That Nicolas Cage movie with animatronics"Willys Wonderland" is better. It is Rated 12+, obviously it has not been very violent nor is it scary, but I did at least share terrifying moments when I was watching it, but that's how movies of that classification are, normally FNAF attracted it more for children, but I wish it were a little more disturbing, because there are scenes that had flaws

Me personally, i think this movie rocked, I think that it was the perfect amount of the story is original for FNaF, but you can still watch it without playing the games and knowing the lore. Also, bringing up the part where the animatronics have the dead kids inside them, Chica does look like she has stains on her suit, now this could just be her eating a lot, but it could've been a cut part of the movie where they do address the dead kid's bodies being inside the animatronic suits. That's just what I think anyways.

I'm just sad about the lack of blood/dirt Like don't get me wrong, I don't need gore, I don't like horror films. But having the guy stab Vanessa, looking down, seeing the knife in her body, with super clean clothes,and clean knife? Same with when the springlock springs went inside spring. Just you know, to make it slightly better. And we'll the animatronics looked not as dorty as in for example the VR game, especially golden Bonnie, the Black stains look weird but okay on the front, and just weird artificial on the back scenes. And especially on the costume of a mass killer putting on his costume after years, having it basically shining yellow, spotless, and then the weird black patches that looked like someone tried to make it look dirty and used by having a few parts stenches with heat. Imagine, having fight marks, or dirt stains or even a bit of dried blood on the Springtrap costume it would have been so much cooler/omnius/threatening/menacing.

Setting up Max having a character arc only to kill her is actually a classic horror/drama approach. Few things are as emotionally-affecting to an audience than a character who is likable and on the pathway to being a better person getting that opportunity stolen from them through the cruelty of the situation they are in. Research shows that we prefer closure and lacking it draws our attention and makes us uncomfortable. It is also meant to mirror the murders of the children, who likewise had their potential in life stolen from them because of the cruelty of Afton. It shows that, through that cruelty, they have also become cruel in the same way under his direction.

the movie was definitely 100% made for the fans, especially seeing how in touch with the community that scott, blumhouse, and steel wool are looking at it from an unbiased pov, (def tricky seeing as ive been a massive fangirl for nearly my whole life lmao) the movie has so many great points but a considerable amount of missteps- stuff that most other people agree with like some of the writing, some of the acting, the comedy that goes a liiittle too far for a horror movie sometimes, the fact that you’re gonna be confused as hell if you aren’t a prior fan, and so on- but most of these can be chalked up to a lower than average budget, the comedy mostly coming from playing with the animatronics (who are controlled by kids, so of course theyre gonna be doofs when they can be), and other things objectively, i’d say this movies like,,, a 7/10? but the fnaf fanboy part of me is definitely giving it way higher than a 10/10 lmao dunno why i wasted my time with this, buuut i was just bored sooo yeah :P

As far as the torture mask goes, I see what you mean but there are 2 possible solutions to your inquiry. 1. William Afton just made it as a way the animatronics could kill people when he isnt at the pizzeria. 2. Its comparable to in FNaF 1 where the animatronics stuff the night guard in a suit and the "blades" in the mask are actually just gears that are a part of the animatronic mask and its just a mechanism for making the suits retrofitted into a way to force the nightguard into the costume. Thats how i see it at least.

Alright, wild theory to go here. We don't see too much of the mask in the movie. I'm not a huge fan of the whole remnant and agony type scifi stuff in some of the books' canons, but there is a world they take it in that direction and that mask exists to torture its occupant to make their body bind with the suit. Heck, I'll even go as far as to admit I don't know the details of remnant and agony, but it could be an attempt at streamlining those things from the book into a simple "pain = bonding to the suit" as a way to justify Aftons' inevitable return and explain the animatronics just a touch beyond "ghost's body forced into costume".

One of the biggest things I've been taught in film classes is to "know your audience". This movie with the critic vs general audience reception is a hugeee example on why focusing on your audience is so important. If they had tried somehow to cater it to everyone, or god forbid the critics, rather than mostly fans i don't know if it would have done as well as it has (although of course this movie was always gonna make hella money). I'm so happy they didn't try too hard to cater towards those people.

I don't think there was any right answer here, since even within the FNaF fandom there's a wide arrange of fans who consume the franchise in different ways and like it for different reasons. The final conclusion of the whole video - "this movie definitely having a soul" - it perfectly summarizes why it was such a joy to see it in cinema, even with all the stupid and inconsistent stuff in it. Its nothing like when you walk away from another mass-produced consumer product of a movie, when you forget it right after and don't feel anything at all - Fnaf movie was a total opposite of this. My whole movie teather was filled with applause after the end credits rolled, and that's definitely saying something in itself. Really looking forward towards future movies, I hope they won't mess them up.

Some things that I’ve heard from the community is that the movie that these movies take heavily from the Silver Eyes trilogy. The Foxy arcade scene and the animatronics dragging Afton into a back room. A theory on Afton’s children is that Henry is the one with three kids and Afton just had the one daughter. Movie is a different story so I wouldn’t be surprised if Garret turned out to be the Puppet.

The theory about who the parents are from what I heard is Micheal is not an Afton by blood. He called William "father" in sister location which means he at least believes it's his father but the between night cutscenes of that same game bring into question if he really is the son of William with the answer being left unresolved. Williams main goal in doing all the killing stuff was for remnant was it not? If not why were the original animatronics not met to be child capturing devices until the Funtime ones after the death of his son?

The way my theory goes is the events that changed are Micheal was adopted by the Emily family, and William figured out how to ally with the souls. This means that the fun times were never built because William could use the souls to get remnant so Elizabeth never died to baby. Instead of Micheal becoming the bully Elizabeth/Vanessa does and manages to get whatever Evan equivalent killed which is why she goes through with helping William but still manages the courage to fight him. Henry distances himself from his work which explains why Micheal didn't know about Freddys or William yet Garrett appeared to be a planned kill by William in the same way Charlie was. The death of Garett sets Micheal on a story to avenge his dead brother in the same way Evans death does in the game for the same protagonist.

For fnafs first film project, it did quite alright. I felt like it spread itself too thin for who this film is even for. It tried to be a horror film but it wasn’t very scary, it tried to be a kids film but as lacked proper writing to do that, and it tried to appeal to prior fnaf fans but the films lore was just a little too simple and clearcut, two things that are very new to the franchise. I know they are doing a 2nd film and I hope this one finds its footing

8:15 that's so funny to hear cause I felt the exact opposite - this scene was a huge detriment to the movie's horror and any tension you felt up until that moment was gone for the rest of the movie. Same goes for the critics - I think you saying "they just went in with the wrong expectations" is just silly and was very disappointing to hear cause your previous videos always struck me with high level of analytical thinking. This movie was advertised as horror movie, no matter where you look up its first genre is horror, even the posters were spooky and said something like "can you survive five nights at freddy's", so a basic expectation of the movie to at least be little scary is completely justified. This ties up to the scene you said was "fantastic". Well it was tragic for the horror. I personally think that was the worst scene of the movie. Bottomline is - I think this movie would benefit way more if it would just be advertised and sold as a thriller. Either that or focus more on the horror aspects, but the horror aspect of the movie completely flatlined after the fort scene. And I wish everybody would stop saying that the movie was only for the fans of the franchise, because I am one and I agree with plenty of points critics are making. You can have a good fanservice and a well crafted movie, I wish people stopped acting like one has to sacrifice the other.

For one the movie's pacing is boring and time wasting we spend to much time with mike dealing with his brother's abduction for the first hour to the point where you just dont care, then when he lands a job at the pizzeria he meets with Vanessa who serves no purpose apart from explaining what is going on and what is the premise for the audience, then we see mike having dreams with ghost children again and again eventually saying that if mike wants garret back they will need Abby FOR WHAT REASON i dont know and mike AGREES WITH IT!? initially like thats out of character for someone who loved his sister. Then there is this aunt and lawyer plot to get mike fired by breaking into the pizzeria which doesn't do anything since the burglars are all killed and leads to a predictable jumpscare so nothing come out of that plotline then the animatronics try to stuff abby into a suit but then Mike tases chica and the others meaning he had a taser all this time!? Then after tasing the other animatronics they have a ....... slumber party? I thought this was a horror film but f**k it. Then its revealed at the end that william killed the children which comes out of nowhere and is not fully developed even, and that Vanessa is his child and then she is stabbed (but survives somehow) then the animatroinics encircle William as he gets springlocked the Corny dialogue comes in with "i created you" and "i always come back" as he dies and the end. The plot is a piece of garbage all for fan references and easter eggs which makes sense since this was made for the fans but i feel like this is a poor decision because its labelled as a horror film meaning that many horror fans and the general audiences are going to expect a horror experience only to find more of a horror film made for kids and fans than a actual horror film. And that will effect the sequel since critics and other people will be less likely to see it after the first film which could've been avoided if they had tried to appeal to a much wider audience. And that fact people defend this film saying "its for the fans" is a bullshit one because its a excuse for the poor writing since they know fans will defend it as long that there is fan references or that they are die-hard fans and will defend it regardless cause the franchise has a HUDGE fanbase and that its not fair for newcomers or people outside the fandom, are they not allowed to watch or get a experience out of the movie? And financially its a poor decision like why only appeal to a small demographic of fans when there is a whole other demographics like horror fans, movie people, newcomers and the general audience and earn more at the box office because since people outside the fandom are likely to not go and pay to see the sequel along with the poor reception from critics the small demographic of fans might not work out in the long run. The RATING- there is very little gore and tension in the movie, while the games are pg-13 with implied horror the lore is not and that could've been utilised to build up the tension and horror that would made the audience care about these characters but instead it goes for a campy, thriller comedy appealing to children than adults and making the actual horror not there, this had potential if it was Rated R and that would've given the team more creative freedom but even then if it is PG-13 instead of trying to work around that rating and getting away with gore and other crazy scenes they use it as a crutch not a work-around The characters are underdeveloped and overplayed, Matthew Lillard was perfect as william afton but he doesnt appear for about 80% of the movie and we dont get a reason why he does the things he does or why he has a daughter or why he abducted mike's brother specifically, Vanessa gets barely anything at all apart at the end when she is williams father which comes out of nowhere and only used to explain whats going on and Mike conflict of his brother and his dreams are ok at first but get boring as its the same sequence over and over as he so called 'character arc' is him sleeping throughout most of the runtime . I know it appears like i hate the movie but what i will say is that the sets and animatronics look amazing, it really does capture the feeling of FNAF 1 even if the writing was awful, the acting was pretty solid especially from Josh And Mathew and the references and KZbinr cameos are of course good. but overall i feel immensely disappointed because this had potential to be great but instead we got this (still gonna watch the sequel) 4.5/10 Edit: i have only watched the movie once yesterday so my recollection of the plot might not be 100% accurate but i stand by what i said but its just my opinion and the events in my plot summary are out of order and its all over the place but i say its 95% accurate still but out of order

@@grathem9789okay few things, did not read the whole thing because I'm too lazy but, the part where you mentioned that Mike had a taser the entire time because he tased chica to save abby is completely false, the scene RIGHT BEFORE, is the scene where Vanessa tells Mike that the animatronic's circuits get messed up by electricity, and the easiest way to do that is a taser, of which she gives Mike multiple, seeing as they are in a Police restock area bunker thingy, makes sense as to why they would be there. (also side note, this makes complete sense, if any circuit is introduced to large amounts of electricity that shouldn't be in the circuit, problems shall arise) Another point, the fort scene happens before Mike lets them have Abby and the whole tasing, the fort scene is there to show that while they are robots that can kill with relative ease, the souls, they are still kids at heart, they don't know any better, they just want to play sometimes. Next point, when Mike agrees to give up Abby, he is in the worst state shown in the movie, he isn't in the right state of mind, and it's just a single moment of weakness before he realises his mistake, and what he truly desires isn't getting Garret back, it's Abby, and these type of moments are there to lead into the climax, but also to show that Mike isn't perfect, if you were in that situation, being told you could have exactly what you always wanted, at the price of what you have, you would very likely falter just as Mike did. One final point to wrap things up, at the end where it is revealed that William killed the children, and that William was Steve Raglan, the whole thing coming out of nowhere, one, that's called a plot twist and is quite common, and two, it is foreshadowed right at the very start, on the Steve's desk, there is a set of car keys, these keys have a charm on them, that charm is of a rabbit's foot. Then the part about the corny dialogue, William is a narcissistic serial killer, the whole point is that he believes everyone beneath him, and technically, yes, he did create them. Aside from all that which isn't entirely correct, of course, you are entitled to your own opinion, and I'm not here to change that, you can believe whatever you want, nobody is going to stop you. (P.S. Vanessa was stabbed in the stomach, she also mentions that she is a trained medical expert (smth like that) so she would likely know to put pressure on the wound while she is conscious, and surviving being stabbed in the stomach isn't that far fetched, it's not that rare)

@@blu8009 Ok look I literally said in my original comment that my memory of the movie is faulty and have only seen it once, second I knew you were going to mention the same defense for the fort scene so let me explain The fort scene defense is "Oh there just kids" well one I bet it was filmed to appeal to the younger audience, second it sorta kills any tension in any spookiness in the film from that point on, third aren't they supposed to be venegful spirits hunting their killer because its disrespectful to the source material because it implies that they can rationally think which they don't in fnaf 1 and is confirmed in UCN in "others like animals" meaning that they don't think so why listen to Abby and play with a security guard and about the Mike stuff it's hard to feel that he is in the worst state of mind when he just sleeps throughout most of the runtime and another thing the movie doesn't mention was why do the animatronics kill because they don't kill a guard or a child initially but they kill burglars and eventually want to kill Abby for some reason so they kill people for fun? Idk and the William thing, plot twists have to atleast be hinted at so we can get a idea about what is going to happen but the key chain is barely noticeable so it doesn't count and as for the corny dialogue it's not about Williams social complex superiority or anything it's just corny like " I always come back" makes no sense in the context of that scene and while yes he created them why say it outloud to be corny? I'm assuming you like the film and that's ok feel free to like whatever you like but Foundation comes before decoration and the best way I can sum up the movie is Foundation Weak, Decoration Amazing (Oh and Vanessa was stabbed and was bleeding out heavily after a few minutes she would've been dead so yeah)

Was advertised as a horror film, and in the adverts before the movie started, they showed other horror films and even a 18+ adult sex show series ad. Me and my bf went in expecting a horror film, surprised to see kids as young as 10 in there. The fort scene kinda ruined the, "oh.. so.. it's not a scary film." I get that they're kid's souls, but no where in any of the games do i see them playing with a girl and making a fort or being overly friendly without killing. personally the plot didnt feel interesting at all, the movie really felt carried by its visuals and its "oh its the thing from the game!" moments that you can discuss with your friends which did make the overall experience fun. makes sense why critics are harsher on it because you can't expect the average viewer to walk in with expectations from the games, so they're judging it on how it stands as a standalone movie (regardless of whether or not the movie is a love letter to the fans).

19:12 though briefly, they are mentioned when Mike and Vanessa are talking in that garage place towards the end during all the big revelations. I don’t know the exact dialogue but Mike mentions Max and her brother as being innocent and Vanessa replies that they were not innocent. Being she knew about them and 100% covered it up, even as far as to knowing who they are as people calling them “not innocent” and deserving of their deaths. They then go back to talking about Abby so I guess it was this movies way of closing that up with the bandits without spending too much unneeded time talking about them. I think the aftermath of their deaths were handled well and in retrospect were catalysts for all the events after the break in and not just shoehorned in.

I have a personal theory about the weird saw-blade Freddy mask. I think its a vision of a remnant extractor. this is before William Afton figures out that remnant in the key to the possession of the animatronics, all he knows is that when someone either has strong emotions or is put in the suits before death, their spirit possesses it. it's designed to illicit extreme fear thus when the subject dies, they die with extreme emotional trauma and then William stuffs them in a spare suit in an attempt to get it possessed. absolutely loved the movie, super fun to watch and activated all my dopamine receptors.

This was probably the best fnaf movie review I've seen yet. Not too biased as a fan to brush over the plot holes that I was also curious about, and ask the questions that needed to be asked, particularly how the thugs entering during the DAY was Mike's fault, why that fault is completely unadressed? (Maybe Vanessa covered it up the same way she covered up William's murders there. I also noted that she only said to Mike that the place was broken into, not that there were several dead thugs there. She probably had to hide them herself) And of course the thing with Aunt Jane, that was really odd how it is never addressed in the end, regardless whether golden freddy killed her or just knocked her out

As a long time veteran fnaf fan i was HUDGEY disappointed with the movie even if it was supposedly made for fans. For one the movie's pacing is boring and time wasting we spend to much time with mike dealing with his brother's abduction for the first hour to the point where you just dont care, then when he lands a job at the pizzeria he meets with Vanessa who serves no purpose apart from explaining what is going on and what is the premise for the audience, then we see mike having dreams with ghost children again and again eventually saying that if mike wants garret back they will need Abby FOR WHAT REASON i dont know and mike AGREES WITH IT!? initially like thats out of character for someone who loved his sister. Then there is this aunt and lawyer plot to get mike fired by breaking into the pizzeria which doesn't do anything since the burglars are all killed and leads to a predictable jumpscare so nothing come out of that plotline then the animatronics try to stuff abby into a suit but then Mike tases chica and the others meaning he had a taser all this time!? Then after tasing the other animatronics they have a ....... slumber party? I thought this was a horror film but f**k it. Then its revealed at the end that william killed the children which comes out of nowhere and is not fully developed even, and that Vanessa is his child and then she is stabbed (but survives somehow) then the animatroinics encircle William as he gets springlocked the Corny dialogue comes in with "i created you" and "i always come back" as he dies and the end. The plot is a piece of garbage all for fan references and easter eggs which makes sense since this was made for the fans but i feel like this is a poor decision because its labelled as a horror film meaning that many horror fans and the general audiences are going to expect a horror experience only to find more of a horror film made for kids and fans than a actual horror film. And that will effect the sequel since critics and other people will be less likely to see it after the first film which could've been avoided if they had tried to appeal to a much wider audience. And that fact people defend this film saying "its for the fans" is a bullshit one because its a excuse for the poor writing since they know fans will defend it as long that there is fan references or that they are die-hard fans and will defend it regardless cause the franchise has a HUDGE fanbase and that its not fair for newcomers or people outside the fandom, are they not allowed to watch or get a experience out of the movie? And financially its a poor decision like why only appeal to a small demographic of fans when there is a whole other demographics like horror fans, movie people, newcomers and the general audience and earn more at the box office because since people outside the fandom are likely to not go and pay to see the sequel along with the poor reception from critics the small demographic of fans might not work out in the long run. The RATING- there is very little gore and tension in the movie, while the games are pg-13 with implied horror the lore is not and that could've been utilised to build up the tension and horror that would made the audience care about these characters but instead it goes for a campy, thriller comedy appealing to children than adults and making the actual horror not there, this had potential if it was Rated R and that would've given the team more creative freedom but even then if it is PG-13 instead of trying to work around that rating and getting away with gore and other crazy scenes they use it as a crutch not a work-around The characters are underdeveloped and overplayed, Matthew Lillard was perfect as william afton but he doesnt appear for about 80% of the movie and we dont get a reason why he does the things he does or why he has a daughter or why he abducted mike's brother specifically, Vanessa gets barely anything at all apart at the end when she is williams father which comes out of nowhere and only used to explain whats going on and Mike conflict of his brother and his dreams are ok at first but get boring as its the same sequence over and over as he so called 'character arc' is him sleeping throughout most of the runtime . I know it appears like i hate the movie but what i will say is that the sets and animatronics look amazing, it really does capture the feeling of FNAF 1 even if the writing was awful, the acting was pretty solid especially from Josh And Mathew and the references and KZbinr cameos are of course good. but overall i feel immensely disappointed because this had potential to be great but instead we got this (still gonna watch the sequel) 4.5/10 Edit: i have only watched the movie once yesterday so my recollection of the plot might not be 100% accurate but i stand by what i said but its just my opinion and the events in my plot summary are out of order and its all over the place but i say its 95% accurate still but out of order

So i would like to share some of my thoughts. The mask that was used at the start of the film and almost used on mike i believe is the reference and a show of what happens when you get caught by the animations. where they are stuffing you in a particular suit. and yeah i woulda liked the blackout scene, maybe during the end where they all turn on Afton, the lights go out and the iconic scene plays from freddy When max and the gang broke it, they entered through a side door that was not locked. and we were told that vandels do break in and it was Mike's job to ensure no one breaks in. As Afton was only a career manager, if any other bosses learned that it was destroyed AFTER Mike "closed up" then it would be seen as negligence on mike's behalf, which again could cause him to lose that job if any one other than Afton himself owned that place. It does make sense on why no one talked about the sudden disappearance of max and them as well Mike more than likely assumed Max got tired of not being paid so she just chooses not to talk to him. Which would be a understanding leap for mike as he was already not very good mentally. And Aunt Jane did not say anything as she did not want to be tied back to the fact she hired them to destroy the place. Considering when this movie took place, people not appearing for a few days is not too uncommon as each one was stated to be a negative piece of society. Max's death was to make ppl feel remorse about her dying. She clearly was not comfortable with what was going on, but did show that for the fact she allowed it to happen instead of going to the police or telling mike, she was just as responsible. Heck there is a good chance that Max met Jane one day while working for Mike, as Mike more than likely told Max about parts of the situation with Jane. I do wish we learned if Jane had been oofed by golden freddy or not, but for all we know it could be something to be talked about in the next movie. I think the pacing was kinda speratic was on purpose. To Emulate how it felt in game where sometimes it felt slow, dull and overall kind of just building the tension. While other parts were super fact where things happen so fast I feel like a lot of the missed opportunities in the writing are done as a way for ppl wanting more things for the next film. Is this a good writing style? eh no not particularly but can be done well. Lastly, with the bodies being in the animatronics, yeah woulda been cool if they actually addressed the fact that the bodies were hidden in there, slowly decaying with mucus and blood seeping from the suits

I personally give it 9/10 but these are some excellent criticisms. I was 16 when FNAF came out originally so I sorta grew up with the franchise as well and even used Multimedia Fusion in high school which is in the same family as Clickteam Fusion 2.5. 4 in particular used to give me anxiety when I would think about it, sitting in my room, sleep deprived. I kept imagining the nightmare animatronics in my room. I even had a dream with red eyes and fangs in the darkness but I was the jump scare, lunging at them. I'd say the movie was definitely worth the 8-year wait. I laughed at Max getting bitten in half and joked that it was the Bite of 2000.

I actually find it kinda interesting how, for most of the points you list in the "part where [you] call it bad", I feel completely in the opposite direction about them. Vanessa being expo dump? I actually had no clue wtf she meant half of the time. Like, I knew she was dropping lore here and there, but other than that she was way too vague for me to make any sense of her character. The pacing of the climax? It actually felt slightly slow, mostly because it was very back-and-forth, but I *liked* it. The responses and reactions of characters? For Mike, as an example, I felt like his "go to Hell" line was soooooo fucking realistic. Like yes get his ass!!!! If I was just run ragged by a bunch of robots and tackled by a 200 lb grown man in a 100 lb robot suit who turned out to be my brother's killer, I too would feel angry enough to do something, but too incapacitated to make that action physical. A simple "go to Hell" was so much more effective (and real asf too, if i had the chance to tell that to W.A. i would lolol) than some emo lament or whatever the alternative from Mike would be. Either way, I agree with your points about missed potential and pacing. A longer movie with quicker pacing would be so much better. But let's address the real problem in the room... why did Mike's mom leave to get paper towel when she dumped her drink mostly on the grass???? LADY JUST LEAVE IT BE LIKE DAMN 😭

I've been following this franchise since the start and this movie killed my entire love for it. The idea that Scott has learned so little from his own games and what made them effective floored me, and for me the beginning of the end was at the very fort-building scene that you loved so much. In FNAF, the animatronics are creepy, and they're so haunted by their past that they hunt you down - indiscriminately. The choice to humanise them to such an extreme degree that they'd willingly be the friends of the protagonists and behave like that feels like such a betrayal of everything I loved about the original games. I have no idea whether the fans who are actually enjoying this movie jumped in so late to the franchise that they don't even remember a time that it was supposed to be creepy or were watching a different one altogether - if Scott can't even understand the basic appeal that made his first game so successful there's no hope. A truly abysmal experience that has well and truly told me that this franchise isn't for me any more - if Security Breach wasn't to be my first offramp.

The FNAF movie illustrates to me that good ideas are nothing without good execution. The ending scene was really what stuck with me, as, the scene before Afton’s death was incredibly anticlimactic, considering his significance in the wider story of FNAF. That picture was the only thing in the movie that I was genuinely mad about. However, as discourse around the film became louder, I listened, and I finally learned the significance of that scene. It was apparently foreshadowed by Abby’s caretaker when she said that “pictures are how kids communicate”, and that’s why it happened the way it did, but I can’t help but think that this scene could’ve been done a lot better. The groundwork was there but they failed to build off of it. The scene is so abrupt with very little discussion between Mike and Abby beforehand, so when you see it in the cinema for the first time, it feels bullshit. Like “wow, THAT’S how Afton goes out?” Even if it was done better, though, I think the concept itself is just inherently cheesy, which isn’t a bad thing! We’ve seen cheesy concepts be used effectively before. Like the power of determination and friendship in Undertale. There’s just a lot of missed potential in my opinion.

Great video, you pretty much summerised my entire feelings towards the film. I loved it but also have to critise the script. One thing I do want to say is that I feel like Garrett being kidnapped in Nebraska and not where the film takes place (Minnesota) is definitely leading to more events that could be revealed in the 2nd film. One theory I've read and feel has merit is: Garrett was a targetted kill with Afton having history with the Schmidt family. Maybe Mike isn't actually a Schmidt, and William wanting revenge after the family get custody of him. Then after Wlliam kills Garrett, he realises he enjoys murder and finds himself luring more kids. But anyway if there is a 2nd film I would love to find out more about Garrett as I feel its strange that although a victim of Afton, he isn't haunting anything (though this could be just because he was killed without any animatronics around.) Again, well done with the video. I will be showing this to my friends once they have finally seen it.

I think the biggest problem was not the movie itself, but rather the marketing of the film. With the trailers and the Halloween release date it led people to believe they were in for a slasher movie, and what they got instead was almost more of a psychological thriller. For casual moviegoers who just picked something to see on Halloween without researching it much, it was probably a bit of a disappointment.

16:10 Why Nebraska? William Afton had a motive for seeking out the Schmitt's, it was revenge. Mike's mother is Mrs Afton who left William while she was preggo with Mike. In the books it is mentioned that William is insanely jealous of his business partner Henry. Mrs Afton and Mike ended up with Henry where they later had Garrett and Abby. One hint we have of this in the film is the Schmitt family photo where Henry is using rabbit ears on Mike. Another hint is when Mike asks Vanessa, "Who the hell are you?" She replies, "Just someone who wants to help." Vanessa clearly knows that she and Mike are siblings. Otherwise she'd care less if he lives or dies. Anywho, the enraged William discovers the Schmitt's location and travels to Nebraska to kidnap Garrett. "You stole my son so I'm taking yours!" This theory would explain a LOT.

My favorite part of this movie is that my kids really like it. It's the start of their possibly love of scary movies they can watch with me in the future.

I think the Freddy mask thing was based on this passage from the first night of the first game: "Uh now concerning your safety, the only real risk to you as a night watchman here, if any, is the fact that these characters, uh, if they happen to see you after hours, probably won't recognize you as a person. They'll [p- they'll] most likely see you as a metal endoskeleton without its costume on. Now since that's against the rules here at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, they'll probably try to... ..forcefully stuff you inside a Freddy Fazbear suit. Um... now that wouldn't be so bad if the suits themselves weren't filled with crossbeams, wires, and animatronic devices, especially around the facial area. So you could imagine how having your head forcefully pressed inside one of those could cause a bit of discomfort... ..and death. Uh, the only parts of you that would likely see the light of day again would be your eyeballs and teeth when they pop out the front of the mask, heh."

My main bad thing is the “house” scene. That’s when the movie started to feel like a fan fic or a SFM movie. It felt even more like a fan fic once Vanessa revealed William is her father. It seemed pretty confused on how what the movie wanted to be. But I’m still amazed we actually got a movie. I remember seeing it in development hell and I actually believed we were never getting a movie. Glad to be proven wrong

Here’s my take on the break in, for the movie’s defense. 1. You said Vanessa barely brought it up with Michael. But like you said earlier, she saw him lock up and with Max going in the garage, she probably figured out that Mike was innocent. 2. What are the chances Max knew someone saw Mike lock up? You talked like Max should have known Vanessa, a member of the police, went out of her way to watch Mike lock up the pizzeria. 3. You asked why breaking in the place would make Mike look bad, but I think they were showing most villains, not telling. Chances are, if Jane wanted to, she probably could’ve realized how dangerous Mike’s job was and lock him in the building. But she wasn’t thinking. The animatronics could’ve been dangerous, or Mike could’ve stayed later. But Max wasn’t thinking about it when she suggested breaking in. Not only did the movie show those villains in action and establish who they were, but then it established that the animatronics were dangerous. The plot point was to show, not tell. Now we know Jane is not a perfect parent, and she gathered no information about the restaurant before making a decision, so could she be trusted with Abby? We also know why Freddy’s is a bad work place, the animatronics are murderous.

@@grathem9789 personally, it was alright. I think they bit off more than they could chew. If they could not get Afton more screen time, his reveal should have been pushed back and the big bad be the animatronics who had Abby. Then the after credit scene should be that while Mike is leaving, the Puppet, whose music box was never opened, is out and is helping Mike remember details. Important: I’m not saying undo Mike’s progress in the next movie, but maybe he recognizes Afton’s car, so Afton has to draw him back to cover his tracks.

I think the Mario Movie, as well as this one, might begin a trend of video game movies. They do poorly with critics, but are loved by fans and make the moneys. I don't necessarily hate that outcome.

The fnaf movie was a solid 5.5/10. Been a fan since the first game theory on fnaf and have been following ever since. I was excited about the movie and I still think it's okay. It does not deserve 8s or 9s. It doesn't have good dialogue or story telling. Instead of being subtle like the games you just have Vanessa coming in and lore dumping. It's an okay movie, I'm going to watch fnaf 2 because of course I am. But this movie was not AMAZING.

I liked the movie but 2 things that are kinda missing for me 1. In the trailer mike sleot then suddenly all the tvs and music started janking him awake. This seemed to be the first night something happened, and never was in the movie 2. Stekovs gun, the guy at the beginning said "the electric is juttery, aometimes it goes off and you need to reactivate it "(like the power in the game) And that also never paid off, in any way, the only time the electric spun even a little bit was bonnys guitar

To be fair, critics critique movies on their own merit. And if you make a movie for enfranchised people, you will not catch disenfranchised people, it's that easy. The Mario movie was literally 80% references and not much substance for example. Fans adore it because of it, and critics don't care for it. And in my opinion, if you make a movie to target enfranchised people, you miss out on a broader audience. If you try to cater to a niche, you will stay in that niche, and lose on money which in turn might shut the doors for sequels. And to be honest...It's a kids movie...which I don't get, because most of the enfranchised people watching the flick...are grown-ups now.

I have a hard time when people call this a Kids movie. Sure it's got light hearted elements, but putting it in the same league as Mario or Disney movies is just wrong imo (if that's what you mean by "kids movie"). especially with the underlying material in its backstory and some scenes. This movie is definitely making bucks at the Box Office, it's clear that the Movie was gonna do well regardless, and sequels have already began to swing in motion

Tbh, the Mario movie was equally as awful when it comes to storytelling. I enjoyed both, but that's only because I'm a fan and enjoyed seeing these franchises on the big screen, bit I won't tell anyone they're wrong for thinking thses movies are utter garbage.

It's theorized that the whole Nebraska thing is because mikes father is supposed to be henry (we can see someone who looks an awful lot like the father working on the animatronics in the training tape) and Afton did his whole revenge ark against henry. It's unknown if its the same ark as in the books or games, but that's what we think it is most likely as scott usually think about things before just having them exist. Chances are that afton wanted revenge on henry so took garret when they were on vacation in the woods as afton could clear his name with a false alibi if needed and basically completely clears him of suspicion anyways. There's more to it, but I'm tired of typing so yeah

24:10 id imagine that the bodies would have fully decomposed to a skeletal structure considering the movie is seemingly set somewhere in the 2000s? Thus the mucus and blood and potentially the smell details would not be relevant given enough time over the 20 or more years passed I guess?

my theory with william afton being in nebraska is that it was a targeted attack on the schmitt family… i think theres a good chance that mike’s dad is the movies version of henry, and therefore garrets death is similar to charlie in the games 🤧 it would make sense to me if afton stalked the schmitt family out on their vacation, which also would make afton recognizing mike make even more sense,,, not just the brother of his first victim, but the son of his business partner

Minaxa you are a legend. This is the ONLY way this movie should be viewed. It’s based off the original game which had a simple storyline. They followed the storyline and added some bits and pieces of “character” for the animatronics. After all, they’re still kids.

Ok so i have a few counterpoints for some of the "bad" parts you explained 16:17 So for the very first one, it is VERY clear that Mike's brother was a TARGET not just some random kill, he even recognizes Mike's last name, which proves he knows Garret's last name too, also don't forget the fact that he's targetting Abby too. He has some kind of beef with this family, although it's unsure what kind of beef. With the next two points I agree 100% with you 17:47 This one counterpoint I have is a bit iffy but yk, it's unknown which animatronics were built first, so my theory is that foxy is the oldest built. Which therefore makes him the easiest to break. So he probably broke sometime after the closing of the pizza place (or yk someone for some weird reason could've stolen his sign 💀) The movie is a different timeline than the games after all so u never know 18:10 Onto the next point, he DID lock the door, but if you pay close attention they break in using an alternative door, which WASN'T locked, and probably explains every other point in this section. 18:56 So, this one is easily explained, since Vanessa never filed that report, no other police officer knows what happens, so no investigation is started. And for the next point I also agree Aunt Jane probably DID recommend her to Mike, because if you remember, she was looking for anything to use against Mike in court, at the request of Aunt Jane. 20:40 Since Golden Freddy did teleport away, they probably went to go get rid of the evidence OR Aunt Jane woke up and ran the hell out of there, both without Mike knowing what happened. Again for the next point, I agree, although if she is alive then there will probably be another topic on her in one of the other (possible?) future movies. 21:20 This was probably done so non-fnaf fans (like parents, critics, etc) could understand the movie without having a ton of info tossed to them at once. 22:03 If they didn't spoil it then yea it probably would've been a better moment (it was for me since I basically tried to avoid any fnaf trailers on purpose but my friend did spoil the last part) 22:40 Once again, I agree. 23:17 Mike was under alot of stress and adrenaline. He was probably trying to save his energy so he could make it to the hospital in time (His leg was hurt VERY badly thanks to foxy and the cupcake, he was KICKED IN THE HEAD WITH A **METAL** FOOT, etc) so yea he probably just didn't have a ton of time to think over things. Although I do agree it would be better and more funny if they went in an all out brawl XD. 24:44 This is probably due to Afton, not wanting his little secret to get out to the public after a night guard's first shift. He probably cleans them very often, or atleast often enough that the blood and mucus doesn't show but the dust does. Also with his control over the children, he is probably one of the only people able to do the cleaning. and with the "questions" I also agree, but they're most likely saving these for future movies And to end this whole thing: I can see what you mean in these points but after thinking a bit on em a few of them can be easily explained and disproven (although some of them are guesses, its yk). Reminder its perfectly okay to criticize anything! Again, I just wanted to explain my thoughts/opinions and counterpoints on some things! 😅

Coming out of the theater i enjoyed the film. Now i could definitely see alot of flaws when it came to the execution, but i was having a blast despite how jarring some things were. I think perhaps my favorite part of the film was seeing the golden freddy outfit not just move, but interacting with things outside the pizza plex.

Mike Schmidt and Abby Schmidt in the movie is supposed to be the Michael Afton and Elizabeth Afton in the movie's universe. It's been stated many times that Abby is based off of Elizabeth, and the springlock doll animatronic was going to be a version of Circus Baby. So they're still adapting the Aftons, it's just that Aftons kids are no longer related to him, if that makes any sense.

Generally, I’ve found that movies that do some things extremely well but also have serious rough edges tend to be really interesting to analyze, and I think this movie fits that description. It actually kind of reminds me of Pokémon: The First Movie (both the Japanese and localized versions), which have a similar divide between critics and the target audience.
