It's so true! I had very love self-esteem when I was little. I liked one guy in our school and he knew it but he liked another girl. And one day, our teacher called pairs, girl and boy. And we had to say something about each other that is true, doesn't matter if is it good or bad. My classmates said different things about each other, good and bad. And suddenly, our teacher called me and that guy. No one knew I liked him. It was just random action. And in front of the class, of 30 teenagers, he said that I am very beautiful, clever, and funny. Beautiful... No one laughed or made any comments. It was like something quite obvious. I was 13. It changed my internal world forever. I'm 44 now. And I still remember that day, that guy, every single word, and my reaction.

Men will play you, I'm not dumb and have been played a lot. Too many narcissists and games. I was married to my best friend and he cheated and abandoned me with babies. All my friends have been rejected after having kids with their man. Please be careful don't let them ruin your life. I am on a mission to tell young women. All the women I know are not that happy with their husbands or they've been screwed over. Make sure you are financially ok and not depending on them and don't put up with disrespect. It's hard to find a good guy after your 20s and when they're young they're immature. After 30 they're all damaged. And I keep attracting men who pretend to be straight. Watch out for that.

the best way to impress the egoistic men is ignore them, challenge them mysteriously and he will go crazy about you..show them that you're not that desperate and play with their game of love.
@tyanthony-james9091
@tyanthony-james9091 8 жыл бұрын
+Gbc Means Love But let's say the guy is attractive and just so happens to be shy because his entire life women and men have ignored him and have tried to attack his confidence because they so insecure about his attractiveness, comparing themselves to him, when in fact they are just so desperately needy and possessive of him, making him believe this entire time that he is not attractive. Might mess up his entire life, but women are selfish and manipulative by nature. It's really up to the man to dominate her socially and let her know that he is attracted to her by touching her and by simply being a man.

When we were young, we did this. Compliment someone to a third party. It’s because we don’t have the confidence to say it to their face. My ex was not generous at compliments. Even when he did, they were backhanded. So I’ve learned to compliment people without a moment’s hesitation. It creates such an uplifting feeling for everyone. Life is beautiful when we make each other feel good.

So you've learned...meaning you did not give people compliments, yet you whine about not being given compliments. I swear, most women when they get a compliment they're just like "thanks" and never, ever give one proactively or even reactively.

@@ararune3734 I’m always appreciative of compliments. I’m talking about giving compliments. For example, when I was young and found a guy cute, I would not say it to their face because it felt awkward. It takes a certain courage to pay someone a compliment because one never knows how it will be received.
@ararune3734
@ararune3734 7 ай бұрын
@@thusharividanagamachchi9779 It does take some courage. When I was a teen, I wouldn't give any compliments, not because I didn't mean it, but because it was just awkward and didn't know how to say it, it's exposing yourself. Nowadays I give many compliments and I've learnt to be a much more supportive person. Though I still never will compliment a woman on her looks, just because of the sheer amount of hurt and emasculation I've been through, it makes me uneasy to show anything that can be interpreted as interest. The most I did was compliment a uni colleague on her outfit.
@thusharividanagamachchi9779

@@ararune3734 it’s so relatable. I’m sorry to hear you had to go through these experiences and they make us hold back our authentic expression and women can react to compliments in a negative way because of their own trauma. When we’ve been wounded, compliments can hurt because they remind us of the unworthiness we’ve experienced growing up. I believe the best way to heal ourselves and others is to express what we feel in our heart through complements, regardless of how the other person receives it. It’s all about healing our collective emotions and feelings of unworthiness.

When I was 10 years old a couple on an airplane kept staring at me, and then told my mom right in front of me that I was beautiful and should be in modeling. Never in my life had anyone said that about me. I thought I was ugly and very plain. Now I make sure to always find things to compliment people about. It sure made a difference in my life because I had no self esteem whatsoever.

I found out what my boyfriend's love language is and was surprised to realize that I had been doing it the whole time we'd been together. His is words of affirmation and I always tell him how proud of him I am and how great he is at things that he excels at in life. It has taken our relationship to such a deeper level of commitment and connection. I couldn't imagine a more perfect man for me. For all the women saying Matthew is the perfect man, remember there's no such thing. He is human and I'm sure he has many flaws. He's found a nice way to make a living and he goes with that but u don't see what goes on when the camera is off. I'm sure he's a great man, but no one is perfect.. However for each and every one there is someone who is perfect FOR YOU!

@@t.lc.777 Congratulations!! It honestly is amazing finding your true "perfect for you partner"! When I commented this so long ago I thought the relationship I was in at the time was it for me, I later found out that it wasn't and it was one of the worst heart breaks I've ever experienced in my life. However, I spent the next 2 years working on myself, rediscovering who I am on my own and learning to love the real me outside of being with someone else. I am now engaged to my TRUE "PERFECT FOR ME" person and although the road isn't always paved with smooth asphalt and we have to dodge potholes and bounce over gravel and even go through some mud at times, our love is always strong enough to overcome it.. I will say that we have found that communication is most definitely the key to overcoming the battles. but it's not just the communication, You both have to be willing to say "I'm sorry"...

Compliment openly! No need to be shy. Early on in my life with great losses it has been learned we may only have so much time with someone and that one good thing, one compliment, one generous exchange of genuine truth could change the entire course of someones day. I believe it is important to give the compliment when there is an impulse to. It feels good to make others feel good about themselves too. Yet, it must always be with truth.

Hey Matthew - Im a counselor working with people on Probation/parole and have CPS cases. Within the curriculum that we use, 1 of the sessions is on “giving and receiving compliments”. I’m so glad you brought this topic up. This is one of my favorite sessions to teach/facilitate. I have everyone pass around the group a piece of paper with their name on it and everyone has a chance to write a compliment. Then I give my patients an opportunity to read the compliments others wrote. They then journal about how the compliments made them feel. Often times, this is the first time someone has said something nice about them. I love watching how people leave the group that day - high up on the clouds!

It's a great thing to be specific about what you like about another person, and then share that with them. It can build vulnerability and intimacy, even on a smaller level. It is equally valid and important to supply that affirmation for yourself, to yourself... It's important to be enough for yourself 1st; or else you can risk being someone who is searching for compliments and validation because of personal insecurities.

This is a valuable tip. No only for getting a guy/girl, but rather for making friends in general. We all have our insecurities, and having someone just tell you something new and good about yourself can make a world of difference.

two things to say: 1) Your accent is really neat, and no, i'm not saying that because of the video :D 2) I know what you mean. I like that, when people complement me to my face. I also like when people notice something new and instead of asking why i did that or saying (for example) 'You got a HAIRCUT!' it's nice when they say (calmly) 'I like your haircut!' 3) Another complement: i like that you're people-smart. That's a good thing! I like to watch your videos!!!

Excellent video. I want to make a vlog episode about this point. We don't complement a lot as human beings, it's easier to judge people because it takes less courage and effort, but with complimenting, people think about the risks of rejection and what they don't think about is the fact that they might change someone's day in one sentence. Thanks for inspiring me!

The things you say are scary brilliant - i knew this on an instinctual level but recognized it first now when you pointed it out, its so obvious now that you have said it, yet I have never thought about it like this before :D keep doing what you are doing man, you don't only give advice on guys but you help regain women's confidence and that's beautiful, so thank you for doing what you do :)

The reason no one tells us our nice things is bcs we ourselves do not recognise and acknowledge them. Once we stop focusing on our flaws, and begin to highlight our positive traits, we will begin to attract more compliments in our lives. 💗

I got complimented today after a guy saw me smile.. and they said I had a beautiful smile that changed my day, and people treated me differently because I felt better about myself! it's the little things. so I responded maybe a little ....silly but said thank you and merry christmas! and smiled again at them. I don't smile much as I am very shy, so people have to catch a smile to see it; im bashful.

Nope. I compliment people all the time. For their character, work ethic, looks. Anything. And all to no avail. Even my really mean ex used to ask why I loved him (because he never believed me) and I gave him truthful answers, even though he treated me horribly. He ended up cheating on me, breaking up with me, and to this day continues to torment me

So true for girls as well. I was always told that I was smart and everyone told me only that. Last night a man I was sleeping with interrupted for a second and said "you are beautiful" (not in english but that doesn't matter). I've never been told that and it might seem superficial to some, but it totally made my day, maybe even my weekend.

Thank you Matthew Hussey. Coming from a Life Coaching background.. And sharing your videos with my guy friends..(which can even imply to them and their insecurities) you have broadened my mind and my standards. Just a suggestion.. I know your videos focus primarily on woman but maybe you should expand and give some guys tips too. When I share your vids with them they are like.. Wow.. I wish I didn't put girls on "pedestals" that make us too shy to talk to.. or do that thing that he said we do. Thanks for being the voice of reason that we so often need.

Totally agree. I paint funny designs on cars (just cause) & get comments about the paint job everywhere i go, am used to it. But one day was driving through a drivethrough in one of these cars. When the The young guy working at the window saw the car, he said "I like the way you express yourself". It was so different and unique to the usual and standard comments i receive. I will always remember that. Thankyou to that random guy at KFC Mawson Lakes (South Australia) 😃❤❤❤

I agree people don't validate others enough during conversation and tell them encouraging things maybe since they are not feeling good about themselves...so feel less if they compliment the other person. I can't respond fast....everything is delayed...like an Autistic person..may say it in my head, but not out loud. You can usually tell by a person's expressions what they are thinking without saying the words.

Hi, dear Matthew. I found this techniques work well with most of the guys but it didn't work for my ex. I was involved in a verbally abusive relationship. When I told him the compliments he told me . 'awww, you are not too bad yourself...'At that moment, I sense something wrong. Then he became quite verbally abusive like calling me awful names, trying to push me down, saying he is too successful for me . I broke up with him, then he said I am controlling and abusive because I broke up with him. I took his stereotype comments personally for 8 months after the broke up. Yesterday I went to the therapist, I decide to move on. After the session I understood I was in a verbal abusive relationship for so long since the beginning. I think many women experienced that . Matthew, I look up to you a lot, could you please do a episode on 'verbally abusive relationship' and how to walk out of the abusive situation. Thank you so much. Miki

Wanna hear something silly? I'm often complimented about being smart. I'm often teased about being too kind (that I'm a pushover). Last summer, a lady told me I had a beautiful smile. And no one had ever told me that before. (I have a huge insecurity about my crooked teeth.) She made me light up the whole trip and she still does whenever I think of her compliment, whether it was genuine or not.
