Honda deserves a lot of praise for making HVAC all-physical buttons for the 11th gen because we live in an era when the latest competitors from Subaru, VW, and Kia are basically repeating the mistakes Honda made for the 2014-2021 Civics. Copying Mazda is a much better route than copying VW, Subaru, or Kia, and when it comes to other segments: Hyundai, Nissan, Ford, GM

I bought a 9th Gen Civic Si Coupe 2015 model after my 2010 RX-8 got into an accident, it was still running great at 110,000 miles but the cost to repair the body damage is high so insurance totalled it 😢. But the 2015 Civic Si is a pretty good fun daily driver 205 HP and 174lb ft TQ ain to shabby on a car weighing like less than 3,000 lbs I got it back in September 2019 at 32,000 miles...today as of 26 October 2024 I am at 143,000 miles 😉

6:11: Because Tin doesn't rust..lmfao 10:37: 'Slide so fast your carburated engine coughs out a lean misfire..' I love this humour! 4th Gen is my favorite generation! Living in Europe I noticed US/Canada have a significant departure of the European design from the 7th gen. (2001) You got the 7th hatch much later while we had it at introduction as well as almost all of the Type R gens. Our 8th and 9th gens were known as space ships, thought the interior were similar with US/CAN. Due to EU emission restrictions we have had the 1.0 L 3 cylinder at the bottom end for the 10th gen and 1.5 I-4 at the top (aside from Type R). Our 11th gen is e:Hev only but very popular that it causes suplying problems. The building quality in terms of material and interior has made a major step forward relative to gen 10. Very nice video! Ive owned a 2018 Si Sedan, a 2005 Coupe EX Special Edition (5MT), a 2004 Si and a 2005 Si. I liked my 18 for the fuel economy and the fact that it was easy to build. I didnt run into any real issues with the oiling or anything like that but once I put a tune on it with an intake and fatter turbo inlet pipe, I couldn't hit max boost without it going into limp mode. The 05 Coupe was a cheap daily I bought for like 1k. had 175k and 3rd gear crunched horribly. Had it for about 6 months before the head gasket blew on the way to the junkyard. The 04 Si was good cheap fun but I also got it for cheap. Super rusted out underneath. Ended up selling it to my friend for extra money after my dad got sick. My 05 Si got the bulk of my rebuild dreams. Body kit, full exhaust and headers, interior upgrades, wheels, etc, it had 290k on it when I sold it after my STi blew up and needed the money to fix it. Overall honda has been a great addition to my build dreams. I want to either get into another Si (7th-11th gen) or save up and import the EP3 Type R when it becomes legal and take that massive jump instead of the Si step in between

As a 2025 civic hybrid owner, this thing is fun to drive. It handles really well and i'm regularly getting 45-50+ mpg while driving. But not because its slow, because its not. Put a big foot on the pedal and it just goes. The fake shifting it does is also pretty believable, though I do wish you could disable it or make it more.. idk aggressive? The "shifts" feel too smooth to me. Maybe i'm just used to how my previous car (2001 celica GT) shifted.
@MediumBluWonder29 күн бұрын
I've driven the current hybrid in test drives for my little brother and its genuinely a quick car for what it is. I think its a great modern car for someone who wants the best fuel economy but isn't wiling to pay a mortgage as a car note every month. However, if it were my money I'd still get a 6th gen. My uncle had a green one that made it to July of this year on the same engine and transmission and racked up 612,304 miles. It outlasted every other car he's owned since he bought it and moved up in his career.

For the lower trims of the 11th gen, the instrument cluster is actually part analog, like the 8th and 9th gen. While the fuel gauge is digital, it’s its own gauge, not part of the screen. My only gripe is that the analog gauge is the speedometer (even though there is also a digital speedo readout) instead of the tachometer like the previous gens. Maybe making 2 types analog speedometers (mph and km/h) is cheaper than making 2 tachometers that are programmed differently (one for gas models, one for hybrids). Maybe shoppers prefer a customizable tachometer that can change its theme (like mood-lighting) and never really thought about wanting the ability to repurpose a redundant speedometer for some other indicator (e.g. temp, instantaneous MPG, battery level for hybrids).

I actually quite enjoy my 7th gen coupe... Just barely runs at 298k on the clock... But I daily a 10th gen Si coupe, which I got into after owning a 10th gen hatch. Some bits feel cheap, but the storage capabilities of this gen (and probably 11th gen) are absolutely insane and the stuff that really matters to the driver--the suspension, steering feel, shift feel, yada yada--feels incredible. Simple mods make it feel a little more raw, which I think helps it feel a little more raw than modern, and I like that shit. Also the first departure back away from 2-tier dash which I'm also not a fan of lmao I know you maybe just said it for brevity's sake, but the Si L15 does have some more to it than just a remap over the Sport/Touring L15. Lots of upgraded materials for internals, slightly bigger turbo with a different turbine to keep high response/low spool, shit like that. They are functionally very similar, but wringing out the L15BA*** (not B8) in the hatchback always felt like it was taxing the motor more than it does on the Si, which I suppose has some foundation considering it does feature weaker internals. Loved the video, love your EM1, love Civics. Especially L series Civics ;)

Do you think the replacement of the L15 with the hybrid will recover the reliability of the Civic? Since the recording of the video, Honda also finally issued a recall for the steering issue, indicating that they have finally found the cause of the steering issue. It turns out to be caused by an incorrectly manufactured part rather than a design issue (similar to the rod bearing issue on late 2010s V6 engines and the cracking blocks on the original R18s), so at least it's not caused by design
@AcuraAdvice29 күн бұрын
Hopefully it will...I can't say I'm too optimistic though based on the build quailty I'm seeing lately on the new models. The recall is out, but in Canada at least, no parts are availible yet, so we still can't fix them 🤷♂️

Love your channel bro, I too miss the 90’s but I’ve owned a 6th,7th,8th,9th and 10th gen civic and I have to disagree with you… the 9th gen civic is, by far, the worst gen, especially the 2012, the 10th gen, despite its issues, is a much better car. Yes modern Hondas aren’t built like they were in ‘95, but comparing new car to new car, Hondas are still mostly better than its competition
@Blank007 сағат бұрын
Within the 9th gen, it really depends on the model year. 2012 is worse than the 10th gen, I agree. The 2014-2015 has a weaker CVT compared to the more durable CVTs on the 10th gen and took away some of the refinements from the 2013, so I agree when it comes to those model years too. However, within the 7th gen to 10th gen, the 2013 is the peak Civic within that range. The dashboard materials are better than the other model years within the 2001-2021 range. Unlike the 2014-2015 and 10th gen, they did not sacrifice dashboard ergonomics (no capacitive volume slider or HVAC baked into the infotainment), the seats on the 2013 had the fuzziest upholstery for cloth trims in Civic history, they heavily refined the engine and wind noise compared to the 2012, the SI version has more character than the 10th gen. The 10th gen is more refined than the 2012 and 2014-15, but not quite as refined as 2013, the 8th gen, or 11th gen

The rear end of the sedan is where I would disagree since I think it looks better than the rear end of the 11th gen sedan version, but I do agree when it comes to the hatchback rear end, coupe rear end, all front ends, and interior.

@Blank00 ehh, I'm not a fan of the angular C- shape taillights or the plastic on the rear on all 10th gens. I love the rear on my 11th gen Si, but everyone has different tastes.
