Juri is what Chun-Li could've been if Chun-Li fell to The Darkside and when I look at Chun-Li and Juri they remind me of Jem and Pizzazz just a little bit more extreme. For example, Juri is like Pizzazz because they don't take crap from nobody, and they are both reckless regardless of The Consequences of their actions and they do have some sense of honor. The only difference is that Pizzazz only wants to beat Jem to prove that she and the Misfits are better than her and The Holograms, whereas with Juri she not only wants to beat Chun-Li, but she sometimes has come close to killing her and it also shows that Pizzazz won't cross that line whereas Juri will.

The fact that we, the audience, get to play such a huge part in Juri's healing process (or at least feel like that's the case) is honestly incredibly beautiful. Also, random side note. You could take the styling of her bangs as big symbolism. Up until SF6, her bangs were out of her eyes, which could be representative of her focus. The fact that she has her "eyes on the prize" so to speak. But her bangs cover up one of her eyes now, which could be taken as representing that she's lost that focus now that Bison is dead. She has all this anger, power, and killing intent still, but currently has nowhere to aim it and nothing that she can really do with it (aside from odd jobs and random brawls with people).

While this sounds crazy and deeply dumb to the average person, I see the theory and the point behind it. Take how people change up their aesthetic/appearance in real life by changing specific features about them, changing their fashion sense, makeup, etc. this isn’t just because someone wants a change, not for everyone at least. Her and Kurumi Tokisaki from Date A Live share a similar interesting story yet appearance. They both we're born raised rich and loved by their parents, lost someone or something that they cherished the most, (Juri forsure endured it the most because for Kurumi she just lost her best friend from someone whom she trusted before the D.A.L events. It's not known where or what happened to Kurumi's parents since they we're never featured nor mentioned in the anime), became a relentless brute after they're tragic past, and have a special ability that they reveal/prove with they're left eye (Except Kurumi didn't lose her left eye from sadistic criminals or people which makes Juri's case worse than Kurumi's but somewhat similar together).

this is the kind of video I didn't expect to discover in the recommendations but such a good and honorable take on the character, I know we love Juri for certain physical attributes but for a moment in my fiction/video game/movie fan life, etc I tried through ChatGPT to create this narrative/fanfiction about Juri's redemption because I felt interested in this character and I'll be honest, she is beautiful but it was something I had never seriously seen done in the community and it was through a lot of dialogue. changes in the plot, crossovers (and one or another chaos) that I was able to come up with stories, although somewhat simple because they showed a more human and multifaceted side of it, I remember how I added to my narratives that I was locked up without the feng-shui engine and even to redeem herself for her actions like at the fair and confront the boy who lost his mother because of her. The very fact that she became something she swore to destroy, a monstrous and unscrupulous figure that kills parents. Also in this line I described and developed her return to South Korea to rebuild her parents' mansion until it became a sanctuary where young people could freely train taekwondo, all of these stories take place about in 1999-2000. And I can't help but mention that all this in March-May 2023, and the truth is that developing all this was a beautiful experience that not only inspired me creatively to explore with an AI but also as a person since it gave me something to focus on and In that moment I was near the 18 and I was worried, mellancholyc and confusing feelings. and it was a source of many laughs, reflections and of course lotsa' desmadre!!!! with some of my original characters and those of the street figther series in general. The truth is that there is a lot I can tell of these stories. 💜🌸🐅🥋

Juri is a dark version of Chun-Li, just like Akuma is a dark version of Ryu. She's a "what if..." scenario so to speak, if Chun-Li didn't become a hero of justice after the tragedy that befall on her and her family. They have literally the same backstory. They both grew up in a happy family, they both learned martial arts from a young age and both of their fathers were good law officers who were murdered by Shadaloo/Bison. But while Chun-Li managed to stay on the path of "light", Juri got consumed by vengeance and fell to the darkness. That's why Chun-Li can't leave Juri alone. She understands her better than anyone and keeps trying to "save" her, and that's why Juri "hates" Chun-Li, because Chun-Li's a living, breathing example of what she could have been.

On the topic of "a possible redemption arc", Id say Juri doesn't actually need on. We need some "villains" to stick around. Credit where it’s due, Chun-Li specifically notes that Juri has to atone for her crimes before saying it isn’t too late for her to start over when confronting her in Juri’s Arcade Mode in 6, suggesting that there are ultimately still consequences for her actions that she must face. Otherwise though, I very much agree that Juri’s treated far more leniently than she actually deserves, particularly given that she’s narratively introduced destroying an amusement park and would’ve gleefully killed Chun-Li herself if not for the Feng Shui Engine’s sudden malfunction.

Great Video Since the Akuma patch came out i have in mind another theory about the Juri / Chun fight . The new mission in the WT shows that Juri delives the experimental bags to "Help" shadaloo resurrecting Bison... So her goal is still the same as before , she obviously does it cause she wants to kill Bison herself but maybe... she's also aware about the fact that she no longer has the super strong FSE she had in 4 meaning that she wants some help to kill him And Guess who's the person who shares a similar story with her and the same hatred towards bison? Yes... Chun li Juri is a schemer and the reason why she paid a lil visit to chun isn't because of some rivalry but because she was afraid that Chun wasn't in her top condition to fight Bison . To make it simple juri went to chun li just to say "Sup Chun Bison is still a threat , i need your help to kill him and i want see if your combat skills are still on point" I wouldn't be suprised if Juri and Chun either in WT of sf6 or sf7 would team up and go toe to toe with Bison . It's just a theory but i wanted to share it .
