@@EdgarTorres-mw5up you know why? because they not big as ratchet & clank jak & daxter only big in the west, japan only got the first two games and both of them flop in japan and jak 3 & x didn't release in japan until 2018 on the ps4. sly cooper only big in america, all the sly games didnt got a platinum budget range re-release in europe (its similar to the red ps2 greatest hits in america) and thats show the sly games flop in europe, in japan same as jak & daxter only the first two sly games release there while the third game didnt release until the hd collection back in 2011 and thieves in time never got release in japan.

The first 4 games were such a huge part of my childhood. I only had a Playstation 2 until about 2015 so I never got into the futures games or anything. But I'm so glad to see this timeline so I can see what I've been missing

Ratchet and Clank has always meant so much to me for nearly 20 years now. I’ll always remember playing the PS2 demo disc with Metropolis and Blackwater City over and over until I finally got the full game! To this day I still replay every game and I still love them as much as I did the first time.

Here's hoping that the next game will focus on them finally searching for and finding the dimension where the Lombaxes are hidden. And I hope that Rivet & Kit are involved and playable as well. @@deadlocked5337 Wow. Where did you even get that it's a stand-alone ? Insomniac literally stated that it's a continuity to the events of the "Future" Series. Lead Producer said that many times before the Game released, and after it did. Stand-Alone doesn't really mean that it's a 1 game and won't have a direct contiunation - it means that the game is set in its own Timeline/Universe that does not affect the Main Timeline. Whereas "Rift Apart" does - because it's literally a continuation of its events... And - back around the time "Rift Apart" was announced - they quite literally stated that they plan on expanding the universe with a New Trilogy and that "Rift Apart" will be an entry into it.

And if you meant "Rift Apart" then the answer is even more obvious - because it's the same City that has always existed in the Series (2016 didn't add it - they used the same Level that was already in the Original 1st Game). That City is the one we later visit in the 1st Game and in other Games. It's basically what Ratchet considers his "Home away from home." To that, Insomniac stated many times that they don't count it as Canon, only more like a failed Remake of the 1st game, and in 2017 they officially announced that the Remake isn't Canon, and the next games would continue the Timeline after the events of the PS3 "Future" Series. I don't know how many times I had to explain it at this point. But it seems like Reddit is the only Social where people actually know this. Probably because the Announcement from 2017 was made both on their Official Twitter and their Official Reddit.

@@nefarioulyte9996 Even in the 1st Game, that exact Planet is the HQ of Qwark and his Team. The same that is later attacked on a daily basis by Nefarious. They didn't create that for the Remake. They just took the Original Story and changed some bits (and it didn't work out too well for the Story). The Movie was created only because SONY wanted to squeeze some money out of it. Insomniac themselves originally planned to make a TV Series, that would take place between the 3rd Game (from the Original Trilogy) and the 1st Game from the PS3 "Future" Series. But then SONY made up a Movie and the idea of the TV Series went to oit the window.

But those were more like those small Books that you get with the Collector's Edition of any game.

You ignored 3-4 Games that are Canon. Those are - Size Matters - Secret Agent Clank - All 4 One (which is literally even mentioned in later games) - Full Frontal Assault And you added the 2016 Remake and 2016 Movie, which both are NOT Canon. Insomniac said multiple times that 2016 Story is a Stand-Alone Remake that Sony wanted - and it failed. Hence why Insomniac said in 2017 that the Story said by Qwark is NOT Canon and isn't accounted for in the Timeline.

Ikr? I dont get why he added the ratchet and clank remake from 2016, and ignored the games you mentioned. The 2016 game is literally a remake of the first game, so it is not canon at all. The games you mentioned that he didn't add in the timeline are canon, so there is no reason to not include them as well. Also, Rift apart is NOT the sequel to the remake. It is the sequel to Into the Nexus, so I don't get why Insomniac games says that Rift apart is a sequel to both the remake and Into the Nexus. That makes no sense whatsoever, which is why I think Rift apart is only part of the original timeline, and not the remake's.

@@saragarnica723 Well, I think the reason behind why Insomniac kept giving us those all-around answers, instead of the straight-forward ones, was because they were doing so before the Game released. Because they stated very clearly in 2017 that the Remake and Movie are not Canon. Not to mention that they now also sometimes said that it's a Sequel to "kind of both" but in other posts they only mentioned "Into the Nexus" or just the "Future" Series overall.

I think a key part missing from the Re Cap from RAC1 is the downfall of Ratchet and Clank's partnership after Quark reveals himself evil. The fact that they still work together whilst being angry at each other makes it that much more satisfying and heartwarming when they finally make-up and "forgive" each other. Ratchet realizes he's been caught up in his plans for revenge against Quark and comes to terms with the bigger picture. It feels as though Clank always had this belief that Ratchet would eventually do the right thing and when Ratchet does, you can see the pride and happiness from Clank. They both put aside what differences remain and get to work, knowing that it's up to them to defeat Drek.

What’s even crazier for the 2016 “Re-Imagining” for Rift Apart, is that you can see it 2 different ways (either by Movie or Game): 1.) This is Captain Quark’s re-telling of the events that happened, since he’s the one telling the story from within & we all know by now that he likes to exaggerate his endeavors to the point of lying, not just because of his own ego but because he’s dumb on top of it. So there are parts that are not there or truncated for time that he simply found boring & he would make the more action parts more exciting in different ways. Or 2.) (The one that I believe to be canon to Rift Apart): The 2016 game & movie is not canon, but is considered an “Alternate Dimension”. The 2016 game messes with the personality of Ratchet & Clank, along with the general events of the original story to make it more “kid-friendly”, but the idea of Rift Apart taking place in alternate realities makes much more sense given in hindsight. Also, Chairman Drek from the 2016 game/movie makes an appearance in Rift Apart, in the form of the Sheep inside the Bar/Battle Arena in the far corner at the Bar, which is confirmed to be inside a pocket dimension with constant rifts happening.

So if the Game is NOT Canon, you should have already figured out that the Movie is NOT Canon either (that, and Insomniac literally said so in 2017).

the one small adjustment I would make in the timeline is cramming All 4 one between 2016 and Rift apart. and i know you said no spinoffs but there are cutscenes in both Rift Apart and All 4 one that have Ratchet and Clank say that they are retired but that is never mentioned in previous games.

Well, not really. Loki and Sylvie are Variants of the same being - of the Loki. Whereas Ratchet and Rivet are simply counterparts of each other in their Universes - they are not different Versions of the same Lombax. Insomniac made it very clear, by literally saying it in the game.

@@TheCursedCat1927 Yeah, i like that emperor nefarious's dimension is like Shrek 4, a reality where the main hero (ratchet) does not exist and thus the main villian won. Rivet is just one of the lombax survivors and escaped to that dimension, actually mentions her father was a general and cared about his people, a description that fits Alister perfectly and kinda makes sense considering Alister and Rivet sorta share the same fur color.

Honestly, as somebody who has played every one of these games, this is a pretty perfect list. Up your arsenal is still the best game in the series and rift apart, and a crack in time are the two that got the closest to that greatness. Nice job

@@shanenspitaler5790 actully this is according to insomniac. i own the the 15th anniversary art book of ratchet & clank, they didn't mention size matters & secret agent clank in the book. i saw the brian allgeier (the creative director of all the ps2, ps3 & ps4 ratchet games) & tj fixman (the writer of the ps3, ps4 & the movie) video on GDC from 2018 they didn't mention the psp games. and its dont matter if high impact games developed it alone or with insomniac supervision, if they dont mention it its not canon even if it a spin off. if you talking about that twitter resopnd thats still not confirm a lot, they also confirm that the bolt glitch from ratchet 1 is canon you cant belive someone random whos manage the insomniac social media whats canon or not only ted price, brian allgeier & tj fixman can confirm whats canon or not.

It's an art book insomniac doesn't have access to the art from those games because there developed by a completely different company so they couldn't add it to the book because they wouldn't have access to the artwork from those games. I'd argue that a twitter response is more accurate then an art book that doesn't actually state in words that "secret agent clank and size matters are not canon"

Most high impact games are former insomniac employees, and in every promotion for the franchise they don’t mention the psp games and they supervise the games (look at tools of destruction it have the prisoner ratchet skin while SAC have a zoni skin) even in the commercial for rift apart that’s showing the evolution of the franchise they skip size matters because it’s a spin-off.

First time I've played Ratchet and Clank it was on a PS2 in a cinema waiting area for kids. I was instantly hooked. Hope they will follow with more sequels Rift Apart was AMZAINGLY DONE

The ps5 game is supposed to be the first of the ps5 trilogy of games, so expect two more games along with the 20 year Ratchet and Clank anniversary 2022. I was fortunate enough to get a ps5 a month after the game released and I pre-odered the game so I had my copy still in its plastic. Its a truly an amazing game, I know I might seem a bit based, but I would give it along with A crack in time as the best Ratchet and Clank games ever made. I own and have played every single game in the series and I am a huge fan of the series, I love the games so much so when I feel a bit depressed I usualy boot up one of the games either ps2, psp, ps3, ps4 or now even ps5 and just play and the games never fail to just make me smile.

Yeah with the new game mechanics seen in a crack in time or rift apart new weapons new characters to play as an even better multiplayer imagine playing with friends and you play as ratchet beating up Captain quark or dr. Nefarious maybe come with cooldown abilities like the r.y.n.o or giant crank.

Thanks leaderboard for explaining it atleast right, but you should have underlined it more, that the 2016 game is indeed retelling the story of the first game out of Captain Qwarks view, which means the Original and the 2016 game happen at the same time from different perspectives. This is an important missing piece. There is so much confusion out there with the two games and how the 2016 game is seen (remake/ reboot) that this point should be made clearer. But though a good video.
