Kids are bored. They don’t have places to go anymore. We had the mall, limited too, music store for cds, roller rinks, movies, just anything really. Now everything is done on the phone and they don’t leave their house. When they go go out there’s no place really for them anymore. But the parents don’t teach their kids right either. Clothes are ordered online now so they aren’t used to stores and etiquette since their parents don’t take them out in the world and teach them

There used to be arthouse cinemas and second run cinemas that made for good cheap entertainment or date nights, yeah, those are gone now. These places used to do late night screenings for stoners a long time ago, that would be a thriving business now with increasing weed legalization but yeah, it's all gone now. I'm glad weed is getting legalized but it doesn't mean much to me without the socializing.

My brother is recently retired police officer. The way he explained it is that they look for the license plate number and the vin and input it into their computer to see who or what owns it. If it’s a Waymo car it’s supposed to trace back to an owner. They’re supposed to contact the owner of the vehicle and inform them that the car was involved in an accident since the computers don’t always do that. The problem with that though is that one Waymo car can be traced to multiple owners. Some people will purchase multiple Teslas, for example, and rent them out for this very thing. Those cars are traced to the actual owner of the cars and the owner of the app. It’s annoying and it pisses cops off.

@mcrchickenluvr The company should be held responsible. That's a death machine on the road, and they need to be held accountable for their creation. I read not long ago that someone involved in an accident with a self-driving car was underneath the vehicle, which proceeded to drive over them and drag them for a short while. A human would have the object permanence to know the person was under the goddamn car and NOT drive.

@@douglasseelye5073 What parks? A shocking amount of homes (especially the working class) don't have publically available parks anywhere near them. If they find a park, what are they supposed to do in it? because so many "public" areas are actually controlled by private companies and have a myriad of rules most notable "no ballgames". And that's assuming that someone doesn't call the cops about a bunch of "scary youths " "loitering" in the area. If you don't give young people constructive places to hang out, shoplifting and other terrible things are an inevitable response.

Feels like parents stopped taking accountability for their kids around late Gen Z/early Gen Alpha. Playing off genuinely abhorrent behavior from these kids as “oh that’s just how they are” so they won’t have to work towards teaching proper behavior. Either parents anymore are just too lenient, or they’ve given up entirely.

@minminhyungie Thankfully, I'm one of late Gen Z that was actually taught how to be polite and respectful. Learned from my parents, my school, and of course the cartoons I watched growing up. Kids today are too overprotected and the parents just give kid an iPad/phone so they don't have to deal with them. When I have kids I'm gonna make sure they know how to act, and definitely not giving them a phone until they're much older.

I agree with you on everything except for one thing. Here in America, a lot of grocery stores especially Walmart, have removed the overhead signs. They now have confusing aisle signs that read "aisle F 24" having 24 F aisles, with no listed items. And workers don't know where everything is. We've been yelled at by a few frustrated workers, and other employees had to open the app, location, and type in what we were looking for in order to help us. Also, the aisles aren't in alphabetical order. So it's hard to find the aisle you're looking for. The store apps map won't guide you step by step unless you need it, but it's helpful.

Archaeologist here. Aside from the VR headsets at the Colosseum possibly being related to COVID restrictions, it's becoming more and more popular to include VR/3D reconstructions on archaeological sites, either on a touchscreen, in a movie, etc. Archaeologists put hard work into this. For Rome specifically, I know that in the Baths of Diocletian you could/can get a VR headset to walk around and see the Baths as they once were (it's very impressive). I'm assuming, though of course I can't say for sure, that the VR headsets show reconstruction(s) of what the Colloseum used to look like. Though, I think that tourists should also still look at what the colloseum looks like now, as that part of discovering the layers of history.

The Louvre actually has Nintendo 3DS to do part of their self-guided tour. If the VR was to say “and make sure to go this way when you’re walking through” or did a quick little history lesson or debriefing attendees “please don’t touch walls as the oils in our hands can stain the stone; please keep your voice down for other people who are actively studying the Colosseum” then I would get it. But it does seem REALLY dystopian to have people in VR headsets sitting only a couple feet away from the actual colosseum. 😅

And just to clarify, I don’t have a problem with VR, AR, or assistive technology for tourism. It’s a great way to debrief customers and tourists on how to be respectful, enjoy their time, and get the most out of their trip while following rules. However, if we’re going the direction of replacing real-life experiences with digital tours and calling it “good enough” then that is a concern. After reading some other comments clarifying that clip from the Colosseum, that clip was likely from 2020 COVID times, so I don’t think they’re doing that currently. And I wanted to clarifying, assistive technology for tourism would be great! (That way we don’t have another Jake Paul lets loose in Japan, films a dead body, leaves an octopus tentacle on the trunk of a taxi, and gets kicked out of a sacred temple for being a fricking prick. If someone was there to debrief him “hey please don’t yell or film in the temple, it’s a sacred area for Buddhists and even non-religious Japanese as it’s part of their culture” maybe he would’ve thought twice. As for employed kids, there's a job shortage in this economy (the media says labor shortage, but it's a hiring shortage), and the jobs are going to the people with the most flexibility in their schedules, which generally isn't kids, unless they've dropped out of school. Really, from a business perspective, people under 18 are the demographic with the lowest impact on profits, so I'd wager that this will not have a significant negative impact on the profit margins of the businesses which institute a ban. @@jaylambert599There’s a general consensus about “people these days” being more aggressive, which I do agree with. The biggest cause of death in teenagers behind cancer and suicide is motor vehicles fatalities, something you have to deal with in most car dependent countries with “stroads”, most common in America with those 8 land wide streets with huge parking lots and no trees or sidewalks, neither functioning as a street or a road. This terrible infrastructure makes impossible to walk places, making you drive, and thus add one more car to the problem. And because teenagers can’t walk places we gave them cars to get around, and thus and adding more cars to the issues. I could go on a lot more about bad infrastructure but if you want to learn more watch the KZbinr “Not Just Bikes” During the… I’d like to around early 2000’s(?) there was a LOT of fear about kidnapping after it started spiking in numbers. Some say this spike was because of some illegal immigrants being big name human traffickers, others saying because of a bad criminal justice system (for example, giving pedophiles 10 years in prison but people who sell weed 20 years for petty drug distribution, or even just not convicting some kid creeps because they haven’t acted which in all reality is morally wrong but understandable because we don’t need the government who is and isn’t a creep), and some other supposed reasons like a mental health crisis, etc. This gave birth to helicopter parenting, having a tracking app on your kids phone, preparing them for the worst, doomsday scenarios, safe words, going with them everywhere. There’s a lot more to speak of but I’m lazy and don’t want to type more. There’s plenty of videos and articles talking about it. I live literally 3 minutes away from my friend on foot. 3 MINUTES!! I am too but I feel like I'm more frustrated/mad at the parents of the kids and not the children themselves. Kids are naturally curious and a bit of a gremlin pushing boundaries because they're still learning what is and isn't acceptable socially. That's why parents are supposed to care for and teach them, but today many of them are totally absentee out of selfishness or neglectful, and let the children run wild with impunity. You can't throw that BS excuse "well they're so busy with work" because my mom was busy AF (I was a latch key kid and household chores) but took the time to explain patiently and teach me if I ever got out of line like a tantrum in the store, and the value of a dollar on wages/income. Parents, I'm sorry but be a parent, kids aren't house plants that you have to water once a week.

Some members of your generation (like my niece) haven't even been BORN yet and people are already telking you you're doomed and a failed generation or whatever BS. Don't listen to these stories from these miserable vultures that are condemning you before you even had a chance to prove yourself! What you see on social media are just the worst outliers and they have existed in every generation ever (one of them just became president of the US), they just didn't get as much attention in the past. I know it must be soul-crushing to hear the adults talk about you and your peers in this damning way, it's incredibly toxic. But the reality isn't nearly as doom and gloom as everyone is making it out to be. Generation Alpha is gonna be just fine, like all the other generations before them. 12:54 As someone who works at a small store with only a handful of employees present at any given time, an app like this would actually be pretty helpful. Customers constantly ask us where find items, even if said items are in their field of view. Some customers don't want to look themselves and would rather want us to grab the item for them even if they were perfectly capable of doing it on their own. Not only is this a waste of time, but it means that less employees are available to check out customers, blow up balloons, assist customers at self-checkout, and help out customers that actually need help. This is especially becomes an issue when the store is really busy.

It’s also worth noting that even if those tapes do work now at that price they will likely sit there for a while and by the time someone does try to buy them they will likely be mold-eaten and/or smell like vinegar because film is a very tasty snack for lots of bacteria that is probably already on the film and it is only a matter of time before it starts to rot. None of this even considers the fact that those tapes have already been used and vhs tapes wear down with every use because of the reader going over the film. It’s highly likely that those tapes don’t have mint-condition picture quality because of that and even if the tape is still in plastic wrap or something like that it still is unlikely to be in mint condition due to the fact that tapes rot over time, it’s why we moved over to DVD for crying out loud, because vhs tapes were not shelf stable!

that sounds so cool! i’ve wondered from time to time what it would be like to walk through ruins while they were still in their original condition

@@goobertime2119 it was an awesome experience! people often forget a lot of the statues and stuff that are plain white now were actually colored, so it was cool to be able to see the ruins of places colored an unburied. there was a buried house we got to walk through and the ar recreated the courtyard with the plantlife and everything. it was so unique and incredible

Yeah I did a 5min Google search and found the company that does the tour. You do still get to go I to the colossuem and there is a bus tour. I feel like some of this rage is bit misplaced

ikr, some people just want to get as close as they can to experiencing the Coliseum when it was in its heyday. it’s just another way to get a taste of ancient history and as long as you still get to walk around the real ruins, i don’t have a problem with it

Ai is genuinely so fucking scary in everyday life, there is no way in hell I am getting in a car that is not driven by a human, I'd rather walk and be late.

Like McDonald's is no longer for poor people, a homemade meal is cheaper, quiker and better then that trash.
