Great video, real trip down the memory lane... makes me want to play more again. Also Cody Miller.... what a legend
@GibboYouTube10 ай бұрын
He was a bit of a fraud, but undoubtedly one of the most convincing and legendary fraudsters in halo speedrunning. I remember seeing him in the Guinness book of records many years ago, before he was exposed. I feel he inspired a lot of people to pursue halo speedruns and for that I’m sure it makes up for his sectioned (but pretend full run 😂) speedruns

Something I wanna compliment that I don't see many people focus on is the audio mixing, perfect audio balance between music and narration (as well as good mic quality) does so much to boost a video's apparent quality and I feel like it gets taken for granted until someone does it really badly, so great job on that front as well

I used to speedrun CE Legendary like 10 years ago. The highest I got was #6 on the FG haloruns leaderboard and the time was like 1:51:xx or something. I was never any good but goatrope called me "rookie of the year" which is one of my proudest gaming accomplishments LOL Insane that times are getting close to being south of an hour. I still go back and do the old routes on CE for fun sometimes. Such a satisfying game.

Really enjoyed this vid! My only criticism was in when you were describing updated times for old records, it was basically impossible to remember what the old record was, so I had no idea how much of an improvement had been made. Having the old time and date next to the new number would be useful, or even some kind of split as to how much time exactly was saved.

Thank you for doing this, CE needed one in my opinion because of how insane the strats have become over the years. It's also cool to see how tricks from the segmented runs were implemented over time, I'm glad you realized their importance and gave them coverage.

Great video. My friend and I had several of the records for coop times on highspeedhalo. It was hard to record videos back then, you needed expensive equipment like a DVD recorder or capture card to be able to get them onto your PC. Then you had to upload the the video files somewhere, youtube wasn't a thing until 2005 and even then you couldn't upload videos over 10 minutes long.

Appreciate the information and all the effort you put into making this. Halo was a pivotal game for me and and there were a lot of late nights spent in a LAN party with friends playing CE (and split screen Goldeneye, prior to that). I'm still working on the MCC part time achievements and every time I see a video like this it gives me the itch to go back and start playing again.

Excellent stuff, watched a few others before this (Halo 5, 4 campaigns ) but this one earned a sub. Suggestion for future content. This was excellent to get the full CE speedrunning timeline, but it was SO much info at once and difficult to track progress on each level over time. It could be fun to see each level get its own video, so all the skips and tricks discovered for each level can be covered chronologically instead of all levels at once.

The ABSOLUTE FUCKING DOMINATION by GarishGoblin and his complete STRANGLEHOLD on the CE Legendary category is still so amazing. Dude didnt just hold it for 7 years straight...he also made like 50 improvements to his run. Im a little sad hes not #1 now.... but it was only a matter of time with new strats and people learning and trying them, and with such a large goal to go for.

Really good video man. My only criticism would be the amount of times being thrown at the viewer, a little difficult to digest and understand the weight of these improvements I guess. Just my opinion. I found the drop on Assault on the Control room as a kid and I'll never forget it. Blew my mind as a kid. Split-Screen, Brother was just afk and I just constantly killed myself jumping down... until I lived. Same with the Warthog through the wall on The Silent Cartographer, and the drop after the door. (constant suicides, same thing as before) Going back and playing MCC, doing LASO and seeing shit like Banshee grab was insanely fun.

@frogarchivist frogblast didn’t find that first aotc bug, the Bungie devs who designed the map knew about it originally; they found out not by getting blasted , but by jumping onto the glass and slipping down the cliff side terrain (to skip enemies). The dev who showed it to me was a family member 🤷♂️ he used to brag it hadn’t been found yet 😂

@@frogarchist ruiner, aka Paul Bertone Jr., he recalled his biggest projects for haloce were t&r and aotc. he told me he also specifically helped with the first half of 343gs; I wouldn’t be surprised he helped elsewhere. It’s not weird to me to remember this about the aotc bridge jump despite being over 20 years ago, I remember he’d joke it couldn’t be found online anywhere nor could I find it. 2001 Christmas , extra special thanks to a guy named ruiner . He also claimed to be the first player to corpse hump in the game, and you can find his “ghost” character performing this in the pregame, where I was told the game was recorded from during a late pre-release beta multiplayer test. Iirc ferrex ran the multiplayer , who’s Tyson green, but he had to divert and spend time on the ce single player. Funny thing, These guys were just Bungie fans in the late 90s, since you have great videos provoking the nostalgia I’ll say more. ruiner was part of a “Myth” team that won 8 team tournaments in a row from 1998-2000; one time this involved 96 team tournament of up to 8 players in game; ruiner was also in the badlands team that had some of their Myth 3rd party maps be released publicly by Bungie through subsequent updated versions of the game prior to the release of halo ce. Stefan Sinclair a competitor on these games , “modem” ; Chris butcher helped sponsor some of those events , “butcher”. Ancient history. Grizzled, as some may say 🫡
