Many claim he made Hendrix the legend he was because Eddie actually made Jimi tune his guitar correctly and put the time in to practice before recording such amazing records as "Electric Ladyland". Not long after Jimi died I was having a pint in the double A. Pub in Airdrie Scotland with Eric Barret's younger brother. Eric was Jimi's stage manager. He knew that I played guitar and asked if I wanted to come down and see it. Unfortunately I had to pass because I stayed up at Longrirggend about ten miles away and would have missed my last bus home. I know Eric also got the white strat and Monica Danneman got the black one. Do I regret this now ? Not really " I've still got my guitar" to quote Jimi. Have a peaceful Christmas.

Sort of true if you watch the old Jimi vids where he played Gibson, the neck scale didn't fit his new experience playing ... as was kind of the case for Leo strats, oddly the CBS - 'Woodstock' version was dialed in to Hendrix and made his style rock-et. ‘The pressure seemed to have eased off at that point. He knew he wasn’t happy with the Band of Gypsy’s, but he hadn’t got anything else going on. It was a very comfortable time for the two of us. Whence the idea came I know not-maybe the management, maybe Jimi , maybe a bit of both-but the plan was “why don’t we-form the Experience?’ I suspect the deal was that he would ultimately cover some of the places we’d not been to, like Japan and Australia; in fact rumor has it there were people selling tour jackets for Japan. Of Course, we never got there in the end. I’m not sure how Noel got the call but I don’t think he’d even seen Jimi for six months. There was a meeting at the management office in New York with the three of us and then a lengthy interview with Rolling Stone, during which we announced the tour. After the interview Jimi went back to his apartment and I went back to my hotel and within a few hours I’d got a call from him. ‘Could we meet up?’ Musically the conversation was over in a very short time. It came down to ‘What do you think?’ I knew that he meant Noel. It was very tricky. Jimi and I had great affection for Noel as a player and for his humour, but something didn’t feel right.’ The Hendrix Experience, Mitch Mitch &John Platt, 1990, @p.146.

Idk of it's worth noting but unless the pickups in the original have been documented being a 67 with gold hardware the pickups could be patent # or t tops. Gold hardware got used slower since it's on less guitars. That's why you occasionally find gold PAFs in the mid 60s, and gold patent # as late as 69.

@@zosojstro yeah I’ve thought about what Jimi would’ve done if he lived longer...considering lots of 70s rock stars went for fancier, novel guitars (Travis Bean, Dan Armstrong, Alembic etc) I’m sure Jimi might’ve dipped his toe into high end, highly customized guitars at least for a while. Of course most of those stars came back to traditional Gibson/Fender so I’m not sure that experiment would’ve lasted for long but for sure, Jimi would’ve went for something wackier in search of different feel and tone

Eddie Kramer was Jimi Hendrix's engineer. He built Electric Lady Studios. He was also producer/engineer for Led Zeppelin, KISS...Oh man. I can go on forever. Eddie Kramer is to engineers what Hendrix was to guitar playing.

The same Eddie Kramer that worked with KISS? Well that's an important guy right there

I played an original V for years. NOTHING should have ever been changed from it. It wasn't broke so why did they fix it???

I still find it strange that guitar manufacturers are essentially trying to counterfeit their old guitars.
@charlesbolton84713 жыл бұрын
It’s not strange at all. People are paying huge sums of money for actual vintage guitars. Fender, Gibson, and others can make exact (or close enough) replicas and sell them for a fraction of the price. It’s a win for the company and a win for the buyer. However, it has gotten to the point now that occasionally the new guitar costs more than the vintage one such as the Adam Jones Les Paul and it happens at Fender also the Chris Stapleton Signature Amp has had the same affect on vintage brownface Princetons.

Trogly @14:35 "the only choice you have with these is left handed or right handed for the V anyways". Trogly what's the other choice? 🤣😂

"A guy named Eddie Kramer . . . I'm so glad so many people picked up on this and yet no one educated The Trogly who Eddie Kramer is - and more to the point since I'm South African is that Mr Kramer is one of ours, also a South African and also for those like Trogly who don't know, Mr Kramer produced every single one of Jimi's recordings. Just saying. If anyone knows anything about Jimi Eddie Kramer will know. Now I've put that to rest. Did I hear the rest of the review? Not really.
