THE COOLEST COLOR EVER!!! Painting my BMX Frame

Painting my DK BMX Frame the coolest color ever! I found this cool color shifting chameleon color and had to get it! I might paint my whole bike this color, what do you think? This video kinda show you how to paint a BMX frame. Step by step how to strip the old paint off, prep the frame, and paint.
This is my favorite frame. The DK Phase frame in 20.6, it has a minor dent from my first session but it doesn't bother me at all! LOVE THIS FRAME
How to paint a BMX bike (frame).
What you'll need:
Gloves that won't allow liquids to pass
Paint Stripper, I prefer the aerosol version (Spray on let sit for 15 mins)
Wire wheel or brush, can also use Steel wool or sandpaper (Brush off stubborn paint)
2-in-1 Paint-Primer Black, I prefer rustoleum (spray in light coats 2-3 total)
Chameleon paint (Spray in light coats as many coats until you get the desired results)
Gloss clear coat (Spray 2-3 medium coats, be careful this creates drips easy)
2K clear will also work great but wear face protection because the fumes are strong

I'm painting my bike with purple Duplicolor Metalscast. I got recommended this video when I got done doing color tests on some steel tubes. Yours turned out cool I hope mine turns out like that too!

Also I noticed the short quick blast method you use when blasting the paint is that better for stopping runs ??? And after. I was told to steel wool it. Or to wetsand it which is preferred method ??? I'm working on both but want to check with some bodyshop guys to see their input Also the COLOR SHIFT paint , make sure shook can well cuz it will get splotchy easy if not shook up well

DIY tip: If you ever need to fix a dent in a frame and don't feel like messing with Bondo, you can use super glue and baking soda as a quick and easy alternative. Baking soda dries super glue instantly and makes it 10x harder than it usually is. Just get a dollar tube of super glue and a cheap box of baking soda, squeeze some super glue into the dent and then dump enough baking soda on the glue to cover it. Clean off excess baking soda and repeat until dent in fully filled in. After that, you can sand it smooth and paint as normal.

What do you guys think about painting bmx bikes. Good bmx bikes. I have gotten a couple nice bikes lately. Got a sunday forecaster. A sunday primer and a kink. They all had original paint but the paint was very scratched and stuff. I ended up sanding down my forecaster and respraying it and now it looks brand spanking new.. I got the decals and everything for it, but I feel that the originality of it faded away. Do you guys think a bike is worth more as it is even if the paint looks bad. Or respraying it and making it look new?

Could I put masking tape around crankcase bearings instead of taking them out, I find that easier and I’ve done it before

Do you do anything to where the bearings sit? Or do you just jam them back in there on top of the new paint?

I don’t usually do anything with it, I just grease it and put the bearing back in! Never have any issues with it, but if you’re going to paint your frame often it might be nice to tape them off that way you don’t have to worry about getting the paint stripper in there to remove the paint!

Hmm...if you paint the forks and other parts , will the shades match? Seems like they would be a shade lighter or darker. Curious. Really like the paint job though.

The way I remove the original powder coat paint is with paint remover. Then I use a razor blade to remove everything. After that, I sand the whole thing until it'e perfect.

If you can get water sealed in the frame and freeze it then that dent will pop back out.

Is this paint durable? I spray painted a bike with rattle can Rustoleum. Rustoleum is definitely not durable.
