These laws work exactly as intended: to make legal gun ownership and self-defense as difficult as possible and make life as easy as possible for criminals. Those who drafted and enacted these laws don't care about the public safety; they represent criminals

Forreal. And those armed details are funded with Taxpayer dollars. Whereas my wife and I have paid over $3k for guns, ammo, holsters, fingerprints, concealed carry class, application fees, etc. All for a fucking constitutional right. And guess what? We've been waiting over a month for our permit. Idk who needs to hear this, but guns aren't political.

@@romeod7549 using that same logic, legal citizens should be able to purchase and carry any firearm that you want and be able to take it with you where you go, just like a vehicle. But comparing firearms to cars does not solve anything. Just keep in mind, not a single law teaches how valuable & precious life is. That is what I think we lack in society today.

This is all because SB1 wasn't meant to curb crime. It was simply a move to further disenfranchise Maryland citizens of a right to a proper defense of oneself and jump on the gun-control bandwagon rolling through states such as CA, NY, NJ, and MA, without any real effort to hold criminals accountable.

Spot on. I am a legal and MD CCW permit holder and the cost and time is insane. Just imagine if Maryland required to pay a $400 to take a class and $75 to the state and the cost for prints just to get VOTE.

Prints as in fingerprints, right? I'm not committing any crimes over here - and I've submitted my prints already for job-related reasons - but screw that. That's not a reasonable requirement for someone to buy or carry a gun. Hell no.

My advice to everybody is to just ignore any gun laws in whatever state you're in and just carry anyway. The criminals aren't going to pay any attention to them or pay any stupid fees so there's no reason for you to. I'm not joking.

I don't agree with this mentality. It's arrogant, dangerous and can land you in jail/prison or worse. This is an emotional sentiment. Just because these laws are wrong and/or infringe on our 2nd amendment rights doesn't mean they aren't enforceable by law enforcement. The moment we stop obeying the laws; again regardless of their legality etc., is the moment that the argument that these laws hurt "law abiding citizens" goes out the window. It just plays right into the gun grabbing left's hands. That's what they want us to do. Should we resist and fight back against those that try to take our rights; absolutely! But let's make sure we are doing it in the correct way. Not with violence of our own. If you are a responsible gun owner, then you know that you want to de-escalate the situation and not escalate it or make it worse. This means that disobedience to the law shouldn't be an option. To do so makes us no better than the criminals. Instead, being patient and letting the courts settle these issues is what we need to do. That's what they are there for.

Also if you haven't been searched in your life by police ever, if you have no reasonable cause to be searched like cannabis smell in car then you can definitely carry. Just say "I dont consent to searches" when asked and always deny possession of weapons, you cannot be compelled to tell the truth incriminating yourself under the 5th amendment.

Im from Detroit and Most people i know that have a gun, is supose to have it. In the end, gun laws empower criminals and make honest people vulnerable. So when crime gets to a certain level, citizens rights to carry, to protect their communities and lawful immunity should be mandatory. Like a micromanaged vassal state.

Is a firearm training course that is taught in one state less effective than the same course taught in a different state?? 🤔 Does being in a different state affect how guns work, and how bullets travel? 🤦🏻 My hunter safety card allows me to hunt in any state. Why would a gun permit be any different?

​@@MrKevinEaddy What was the last American made firearm that was banned ? To my knowledge the only weapons you can't legally posses in the US are tied into import issues from other countries. If you really look at it why would they ban an assault rifle but allow fully automatics weapons to be possessed with a tax stamp? As for them coming to your house and taking your stuff because you registered there isn't an example to prove they would or wouldn't. All I can say is if you let your registration laps on your vehicle the DMV doesn't come to your house and give you a ticket for it.

Laws are only as strong as the people that follow it. If millions followed 2A, the law would be erased. Criminals know this and just carry. They get arrested for the crime they commit because they know the law abiding citizen doesn't have one.

@@floridagunrat1625 There are already restrictions on the first amendment. Plenty of jurisdictions have permit requirements for gathering to protest. During Covid, they restricted people's right to peaceably assemble in nearly every form, including for the practice of religion. Name me a judge that won't threaten you with a contempt charge for speaking over them. Lots of limitations on our freedoms. Of course, the difference is right there, in writing. The First amendment says "Congress shall make no law," while the second amendment says "shall not be infringed." The first amendment is a limitation on the Federal government's power over the several rights outlined in said amendmet. The second amendment is a blanket restriction on the power of any and all governing bodies, over the right to keep and bear arms. Clear as day.

Similar situation in NJ. I spent closed to $1,000 meanwhile I’m at risk of an encounter with an illegal gun holder. Women are carjacked at gun point and mostly viewed as a soft target.

If people are too dangerous to vote/carry, then they should not be allowed out of prison! Once theyve paid their debt to society, they get their rights back. If we actually punished criminals, this would be less of an issue

Where was the person in the car when they stole the fire arm? Was it at a place where they could not take a firearm in because if so, then that needs to change

Probably a lot of these "stolen " guns are actually bought from people who purchased them legally and then reported the gun stolen. The strawman can make a nice little profit doing that.

I moved to PA from Baltimore years ago. A lot of people here have carry permits. It was very painless to obtain. I went to the local sheriff's dept and after some paperwork and background check I got my permit. I've been fortunate in that I have never had to draw a weapon. Life in most of PA is a lot nicer than any of MD.

MD lawmakers need to focus on passing laws that restrict illegal gun trafficking, use, and possession by criminals. MD can't or won't crack down on juveniles, gang members, and street criminals so they make themselves think they are doing something by infringing on law-abiding, responsible citizens. Both the criminal justice system and educational school system need to be reformed to punish criminals and provide real opportunities so kids do not turn to gangs and crimes.

@@fredo2x625 start by getting HQL training which is 4 hours and costs about 260 dollars after finger prints this training is very simple. This will allow u to purchase handguns in Maryland legally. Then get the Wear and carry training which will cost about 335-360 dollars and requires 16 hours which us split between 2 days you will also have to get fingerprints and everything again

@@fredo2x625 I haven’t taken the wear and carry permit training yet I only have the HQL for now. Due to the 360 dollars I need to save but. There is a shooting part in the west and carry training. The HQL(which allows you to purchase handguns) you just watch the videos respond to questions by the instructor and shoot a little at the end .

It's simple, it has nothing to do with stopping violence. If it did, they'd come down harder on those breaking the laws. Instead, they can't control the criminals so they make more laws to punish good people. That way they can pat themselves on the back and say "look, we did something" Then in 5 years when the last batch of laws passed didn't work, they'll pass more that will again, only restrict good people more. They know they can't do anything about crime.

Where in the constitution does it specify who can have a gun and who may not? I’ve read our Constitution a few times and can’t find the rules, regulations, laws or stipulations concerning that subject. The only concrete information I’ve found says we all have the right to bear arms and that right “Shall not be infringed”.

My biggest issue with Maryland is they don't honor any other states' Concealed Permit, you must be trained by them in Maryland and the permit is only 2 years. I have been firearms trained in Florida with many hours of training, almost 20 years of handgun experience. In Florida the permits last 7 years. I could go visit family in Maryland and go through the headache of the training but would have to go up there almost yearly to get retrained so it didn't lapse.

This is exactly why gun laws don't reduce crime, but can actually increase it by making it harder for law-abiding citizens to get a gun for protection, leaving them defenseless and a victim.

People who have conceal cary permits need to be careful about leaving their guns where they can be stolen. In Illinois any conceal cary permits carrier from Missouri is alowed to cary in Illinois, however must leave the weapon in their car if they exit the vehicle. It's laws like this that are ridiculous as this provides a good opportunity for a criminal to steal it.

That's outrageous. I live in Wisconsin, there is no license required to purchase a gun legally through an FFL dealer. I also got my concealed carry license and the total cost was $100, $60 for the class and $40 for the application fee. Anything more is just a money grab from states

Criminals who use a firearm during a robbery or assault may get a slap on the wrist. Still, a legal gun owner who uses a firearm in self-defense will be put through the wringer and face thousands of dollars in legal fees while the low-life criminal gets a court-appointed lawyer and very little if any jail time.

So many people have so much to learn about the G system. Forcing people to have a drivers license isn't even constitutional. Most state law books expressly prohibit this unless business is being conducted as part of transit. IE... shipping.

One easy thing to do would be to increase penalties for being in possession of a stolen gun. Make it an automatic 10 year sentence and criminals would be less inclined to walk around armed.

Here in Arizona, the cost to carry a firearm, is the cost of the gun. That's it. You walk into the store, pass the ridiculous Brady Check, which takes about 20 min, you pay for the gun, take it out of the store, and carry it any way you want to. No register, no license, no permits, and no fees. THAT'S the way it should be.

I am an NRA Firearms Instructor in Florida and offer all CCW Cert. classes for free including 1 hour per student range time. I believe all Instructors should at the very least offer the CCW class for free.

I’m from a gun friendly state that is non-reciprocal from California. I drove to California and carried for almost three weeks while I was there. I basically thought like a criminal and said “fuck it” guess I’ll worry if I have to use it. It felt good to get back home , and not have to worry about stupid gun laws that only concern law abiding citizens.

The leftists are always complaining about lack of training. Let’s solve that problem and another one at the same time. Let’s bring in the NRA to do what they were founded to do. Teach gun safety. Start in elementary school with the basic rules of gun safety. In junior high start talking about the results of not following those rules,… Gun injuries, death and dismemberment, etc. In high school make EVERY student go through a carry class. It teaches them the laws of deadly response, reinforces gun safety rules. When they graduate high school they’ve completed all of the required training including range time. A high school diploma is now your concealed carry license.

What this article isn't telling you is if you apply for your wear and carry permit the hql is free with the package... if you do decide to go hql then ccw permit it will cost you double the fees for the hql and the same fees or more for the ccw and training. And depending on the instructor if your law enforcement ,military, first responders they tend to give a reasonable discount for these fields of employment.

You think it's expensive in Maryland try New York it's even more expensive. And if you want to do armed security in New York you got to go through 40 hours it's going to cost you a fortune and when do you have the time to complete all this training.....? In New York you have to take a 16-hour course then you have to do two hours at a gun range with an instructor. Then you have to have your social media and your political views put under the microscope we haven't even gotten into Nassau or Suffolk County yet which requires our urine test not go figure that one out. Does it get even better..... how long do you think it takes for a criminal to obtain a firearm all they have to do is steal it or acquire it through the underground. Meanwhile while your character is being challenged to determine your suitability to be conferred a Firearms permit criminals don't have to abide by any laws

Permits are $20 per year in Alabama, fill out paper work then a background check is ran. About a 20-30 minute process. No classes needed.

I'm so thankful to be living in Idaho where you can purchase a firearm without needing a permit, no waiting periods, no carry permits needed for concealed or open carry. BTW, Idaho is ranked number four in overall crime where one is lowest and 50 is highest. The top four of five states ranked the lowest are Constitutional carry states with very little restrictions.
