The Controversial Start to Mercedes

Mercedes-Benz makes the most advanced, luxurious, and performance-oriented automobiles on the planet, and this achievement is not a fluke. They’ve been pumping out innovative and technology-inclined groundbreaking vehicles since the founder, Karl Benz introduced what’s considered the first petrol-powered car in 1886. The rear-engined, three-wheeled automobile changed human transportation forever and presaged the trailblazing automobiles that Mercedes-Benz continues to produce to this day. Mercedes-Benz vehicles are manufactured in 30 countries around the world and were the first to have brakes on all four wheels, beginning in 1924. Mercedes-Benz vehicles not only help us get to places day-to-day, but they also feature on racetracks around the world as high-performance race cars.
Carl worked intensively on a gas-driven two-stroke engine to make his vision of a 'vehicle without horses'. After long and backbreaking attempts, he got the engine running for the first time on New Year’s Eve in 1879. This would not have been possible without the help of his wife. Supporting all her husband’s activities and sharing his pioneering spirit, Bertha Benz was a key factor in the success of Carl Benz.
She was the first person to undertake a long-distance journey with a petrol-driven automobile, just to demonstrate the everyday suitability of the motor car in practice - driving the car with her sons, Eugen and Richard, in the backseat for a 100 km journey from Mannheim to Pforzheim to visit her mother.
Mercedes-Benz isn’t all about looks and power, they were among the first to deal with pollution concerns through the introduction of the catalytic converter in 1985. By the early 1990s, their diesel car range had completely switched to four-valve intake/exhaust systems, and carburetors were dropped in favor of fuel injection systems.
Throughout the years, Mercedes has built their trust with consumers and managed to keep it sustained without any hiccups. Today, they are a brand of stature. Standing tall and in pride of its fleet of luxury cars.
