Goldman Sachs is what you think of when you hear the words ‘banking’, ‘Wall Street’ and ‘market crash’. The investment banking group is over one hundred and fifty years old but has kept its name since setting up way back in 1869. It’s a money-making machine that has invested in the likes of Spotify and Dropbox and was even the lead booker of Twitter.
It’s even committed almost 2 billion to philanthropic initiatives. But the name ‘Goldman Sachs’ is also synonymous with corruption, market manipulation, offshore tax havens and insider trading, to name but a few of his controversies.
Yet for all of these good deeds and sins, the giant of commerce wasn’t started by a hedge fund manager or stockbroker, but a humble immigrant with a knack for business and a hunger for the American dream. So how did a German immigrant build what would become an international powerhouse of finance? How unethical is the company? Will it be around forever or will it finally get its comeuppance?
It’s time to learn How History Works as we unravel the history of Goldman-Sachs.

Actually the Chase Manhattan Bank( founded in 1799) acquired Jp Morgan for 36 billion dollars in stock in 2001, you see JM dominated wholesale banking while Chase dominated retail banking, that merge would instantly create one of the biggest financial investment firms in the world, JP MorganChase moves more money in a day than most countries earn in a year

Wow, what an eye-opening history of Goldman Sachs! It's incredible to see how this company started from humble beginnings and grew into such a powerhouse in the world of finance. However, it's also disappointing to learn about the numerous controversies and ethical lapses that have plagued Goldman Sachs over the years. It's disheartening to see a company with such potential succumb to greed and corruption. Thank you to the creator of this video for shedding light on the complexities of Goldman Sachs' corporate history. It's important to learn from the mistakes of the past in order to build a better future. I'll definitely be subscribing to this channel, "How History Works," as well as checking out the other channel, "How Money Works." Keep up the great work! 🙏📈
