Another important tip about space in your drums is using reverb to push some of the sounds back. If the hi-hats or snare fill enough space in terms of frequency, but they sit too forward in the mix, using a reverb tends to fix that most of the time. Great video as always Navie!

Thought this was just gonna be a generic video about how sound selection is important, but this is some solid advice. You’re definitely one of the best beatmaking channels, it’s hard to find instructive content like this that’s not aimed at beginners. You’re also one of the only content creators I know of whose beats aren’t trap/type beats which is nice to see

Truncating sounds works very well. "Space" is also a consideration of time. The more time a sound takes up, the space it takes up. Shorter sounds leave much more room. Instead of trying to fix a crowded mix with EQ, a good trimming and fading might get you at least halfway there.

Absolutely 🔥 content! I was wondering about the expansionary technique. Do you put the vintage saturation on the whole drum buss? I often have phasing issues when sending it to an aux track and mixing it in. Also, the kick usually loses its low end punch when putting it on the whole drum buss. Any tips or info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again for the tips and tricks 🤟

When I started no one 'pro' was using FL and look at it now. The tool is irrelevant. The only consideration that matters is how comfortable you are using it eg does it enhance or stifle your creativity because that can affect the final product coming out the speakers. And I'll repeat this until my dying breath, if you learn the theory of how sound works then you can use any tool to get the result you want.
