This is the greatest explanation of VWAP. I'm just sorry I found this video so late. I guess I was using it basically like describe, but I was never able to grok it like you just allowed me to do... explaining how the institutional traders use it and all. Amazing. The only question I have is this - is VWAP still relevant? I see everyone talking about it and using it still, but I don't feel like I get as much use out of it anymore. I suppose institutional traders are one step ahead of us again, huh? ha. Okay, I do have another question... if VWAP is now sooooo 2016, what is in for 2019? :)

Yes VWAP still works as effectively as it always has. We use it every single day. Honestly, there really isn't a need for 'lots' of indicators because PRICE and VOLUME are the most important things we use. Cheers!

VWAP doesn't have any setting. It's default settings .

Those are standard deviation lines. They are just a reference to show when price is getting far away from vwap. I put mine on 0,0 so that it is just the actual vwap showing.

Yes I understand that, but I meant to ask, that at times it may give a breakout in 1min chart, and it'd be making a fresh green candle crossover the VWAP, but next you know there's a red candle in the 5min chart and its a false signal.. so on which time frame would you suggest would give a better confirmation, or maybe more reliable trend reversal

Closer to the VWAP the better, you never want to chase the stock. So depends on the size of candlestick, if they are 4-4 small candles but still close or at the VWAP then it's okay but if they are too much away from the VWAP then wait for a pullback or for the VWAP to catch up to the price.

I also had the same question so I started looking how to edit it in TOS. I found if you go under edit studies and choose the VWAP you can choose between day, week, and month for the time frame and then towards the bottom you can click the upper band & lower band tabs and uncheck the show plot towards the right. To me this gets you close to what is shown in the video. Hope this helps.

Doesn't matter for us traders how the broker ends up doing, we just trade the setup.

It doesn't matter if every person in the market sells their entire position on the SPY at the same time. The price of the SPY is determined ONLY by the price of the cumulative S&P. SPY price is determined as a function of OTHER stocks, like all ETFs.
