Thank you, I tried to use a lot of information that people should gain before making a conclusion on the subject, always appreciate it when someone notices one of my dumb visual puns 😂

I have considerable experience with American bison, although I prefer the binomial Bos bison, as they are entirely interfertile with cattle (Bos primigenius taurus). I was once director of science on the Nature Conspiracy's Niobrara Valley Preserve in Nebraska. We had two herds, occupying 7,000- and 12,000-acre pastures. One evening I drove out into the smaller pasture on an ATV and spied the herd a couple of small hills away. Wanting a closer look a drove over the first hill and saw the entire herd charging right at me over the second hill. I headed for home, but with the setting sun in my eyes I was afraid to open the scooter up so as to try and avoid unseen holes and ruts. If had dumped the scooter they would have been on me in seconds and I was pretty sure they didn't want to play. So I putted along with the herd just behind me for two miles before they gave up. There's something about ATVs that really annoy them. Before my time there the crew had attempted to use ATVs in the annual fall roundup. At one point a bull hooked an ATV and threw it over an 8-foot fence. They didn't try that again. Horses also didn't pan out, as the buff didn't respect them and could run from one end of the pasture to the other all day, while the horses blew up halfway through the first leg. In my time they're settled on pickup trucks, which is damned hard on trucks trying to keep up. Speaking of taxonomy, I heard the notion that the wisent may actually be a stabilized hybrid of the steppe bison and the aurochs. May account for their tendency to browse, although that may be an artifact of their having been restricted to woodlands in historic times. Given access to decent grass, I'm betting they would prefer to graze. Any thoughts?

I've not heard of that theory but it's intriguing, I'll be sure to look more into it, thanks! Also look out for an aurochs video in the future I've been meaning to make one for years.

I guess it’s just the old fashioned views many hold about wildlife regeneration. It’s kinda embedded into our culture that bison, bears and other megafauna are threats that humans must work against. I really think this project will help stop those myths and educate people on them just being animals.

K.W.T. makes a big, big mistake; still, I'd rather 1,000,000 of these, than 10 of "foreign invasives".
@GeorgeTheDinoGuy2 жыл бұрын
By “foreign invasives” what do you mean? Like water buffalo or…?
@nicksweeney51762 жыл бұрын
@@GeorgeTheDinoGuy Definitely not Water Buffalo; I definitely meant Category "Or".

@@GeorgeTheDinoGuy Water buffalo is technically native of Europe and UK too. And would have positive impact on Wetlands ecosystems
