this might work if ppl are far enough away, but for closeup there are some major problems, mainly the gaps, sounds and you really have to do the lift while ppl are not watching, it can look weird

I'm glad you shared this, before watching this I made my own not knowing how the "Cooler" gimmick worked. I think the paper version has closer edges and doesn't make a clicking sound when performing in a quiet room. Thanks all the same, I hope it worked for you in performance.

If it comes pre-assembled, everyone has to use the same deck. I don't use bicycle cards, so I would be upset if it forced a deck on me.

Thanks for saving us from being misled by the promo ad. I resent the way dishonesty is disguised as caution when trick designers pretend to protect the secret but are misleading customers with 'selective information'. We're having 'magical doublespeak' used against us to extract money. It would not expose the tricks if we could at least petition for a standardised rating system for tricks (like on movies or food) where tricks could be rated C as 'complete', RC as 'requires construction' etc. ,

@@douglaspantz Haha! you made me laugh douglas! Yeah, sounded a bit crazy but I meant the rating on food where it has to tell you how much sugar, salt, fat etc is in the food according to a little table of RDAs that is standardised so we all know 'the score'.

Thank you for explaining and demonstrating this trick. If the adverts for these things were more honest, then we wouldn't have to reveal tricks and we wouldn't have to be so wary of buying them. These days buying a magic trick is a shot in the dark (often costing hard-earned cash for a disappointment) unless we have help from someone like you. Thanks again MrHoudini.

Buy some polymorph plastic, mould it around a playing card and a card box then decorate it and you've made the cooler, put some holes in the frame of the card box and put some plastic on the side of the card so it locks in.

I own this and it is made of cheap plastic and it doesn't look like a card box once it is put together as it is bigger than a card box and shows the plastic where the stuck on card box doesn't fit together. You wouldn't want to leave it lying anywhere in sight of a spectator as it is obvious it isn't a normal box. They do suggest using a card box with no white edging on to hide the gap on the top but it doesn't stop the rest of the sides lining up. I paid £40 for mine and I will never use it.

The deck you are switching to (deck 2) perhaps needs to be blue for this to be most deceptive. (?) I agree that it is going to be hard to misdirect especially with any spectators around you. There are simply better ways of switching. Thanks for the review. I will be giving this one a miss.

Not worth $50.00 I made one out of old card boxes that requires much less misdirection and hey it looked just as convincing if not more so without the obvious "gap" and it folds up flat for a clean ending. Cost: $12.00 & 30 minutes
