@@NightBrawler123 what do think "lock-on" does? they basically have the equivalent of our FAF-14 Spear. so are they unfair? To the unexperienced perhaps, but its very easy to avoid their rockets with multiple methods, for example: 1. staying in cover can help make them waste their rocket salvo, as soon as the rockets hit the rock youre hiding in, you run. 2. Avoid soft cover as much as possible, trees are considered as soft cover, as well as crates and metal barriers, meter thick concrete bunker walls and pillboxes are considered as medium cover and can withstand some pressure, but the best cover are the rocks strewn about in the map as well as the terrain itself, craters made by bombing runs make excellent cover on the fly, as well as the dunes of some planets. Note that rocket devastators and cannons can still lock-on through rocks, but lose their lock through terrain. 3. Use Smoke, be it from smoke grenades, smoke orbital strikes, smoke airstrikes, or even smoke produced from bulbous mushrooms. Smoke obscures enemy vision and will make them keep firing at your last known location until they can reacquire you, smoke also breaks lock-on. Stealth is incredibly powerful against automatons, even if you only use it intermittently.

I'd actually love to see them try and lets try to remember that despite how good a concept is for a game, if it doesn't appeal to corporate, it doesn't happen. A lot of good ideas made by the devoted devs of a game are shot down by the sheer greed of the higher ups to make a more profitable game rather then a fun one. Really if you look at it, only small studios can really make the truly good games these days because they don't have someone in an office trying to push for more microtransactions, battle pass or shop in game for the player to buy things.

Very important: *Everything* is shared. Nothing is split. If someone 300 meters away picks up a medal, requisition slips, and super credits, *everyone in the team also gets that much of that stuff.* And it doesn't matter who has what samples when you extract - if there's a combined total of 15 common samples, 10 rare samples, and 3 super samples in the pockets of any extracted helldivers, then EVERYONE gets ALL 15/10/3 of those respective samples! Samples and support equipment (tac-packs and support weapons) are also reasons to go back to your corpse, as you only drop in with your armor, primary, secondary, and grenades - and not even all your ammo if your team doesn't have the booster for it. Speaking of, Boosters. Basically, a perk that applies to the whole team. Stamina lasts longer and recovers faster, sure. Difficult terrain and other slowing effects slow you less, sure. Longer radar ping range. Everyone has full ammo stims and grenades each time they drop in via hellpod, sure. More lives, or faster regeneration of lives once you run out of lives, sure. Enemies can't call for reinforcements so soon after a prior call, sure. It incentivizes a team to bring in those boosters - Solo, you only get one booster, such as hellpod space (ammo is full when you reinforce) or stamina. In a team, you can get up to 4 boosters! And they're permanent unlocks, not consumed, you can equip the same booster every time.
@SpeCifiC05076 ай бұрын
It is worth mentioning that ammo is not shared, which is really the only thing that isn't shared across the game. Oh and it is also worth noting that even "personal orders" are ALSO shared. For example our personal order for today was to kill 100 enemies using the strafe attack, and I was the only one who equipped that stratagem. Despite this, I got my 100 kills, but so did my other two squad mates despite not even equipping it. This effectively means that only ONE person needs to equip the items needed to complete an order, or if you want it done faster, but at the cost of everyone losing a stratagem slot for something better or more useful, everyone can equip the required item and have it done 4x faster if everyone does their part.

Small correction around 2:30 They didn't institute a player cap. The servers had a cap that the players exceeded. AH expected a successful launch of 50,000 CCU, but booked server space and had infrastructure in place for up to 250,000 CCU. It had double that amount on launch weekend, and managed to hit an estimated 800,000 CCU. @atbauchat5 ай бұрын
Toxicity tends to depend on the difficulty you are playing on. Difficulties 5 and 7 are the gateway levels to the true helldiver experience. 5 introduces you to the big bads and stratagem choice matters the most. Difficulty 7 is when you are expected to know how to use your stratagems and how to work as a team. This is the difficulty the devs expect most of the player base to reach and play at. At difficulty 9, you are expected to sweat and pucker. This is the difficulty for the guys who play halo on the hardest difficulty with only a sidearm.
@Zlittlepenguin5 ай бұрын
@@christopherkeehn9962 well, because you have to spend premium currency in order to unlock the ability to play the game in order to earn that stuff - whether that’s by grinding for it, or by spending real money. The reason it’s predatory is for 2 reasons: 1. New players that may not know that you can even earn premium currency in the game may go ahead and spend $10 to unlock it thinking that that’s the only way to do so. 2. I mean, it’s a classic mobile game tactic right? Only like I said, it’s a bit more generous than usual. These games will let you earn premium currency at a slow or steady pace in hopes that you’ll get close enough to the required amount to buy something - in this case, 1000 credits for a war bond - and say “hey, I can just buy $5 worth of credits (or whatever the cheap option is, I don’t even remember right now) and it’s kind of like I’m getting it on sale.” To sum it up, they’re preying on new people’s ignorance and impulsive people’s impatience. Hence why it’s.. well… “predatory”
@TheMonkeydela6 ай бұрын
And the battlepasses are forever too. When the next one comes out you still have the previous passes to pick and choose from at will. They're only 1000 credits to access but that accumulates suprisingly fast on even lower difficulties. As long as you look around before leaving you should get everything you need to fully progress at any level of play. I'm level 43 and i play on difficulty 5 (out of 9) because i have no need for super samples. I can jump into lower level players lobbies and help them have a good time while having a chill experience myself.
@taxa15695 ай бұрын
It's actually easier to cred/medal farm below challenging. There's 2 options for secondary objectives, arty or radar. Enemies don't spawn on POI's. Almost every potential rare sample spawning POI is a cargo container spawn with potential medals and super creds and best of all. You get a liberation point every 10 to 15 mins (difficulty 1 or 2 otherwise 2 mission OPs) instead of every 40 if you were on helldive (x3 for the entire op at maximum) and next to no chance of failing. I find it funny that people are still pointing out malevolon creek still hasn't been taken after however long but I think it's on purpose. If people used it as a farming planet they'd at minimum quadruple the liberation effort just by running Cred/medal farms. And that's solo. Have a go sometime. If you get enough hours playing you can make up an entire warbond without paying anything over the course of a day. Plus it's a breezy change to helldive all the time. I can attest to that. My built up knowledge is being wasted but low level is fun for a power trip. Drop into an illegal broadcast, mission complete in about 10 seconds. Scan the map for a radar, hunt down POI's, done in ~7 minutes

Besides the fascist undertones there is something quite heart warming about the fact that we're all united under one banner
@OnlyGrafting5 ай бұрын
@@2020_Visi0n it's not necessarily fascism. Authoritarian, yes. Militaristic? Definitely. But fascism is such an awkward thing to define. No, Wikipedia doesn't encompass it. Check Britannica for example. It mentions it's many forms and differences. The main unifier for Germany was economy and political persecution. Italy seeked to expand it's lands and prompt a rebirth of the Roman people's. Romania was hard handed into it through a desire to expand territories. Hungary was similarly so, but less obviously fascistic and more so authoritarian. The issue with a lot of the examples to define it are German pressure. If we look outwith Europe South America had it due to economic woes. We have no indication as to why Super Earth is authoritarian. All we know is that Earth is unified and seemingly cooperation between races is seamless. Public order is a priority and trust in the state is assured. We can only definitively brand it as Authoritarian. Or, as some would call it, Democracy with a backbone abused by politicians when a party or person misused the powers available. I should also note that similarities with the communist state in 1984. Fighting a war you can't doubt. Truth rigorously monitored. Dissent outlawed in an under the table yet obviously intimidating manner. Militaristic. The only obvious difference is the state of the world. Civilians in Super Earth don't have any known discrimination for class. We don't even know if class exists in their economy. Perhaps Super Earth is some weird modern hybrid of Social Democracy and Authoritarianism.

One thing I've found personally, I appreciate when a game like deep rock or helldivers actually respects the player as both a player and a customer, it makes me more comfortable with the idea of spending money, I genuinely feel better about my purchases in a game that respects me especially when their an indie team, because then I know I'm genuinely supporting a team of developers that I respect and respect me in return. In a game where the premium currency is so easy to get for free, I enjoy the opportunity and FREEDOM to just play the game for currency or essentially donate to the devs for a game they definitely deserve the extra few bucks for. Plus, to send the point home, if you do decide to spend your money, the game limits how much you can effectively spend, while giving you an amazing deal for as little as $3 and a max price of $26 which allows you to basically buy out the whole store, or unlock 2 warbonds. Layers of respect.

You can unlock the first-ever battle pass even 4 years down the line. THIS IS HOW BATTLE PASSES SHOULD BE! • There is no competition for who gets super credits. If you pick up super credits during a mission then everyone gets them.

what's funny is, at least in terms of progression, the war bonds use the same progression system Fortnite battle passes currently use, where you earn a currency through gameplay and get to pick and choose what on each page you wanted to unlock, while requiring you to earn a certain amount of things to unlock the next page. The difference is War bonds are free or earnable for free, can be unlocked at any time, and never expire. That's the key that makes them rock.

@SpeCifiC05076 ай бұрын
Same. I've got a little over 4k SC. I haven't bought any of the warbonds, but with how much I've saved up, I can get both current warbonds, next months warbond and still have enough left over to buy some armor sets from the Super store. What is also great is that the warbonds themselves have SC within them as well, so, for example...the cutting edge warbond is 1000 SC, but within the warbond itself you can get 300 total SC unlocking those with medals, meaning the warbond in reality only cost 700 SC in the end.

Great work! I really enjoyed your videos on this topic. It really was feeling hopeless with how money hungry and poorly made most games have become. More and more I found myself going back to older titles to find new experiences rather than anything new. Will the standard set by Helldivers and those like it see all other studios forget their toxic practices and follow suit? Probably not. But I agree with you that we will likely see a new age of games and companies following suit. Not everything will be positive and we will still have plenty of bad actors still, but now that the lie of having to put up with poor practices to get "AAAA Games" has been shattered I think many will tolerate poor games even less. It is a good trend I hope to see continue.

Another fun Indie game that has a lot of success is Deep Rock Galactic. Their battle pass is also super rewarding to players. Once a season ends, the rewards you didn’t get get transported to supply crates you can find in game, meaning they’re not lost forever. On top of that they’re looking into a system that allows the players to CHOOSE which season to play in and you will be able to PICK which pass to put your XP towards. Why is it Indie Devs are always the ones that make gaming fun? I ain’t complaining but it’d be nice to see what these companies could do with the resources of AAA studios
