney also distributed Avengers, those films are in the same universe.

This makes me wonder what would happen to the timeline if Voltron: Legendary Defender was actually FROM Dreamworks instead of just made for them to release. So many things to figure out. Why don't the Boov from Home get remembered for befriending humanity centuries earlier, even though there are literally a million different alien species we see in that series? Also, there is a very strange coincidence between Voltron and the Madagascar franchise. Lance was stated to have been born in Cuba with a birthday in July. In a short promotional film for The Penguins of Madagascar (2014), we see the penguins on a classified mission......in Cuba. The date appears in the corner of the screen but is censored, but if you pause it fast enough, you can see that it says "Jul-" before it gets blacked out. Just Saw The Bad Guys for the First time and it really interests me now after seeing This Theory……if Animals really did take humans out……if this includes the citizens of the City where The Bad Guys is set at…….Well…….Every Human character(The Cops and The News reporter Tiffany……Do The Humans that are only in the background count) to appear on screen as well as the Bad Guys most likely already passed…….but like i said If It Involves The Citizens of the city in The Bad Guys when the Animals took out the Humans……..It leaves the question why???? We saw Animals and Humans coexisting peacefully in The Bad Guys……So Why take include the Humans in the city…..when Animals took Humans Out?????

So I think it’s a factor of whether these humans actually see these animals as equals. When the wolf saved the old woman from falling, she pet him like he was a dog instead of treating him like a person. I think since she was elderly she’s probably part of the generation where animals were still looked at as inferior where it was known they were intelligent, but still looked at as less. So even though they have the richest and the politicians as animals, they still feel like not everybody sees them as equals and that they deserve full control after what they were put through in the past and not just equality cause humans are still treating animals differently even if they’re equal.

@@adammartinez8061 my guess is the actual time periods would be different and it wouldn’t be year 5000 anymore. Instead what I think is plausible is when the humans returned to earth in Walle, there was some similarity to Noah’s Ark where they had animals aboard for resources and they spread the earth as well. The only difference is humans have evolved or devolved over time where they don’t know how to naturally reproduce and perhaps the animals have become more intelligent also where crossbreeding behinds where we start seeing all of these animals with human abilities but overtime tech evolves with more crossbreeds where all the Monsters in Monsters Inc look like animals in a way but have been so mixed that nobody can tell what they actually are anymore. That would be my guess, but like I said, it’s unlikely for this world to even be possible sadly

13:48 With the Shrek Badge…..I’d say that Munger definitely hunted a Ogre before the events of Monsters vs Aliens…..Him having that badge means that at some point……..he and the military went to far far away…..Which makes it sad…..like I said……one of the monsters he hunted was most likely a ogre……But considering the reaction of People when Susan started becoming a giant…..We can assume that Fear over ogres most likely returned centuries after the Shrek movies…….And with People fearing ogres once again……The Military was alerted and flew to far far Away…….I’d say the ogre on the badge is a descendant of Shrek.

It’s possible they went into hiding similar to the trolls from troll hunters but they were actually found more recently and were taken down by the government. Awesome Theoy but one small thing I noticed. The Santa in Rose of the guardian and Madagascar Christmas special are completely different

Hm that’s very true. I rewatched the Madagascar one when I saw this comment and you make a really good point. I have a couple of theories to explain it. One is it could be like what happens in The Santa Clause movies where Santa is a title passed down so it’s possible there can be multiple if one dies. Another is it’s possible Santa looks differently to the world depending on if it’s Christmas or not where he has that jolly look everybody knows him to have on Christmas which is why the mythos behind him in the world is he looks jolly when in reality he’s tatted and jacked. Another could be Santa in Madagascar actually isn’t Santa but one of his helpers in a similar way to Tooth Fairy where her fairies help her with the job so it’s possible the Santa we saw actually is just an elf which is why he’s not that much taller than the lemurs and when he loses his memory and everyone tells him he’s Santa, when he regains it perhaps he believes he is now actually Santa. Another is it can be overlooked because they had different animators, but I prefer the other explanations hahaha but honestly I don’t 100% have an answer. What do you think is most likely?

So having him change his look on that day makes sense. Any other things that don't make sense to you about this world? In the Shrek christmas special he also looks different, but maybe he just changed over time or it were just multiple ones with the title being passed down.

@@Zeder95 I feel like that version of Santa looking different can be ignored because, if I remember correctly, his scene is more of a memory replaying of the Gingerbread man, so he probably remembers Santa in the way he's always seen and described, not to mention the version he saw looks different from the Madagascar one, but considering different animation styles and Gingy seeing Santa as a grandiose monster, it makes sense for this projection conjured by Gingy to make a jolly Santa look so dark, realistic, and scary

I think that not including the 2D films is a mistake, the prince of Egypt begins with the story of Miriam and Moses, in the beautiful boy song in mr.peabody and Sherman they are seen time traveling to that Bible story to make sure that Moses is delivered safely to the pharaoh's daughter, that's what made me search for this theory in the first place, sacrilege.

I do like your idea for the timeline, but I do feel like it has some flaws I'm not trying to hate, but I'm gonna explain some of the flaws and see how it matches with my variation if the DreamWorks Timeline. The Trolls Franchise, at least in my opinion, probably takes place on another planet, seeing how most of the Trolls world is made of cotten. Plus, I do believe the planet of the Trolls Franchise works much differently than Earth, seeing most of the life and species that reside on that planet. Also, I believe the Trolls movies take place around modern Era, but they move differently than Earth's time. Other than that, I don't see anything else wrong with your idea of the timeline other than the Trolls Franchise, not being on Earth everything else in the DreamWorks Timeline is clearly on Earth but at different time periods

Yeah ofc! Thanks for the feedback. Hm that's definitely possible they're from another Earth and could give an explanation as to why the president in Monsters vs Aliens first attempt to communicate with the aliens is through music. Perhaps there was a point in time where Trolls and humans met and connected through music, so the president saw this as a method of showing peace. I included them in the main world because the bergens share somewhat similar designs to other creatures we've seen in this world and personally don't think the cotton world is a problem considering even though the film is called Trolls World Tour they are very small creatures that didn't actually traverse the entire world so it's possible since they're so small it's just a small part of the world made with cotton. I think either solution could make sense personally. Thoughts?

This theory sounds interesting. Though I have one idea based on it. Considering how you said that when superheros started showing up the monster and military team was disbanded cause the superheros could handle all the threats. I also think that after events Megamind new supers started to come into into the picture each one being diffrent in some way shape or form. Some even met Megamind and Minion themselves for one reason or another and sometimes helping them. However id like to think that eventually that the reason we don't see any in the other movies later in the time line is because they all went into hiding. Why though? Well I think that like in The Incredibles some people started to think that the superheros were causeing so much damage and that costing money and other reasons The supers weren't perfect and were capable of making mistakes or doing bad things from some supers doing bad stuff or some doing stuff like using a freight car as a weapon on petty criminals or destroying a bridge to stop a car chase. Not to mention some people were thinking "why should we should we put our trust in super powered people we don't know out side of they're super hero alter ego when we have the police, firefighters, paramedics and military to protect us?" So they made it to where they couldn't use they're powers. So many of the hero's went into hiding taking up ordinary lives. being eventually forgotten about with they're legacy being remembered via comics ,shows, toys and other forms of merchandise or something depicting them. What do you think ?

If it is connected, an argument can be made that maybe humans and animals had the war but the animals left the civilians not involved in the war to have their own planet. Maybe Mr. Peabody or an animal at a similar intelligence created these dinosaurs for another planet to start building that other world up from the ground so humans could eventually go there. Sort of a prison for them, but still enough if a society to not start from scratch

So in trailer they show modern phones so I believe it takes place in 2020s, but how it fits in is very obvious. It shows magical creatures hiding away amongst the humans by looking like them showing they wouldn't be accepted if they showed their true forms and also how the krakens have been misconstrued by humans as terrible creatures, showing that the stories the world has heard about fairytale creatures aren't true and we're made out to make the creatures look like the villains of the story

Oh that would be really cool actually for both of those interactions considering the way they’ve escaped death so many times, but I would personally be more interested in seeing his interaction with the Guardians who are people who died and escaped Death, becoming immortal. So many options with how you could show that. Is Death actually a guardian himself? Can Death not interact with immortal beings? Is Death also under the authority of the Man/Boy on the Moon?

Spirit had a film release I think like 3-4 years ago which was 3d animated so that's why I included that one and then since there are other DreamWorks Spirit projects even though they aren't 3d animated and/or films since there is one that recently came out they all join this world. Same goes for Trollgunters. If 3d animated movie didn't recently come out on Netflix, I wouldn't have included this world in Dreamworks Theory at least not yet because it didn't have the facets to join. So at this point I just haven't referenced Aardman films, Captain Underpants, and shows, but I will soon. You have a prefy on which first?

@@bigflickenergy YES……In Madagascar 1 when Alex the lion is calling the police…..all that comes out through the phones is Roars and Growls…….To the police this makes the lion dangerous and threatening….. To Captain Dubois….she only saw Alex as a big opportunity for her reputation…. “To Hunt the King of the Beasts!” As she said. Gladys Sharp had no care for the Animals from over the hedge. Nana: Even after discovering that Lion she encountered was Alex The Lion, she still attempted to shoot him. And that’s the point that I brought up where some animals could talk and others couldn’t as we see in Puss in Boots: The Last Wish where Puss is put in with a ton of non-talking animals and he blends in well. We also see this in the first Shrek where Donkey’s owner is trying to sell him as a talking donkey and he stays quiet to act like a normal donkey. A lot of these magical creatures couldn’t escape the humans, but talking animals could given they could hide in plain site and I’m assuming eventually mated with other animals which could’ve eventually given rise to animals like Alex the Lion which were intelligent, but couldn’t talk to humans because they lost it over time while others like the bees never had to hide in plain site so they could continue speaking it in their hives and the language would never fade for them. You can go so deep down the rabbit hole for this theory which is what I love about it

The events would likely take place around the year 5000. Also, we see 1 dragon in Trollhunters and know in the times of King Fu Panda there are only like 1 or 2 dragons, so it’s possible they are descendants of that dragon which we know to be a talking dragon, or perhaps they’re all in hiding in a similar way we saw them hidden in HTTYD 2/3. This was something i tought but whit kung fu panda in the same time as httyd and shrek, it wont be logic thatvin kung fu panda they got reset and they start descovering tecnology like fireworks and cannons, in the seres is also told that oogway created kung fu, something that didnt really happen if its like you say, there are a bunch of series that could be noncanon for the movies cause they dont keep whit the movie and its seems more of something to entertain, like race to the edge, they say they got a new egg of the bewilder beast, the knee there were other people that could ride dragons and dragon hunters but in the second movie they dont know any of those things, the human extintion theory couldnt be rught as we see that people like hiccup or frost are helped by the moon kid and it wouldnt be logic to kill good humans and humans who helps other creature, if he hated humans why would he try to help humans and turn frost in to an immortal? The more logical ones to say theyre in the same planet is kung fu panda, how to train youre dragon and shrek: they are all very distant from each other and will never know if one or the other exist; In rise of berk the game theres a hint or a joke where you can unlock donkey wife as a dragon to fight, but that would leas to the question on why the 3 places are so different and the dragons of the 3 places are so different. It xould depend on the byome, in far far away thx to the amount of magic that is there they could have grown like that and get smart and sentimental, in china instead they started evolving thx to the chi they felt there, in httyd they remain more primitive even if very smart and stronger because of the tiranity of the queens hive and the war between vikings. After for the spin off series for httyd, the nine realms and the kid one could be not canon, especcially the kids one, because in the other future movie they never talk about dragons, in madagascar we never hear about the bad guys or the bee movie or any of these, we are at least sure that madagascar could be in the same planet if we see even the games they made and the animation in the teathre, its bery complicated to think and to make it easier you should take the movie that dont match like the bee movie and shark tale cause theyre are mostly made for fun and if something like that would have happened they would have start a war whit the help of megamind

Yeah exactly that's why Kung Fu Panda takes place in the far future. Not the same time period as Shrek and HTTYD. Like personally I don't see how it could make any sense if it's not with that time frame cause even if it's the same time period, then Dreamworks can't tell stories where we see characters in China anymore logically

Also i would like it to be ij the same time as shrek and httyd cause immagine all of them 3 in 1 movie like the film of troll hunters but whit a good and cool ending not an horrible ending like the troll hunters one

Also, in the video after this one about 2d DreamWorks animated films, I mentioned how they tie-in and a lot of the tie-ins actually connect to The Adventures of Puss in Boots series

If Megamind takes place in the 2020s or 2030s…..This makes it the last movie in the Dreamworks timeline theory……….This makes the Final Battle in the Movie more impacting……….because it’s the Final Battle of the Dreamworks timeline theory……It also makes the Black Mamba scene chilling and more impacting…….. . Also Animals can not be seen in the movie………. They lost the battle………

Although animals cannot be seen in this movie, I don’t think that means the animals lost in the war. I genuinely just think that means the animators didn’t feel a need to put animals in lol. Also where would Kung Fu Panda fit in if Megamind is at the end of the timeline?
