I’m no chemist nor do I do ANY skin care beyond sunscreen, but it PHYSICALLY PAINED me to see her combine those bottles together. 🥲🙂↕️😭 Like, this is how people get chemical burns! They combine things together that they shouldn’t, and the chemicals react and physically hurt you! I feel like skin care is similar to birth control: people do it because they were told it’s normal, but they have no idea what the real consequences of it. Yes, some people have atrocious acne that requires medical intervention and skincare. Yes, some people need to do it to protect their skin, especially after consistently wearing makeup. However skincare is entirely a trend SUBMERGED in capitalist consumption that its normalized to completely destroy your skin with things it doesn’t need, because you were told to do so. You don’t need a 20+ step twice a day skincare routine??? If you do think you need that, then maybe your skin has become so dependent on these products that it can’t function on its own. For example, if you wash your hair everyday, your hair will produce oils to protect it, and it has to do it very quickly to keep up with showering. Forget hair products, just focus on the basics. If you forget to shower ONE DAY, your hair will be a greasy mess, guarantee. But if you spread out those days when you clean your hair (not saying don’t clean yourself at all!), then you’ll find that it gets greasy slower. Everyone’s hair is different. They can go three days without wash (like my hair) or they can go 7 days without a wash, and their hair won’t be greasy. Skin care is similar to this: it’s likely that your skin is so “terrible” without a routine is because it’s been so used to the chemicals dumped on it that it can’t deal not having it. I’m not saying it’s bad. I’m just saying that there needs to be some critical thought behind what you put on your skin. If you find your skin needs some support after wearing makeup all day, go ahead. If you find your acne can be helped with some creams, go ahead. Moderation, y’all

Not only mixing skincare etc, but also re-packaging alone can be dangerous. Sun cream for example is notoriously "unstable". If you put it in the wrong container or the wrong plastic, it could degrade itself, or warp/"melt" the plastic. Its not that any of it (either the product or the container) would be dangerous itself, its the combination and chemical reaction.

The fridge safe is a bit smart 1. Those with special need kids. They may want to be extra safe with these kids 2. Living in a rented room like college students 3. Kids if they want it bad enough nothing can u stop you unless you lock said items away. They are KIDS 4. Keep your family from stealing your food. Also we arn't addressing a real possible underlining issue here. Some people with chronic OCD cant function normally, so storing stuff in matching containers even when they come in containers is how they manage to live a 'normal' life. And making these products is useful for these people. THIS DOES NOT MEAN WE ALL NEED TO DO IT.
@disappointedharpy5 ай бұрын
Hello, I have chronic OCD, and while I do sincerely appreciate the take that it might be helpful for some folks with OCD, it would likely cause more harm than good. Reason being, the obsessive and compulsive factors means that they wouldn't necessarily _want_ to have things organized like that, they _need_ to have things organized like that. If it has reached a point where it is making a noticeable and often detrimental impact on their lives, they need to seek help with their OCD. Because at that point they are being puppeteered by the OCD. I would know, I ended up getting depression because the OCD was controlling me so much. I'm through that now, and I know that encouraging behavior to appease the OCD is not how it is treated. Also, forgive me if I'm reading too much into it, but I'm assuming from your last sentence you have OCD too. I'm going to assume you already know all this (and likely everything I wrote before), but if not, feeding the compulsions is not healthy and will lead to more suffering over time. It takes a lot of time and work, but disobeying the compulsions is the correct course of treatment. If you already know all this I apologize for my rambling, and I hope this comment may help others who don't know about OCD
@TheGlowingSnowLeopard5 ай бұрын
@@disappointedharpy i do understand that feeding it wont help, (i have ocd, but a fewother issues) but it could be a very short term solution for some with it, not everyone can afford insurance in america and also may have more on their plate than ehat they can handle, (aka what im going through) it could also end up as a coping mechanism to do this for some, im really only trying to point out we dont know the full story with anyone online, so getting upset at all this 'waste' could infact make it worse on the person Im not the best at wording stuff 😭 Also made this comment when it was like- 3 am for me, so did not help with wording 😭
@disappointedharpy5 ай бұрын
@@TheGlowingSnowLeopard I understand all those issues, genuinely I do. I ended up having to work through my OCD on my own with minimal guidance from a therapist (it was super hard, but very beneficial imo) so I get that some folks can't afford therapy. In general I mainly just wanted others to know that encouraging bowing to compulsions isn't healthy for anyone involved. It may genuinely be a coping mechanism for these folks, I don't know enough to judge these cases, but if it is a coping mechanism it needs to be known that it certainly isn't a healthy one. Also I'm truly not upset, I just wanted to point out that it isn't healthy so others don't look at it and go "oh I do that, that means I'm healthily dealing with my OCD" because it isn't. I do get the possibly making it worse part but a part of confronting OCD is to recognize what is causing you harm, and I took that stance which may come off as harsh, and for that I apologize. I made that comment at roughly 3am my time too, so I suppose I wasn't the most eloquent or well put together with my words. Speaking of, no worries about wording stuff, you did just fine and made a coherent and compelling argument, imo typos don't really mean too much as long as you get your point across and you did, so if you can don't worry about it too much, yeah?
@ariaa2465 ай бұрын
for the third point: ok, kids are just kids and if they want something really bad, they will do everything to get it, right? But does that really mean that you have to buy a SAFE to put in your fridge? 😭 Can’t you just put it in a high place or hide it where kids cat’t reach it, exactly like we all do from generations? You really have to buy a FRIDGE SAFE? What a waste…
@TheGlowingSnowLeopard5 ай бұрын
@@ariaa246 this could work, but also could result in injury to the child. We all know the trope of the cookie jar on the fridge, the kid climbing to get it and falling and hurting themself, so for some who know their kids will do this, a safe in the fridge may be the SAFEST option. Aswell as some disabilities in kids make it so these situations may happen more often. So the safe in the fridge is a simple solution to avoid the injury of a child.

The funeral party bag is a thing that's been around a long, long time. In certain pockets of black american culture (especially in the south where I live), it IS a party when someone dies. Not that they're happy about it, but they truly view a funeral as a real celebration of life. So, this is more of a cultural thing, not an overconsumption one. This has been a thing since at least the 1980s where I live, probably more. 9:30 what really sucks about this is that none of the stuff they’re putting in these mini fridges will get you full, or will even hold you over for any longer than 5 minutes. “Oh im hungry! Let me take something out of my mini fridge” and it’s literally just like ten grams of pure sugar in the form of some candy or dumb “snack”. Mini fridges should, in my opinion, only be used for things like mini sodas or like ben and jerrys ice cream containers. But mini mason jars filled with candy? Half a cup worth of water/milk/juice?? @@lisastarchild yeah and its totally understandable!! somewhat recently my cousins grandmother passed away and i had known her, and i went to the funeral. it was a very lighthearted and funny funeral and it honestly made me feel alot better about losing her rather than just wallowing in grief. ive been very fortunate to not have to deal with much grief, this was my first time dealing with a person dying (only pets before) so i dont really know how my family usually does. from what my grandmother speaks of the funeral it seems that funeral was unique, though

So we have this 'apple farm' at the front entrance where the little ones can 'pick' apples and see where they come from in the trees. Ofc we do not leave them on the ground, we have cardboard boxes that have safe paint and ink and crates that make them look like tractors, so we can 'pick' the apples and encourage them to eat more fruit. Also, at 9:39, I actually kept a mini fridge out of trying to control my ED and have smaller portions to help me develop better eating habits again. ^^ ❤ Love your vids flambéing the overconsumptions of this day and age.
