I used the perspective-placement method (billboard soap ad) you show starting at 18:30 and IT WORKS SO BEAUTIFULLY! Now that I have my top layer image "perspectiv-ized," I'm trying to figure out how to get the modulation of light in my underlying layer to more realistically affect unmasked areas of the top layer. THANK YOU!!!

Unmesh, I recently did similar technique as 22:00 to try out different rugs for my living room. I could drag images directly from my internet browser straight into PS and hit ctrl-s and it would lay it down to scale in my living room on different file. Even used masks around furniture on main file so rug would be placed 'under'. Great, useful tutorials!
@jodicook64356 жыл бұрын
postalgbv what a brilliant idea! I need to try this with a rug I’m looking at! Thanks for the tip
@postalgbv6 жыл бұрын
another trick is to take 2 original room images (use tripod) and in one, put down some tape at a known distance (ie. a piece in each corner of floor, visible in the camera, 10' apart). Then you can easily make a Photoshop file that is, say, 10"x10" and when you drop in a 5'x7' rug, you'd size the rug image on the linked file as 5"x7". Now it will show up basically to scale in your room. The linked file, of course, is stretched corner to corner to match the pieces of tape you have in the 1st photo. Naturally, take a duplicate photo without tape on the floor so that your background image is nice and clean.

Question; I'm working with RAW files, and opening them as smart objects so that I can go back and make changes to the camera raw settings if needed. This works well but...I've run into an issue that I can't seem to find a work around for. I place a blank layer above the smart object so that I can do blemish removal with the spot healing brush tool primarily. Looks great, works great, yay!! But...I decide I want to change the exposure or bring shadows up a bit at the RAW level. As soon as I do this, of course the removed blemishes retain the appropriate exposure settings, shadows, color, etc. from the original..... Is there any way at all around this? I've googled and searched youtube but it's a very specific thing and difficult to search for. Any ideas?

I do ,psb editing of smart objects all the time (followed by "save"). Also. all keyframe locations in all related smart objects may be updated at one time by using a 1 to 1 ratio in "cut" in the .psb files by expanding the canvas (beyond the outside edges of the object(S)) and making the movement of size changes in the expanded canvas. FEW PEOPLE KNOW THAT. This can be very important in exiting side-by-side images for virtual reality videos. All keyframes in both SBS images update their size and relative locations. The duel sets of keyframes are created at once by linking the layers while doing the animation. But when changing the smart object in the expanded canvas .psb file each object updates the two sets of keyframes relative to themselves. (which is the only way to do that). Somebody at Adobe really know what they were doing. Also, you can make a smart object, a smart object twice, and the existing keyframes now carry into the .psb file for editing. There can then actually be two sets of effective keyframes which can be messy. There is way more to smart objects than one sees just on the surface.
