If I'm in the market for one of these? Um... considering that nobody in America has ever even heard of it, i don't think there _is_ a marketbfor them. But yeah - i want one.

They’ve been in Canada since 2009 and you can find a lot of info at delica.ca - things to look for that are known issues with the L400 are harmonic balancer, coolant expansion bottle and injection pump main shaft seal. These are usually replaced by the importer at least in Canada. They are great rigs. This one in the video looks like a nice build.

Get one, you won't be dissapointed, make sure you check for rust underneath though as if these are not looked after you will be in a world of pain as the subframe is double skinned and prone to harbouring rust between it. That is the issue I had with my first one from 1994 and eventually needed so much welding I had to get rid (due to last owner hiding all the rust/holes behind filler and undercoat), I love them so much I am currently waiting on registration of another in the UK, a much cleaner rust free one. The diesel ones are simple 4m40 engines and I rebuilt the last one myself they are that easy to work on. They can come with issues like Jesse said but if you learn the engine they can be worked on yourself with no trouble at all.

I live in the U.S. and just picked up an 94 L400 Space Gear. Super great van. I was gonna buy and spend a bunch of money lifting and decking out an AWD Astro but for the money and time I would have spent on the Astro this thing has got it all and more. Drives and handles very well around my narrow city streets, the highway and in the woods. Very pleased with it.
