I miss when people weren't over-consuming to rage bait innocent people on the internet who can't afford to throw money away like that... it was a simpler time.

The skincare smoothies remind me of the time I was 10 and took a shower at my aunt's, and she had lots of fancy salon shampoos I had never heard of. I thought if I mixed them all together, my hair would be super healthy and shiny. Well, the next day, I woke up with the greasiest hair ever, and it took my mom 7+ times of washing and hours to get all the oil out. I quickly learned that these are just worthless luxury items to make people feel special temporarily and won't make your hair, skin, or whatever part of you any better. This is just compulsive shopping and object proliferation.

The fridge safe is a bit smart 1. Those with special need kids. They may want to be extra safe with these kids 2. Living in a rented room like college students 3. Kids if they want it bad enough nothing can u stop you unless you lock said items away. They are KIDS 4. Keep your family from stealing your food. Also we arn't addressing a real possible underlining issue here. Some people with chronic OCD cant function normally, so storing stuff in matching containers even when they come in containers is how they manage to live a 'normal' life. And making these products is useful for these people. THIS DOES NOT MEAN WE ALL NEED TO DO IT.
@disappointedharpy
@disappointedharpy 11 күн бұрын
Hello, I have chronic OCD, and while I do sincerely appreciate the take that it might be helpful for some folks with OCD, it would likely cause more harm than good. Reason being, the obsessive and compulsive factors means that they wouldn't necessarily _want_ to have things organized like that, they _need_ to have things organized like that. If it has reached a point where it is making a noticeable and often detrimental impact on their lives, they need to seek help with their OCD. Because at that point they are being puppeteered by the OCD. I would know, I ended up getting depression because the OCD was controlling me so much. I'm through that now, and I know that encouraging behavior to appease the OCD is not how it is treated. Also, forgive me if I'm reading too much into it, but I'm assuming from your last sentence you have OCD too. I'm going to assume you already know all this (and likely everything I wrote before), but if not, feeding the compulsions is not healthy and will lead to more suffering over time. It takes a lot of time and work, but disobeying the compulsions is the correct course of treatment. If you already know all this I apologize for my rambling, and I hope this comment may help others who don't know about OCD
@TheGlowingSnowLeopard
@TheGlowingSnowLeopard 9 күн бұрын
@@disappointedharpy i do understand that feeding it wont help, (i have ocd, but a fewother issues) but it could be a very short term solution for some with it, not everyone can afford insurance in america and also may have more on their plate than ehat they can handle, (aka what im going through) it could also end up as a coping mechanism to do this for some, im really only trying to point out we dont know the full story with anyone online, so getting upset at all this 'waste' could infact make it worse on the person Im not the best at wording stuff 😭 Also made this comment when it was like- 3 am for me, so did not help with wording 😭
@disappointedharpy
@disappointedharpy 8 күн бұрын
@@TheGlowingSnowLeopard I understand all those issues, genuinely I do. I ended up having to work through my OCD on my own with minimal guidance from a therapist (it was super hard, but very beneficial imo) so I get that some folks can't afford therapy. In general I mainly just wanted others to know that encouraging bowing to compulsions isn't healthy for anyone involved. It may genuinely be a coping mechanism for these folks, I don't know enough to judge these cases, but if it is a coping mechanism it needs to be known that it certainly isn't a healthy one. Also I'm truly not upset, I just wanted to point out that it isn't healthy so others don't look at it and go "oh I do that, that means I'm healthily dealing with my OCD" because it isn't. I do get the possibly making it worse part but a part of confronting OCD is to recognize what is causing you harm, and I took that stance which may come off as harsh, and for that I apologize. I made that comment at roughly 3am my time too, so I suppose I wasn't the most eloquent or well put together with my words. Speaking of, no worries about wording stuff, you did just fine and made a coherent and compelling argument, imo typos don't really mean too much as long as you get your point across and you did, so if you can don't worry about it too much, yeah?
@ariss246
@ariss246 4 күн бұрын
for the third point: ok, kids are just kids and if they want something really bad, they will do everything to get it, right? But does that really mean that you have to buy a SAFE to put in your fridge? 😭 Can’t you just put it in a high place or hide it where kids cat’t reach it, exactly like we all do from generations? You really have to buy a FRIDGE SAFE? What a waste…
@TheGlowingSnowLeopard
@TheGlowingSnowLeopard 3 күн бұрын
@@ariss246 this could work, but also could result in injury to the child. We all know the trope of the cookie jar on the fridge, the kid climbing to get it and falling and hurting themself, so for some who know their kids will do this, a safe in the fridge may be the SAFEST option. Aswell as some disabilities in kids make it so these situations may happen more often. So the safe in the fridge is a simple solution to avoid the injury of a child.

Even if (and I highly doubt that) the little thingamajig they had going on could somehow hydrogenate the water, hydrogen gas is super light and its particles are so tiny it would literally escape through the teeniest holes/non airtight points. Put in all the hydrogen you want, it will just fly away the next second. Oh, it's also flammable and creates a combustible mixture with oxygen, so watch out around your aesthetic candles!

Being that passionate about skincare and not knowing the first rule not to mix hundreds of active ingredients together on your face is simultaneously hilarious and concerning. Skincare and makeup are the new casual toy commodities for young girls. I hate that app, man. I'm so glad I never got sucked in except for like, literally just to participate in a meme once in 2018. I do like the idea of the toddler fridge. Its really good to promote children to be independent and make their own choices. Its VERY beneficial for their critical thinking skills, and it feels good for them to be their own person. A 3 year old is old enough for preschool they arent babies anymore they are toddlers. Who can usually talk, walk, and are capable of many chores and such. I work at a preschool and kids as young as 2 and 9 months are VERY capable of making their own decisions. Giving them a fridge of snacks and drinks they can decide to have if they are hungry or thirsty is wonderful! Of course as the parent decide of they are capable of making healthy choices. And stocking it with things they are capable to open on their own and are good for them.

@@pprtwl maybe, but I do think that she was over reacting when it comes to the toddler mini fridge, as it is not that wasteful, assuming the drink containers are reusable, it's no more wasteful than just buying snacks for your toddler, other than the carbon emissions from powering the mini fridge, but even then it's negligible in the grand scheme of carbon emissions, and in my experiences mini fridges are pretty durable, I have one in my garage and it's lasted me since the beginning of the pandemic and still going strong. I'm sorry for my long response and I really don't want to sound hostile, but my point is that interms of wastefulness it really isn't that bad and the woman in the video is (in my opinion) over reacting
@pprtwl
@pprtwl 10 күн бұрын
@@mongoosexcobra nah, you don’t sound hostile. But imagine not one, but a million of these fridges are produced, that’s a pretty big carbon emission (I mean, most of the carbon emissions are literally from factory production, so literally the factories that produce these fridges and all of those obsolete items you see at Temu or SHEIN or whatever!). No need to create a solution for a problem that does not exist! There is no need for more than 1 fridge in a house. That’s just bordering on overconsumption. There is no need for aluminum coffee pods for the espresso machines (we don’t actually even need any personal use nespresso machines honestly) neither 20 different stanleys, or little gadgets for your bath. It is already a privilege if people have a whole bathtub in their houses in the first place! A lot of these little gadgets will end up in landfills, and we can’t recycle them yet (and I don’t know if ever), so now in turn we are subjecting other humans and animals to life in pollution!Also 4 years of life is like the bare minimum for a fridge, ideally, if planned obsolescence wasn’t a thing, they would last more than 100 years.

The funeral party bag is a thing that's been around a long, long time. In certain pockets of black american culture (especially in the south where I live), it IS a party when someone dies. Not that they're happy about it, but they truly view a funeral as a real celebration of life. So, this is more of a cultural thing, not an overconsumption one. This has been a thing since at least the 1980s where I live, probably more. I've been seeing the airbrushed memorial t-shirt (and even truck/car design) since I was a kid and I'm an old fart 40-something. The rest of it, yeah, nonsense.

9:30 what really sucks about this is that none of the stuff they’re putting in these mini fridges will get you full, or will even hold you over for any longer than 5 minutes. “Oh im hungry! Let me take something out of my mini fridge” and it’s literally just like ten grams of pure sugar in the form of some candy or dumb “snack”. Mini fridges should, in my opinion, only be used for things like mini sodas or like ben and jerrys ice cream containers. But mini mason jars filled with candy? Half a cup worth of water/milk/juice?? For the period bath I kind of get it. I have horrible horrible periods. Crippling pain that I only get relief for 30 minutes with prescription painkillers (adenomyosis) hot baths give me relief as long as I'm in the bath. The second I'm out the pain is back. So I have been known to spend hours in the bath- things like a small snack or something to do in the bath is reasonable and understandable. I'm not defending the over consumption side of it but just providing context why some one might for example have a snack or want to project a movie onto their wall during a bath.
