Toby Kebbel tells the truth about the Counselor. Btw it is a great dialogue between those two. Anyhow, they are both criminals, except that one doesnt want to admit it😅.

So many people don't get it. The subtext outweighs the dialogue. Decisions have consequences. The End.

Somehow throughout this movie one might notice that the counselors clients don't like him very much. Which made me wonder how fairgame he truly was for the hammer when the Cartel came knocking over the theft attempt of the Cocaine shipment.
@Senate3005 жыл бұрын
Yep. Cocaine and a dead body. Unless you're gonna tell me different.
@Senate3004 жыл бұрын
@Mace Jacseon Yep. And put on snuff film for his viewing displeasure to add insult to injury. The Counselor's biggest flaw was that he wasn't as clever as he thought he was.
@Senate3003 жыл бұрын
@R Rated It's often hinted some elements of the Cartel never liked the Counselor. He and Reiner both put up some of their money to go towards the Shipment of Cocaine but not all. After the theft attempt on the shipment and the recovery, it was easy for the Cartel to assume that everyone's a suspect or a loose end. Which is why Reiner got taken out and the Counselor got punished through his wife being killed on snuff film.
@MiroslavWD3 жыл бұрын
R Rated I agree. I think that one reason is that the cartel just wants things to go well and anything that goes awry on the "route" is unacceptable and someone must be punished.

This is a great film and a great scene from the film. The problem is that it's supposed to take place in El Paso, Texas. I can assure you there are no polo clubs in El Paso, Texas. The polo clubs in Texas are not that 'nice'. They don't have nice restaurants and tables like shown. They're more like back your pick-up truck next to the field and watch from the bed of the truck.

This movie was, the first AND last script Cormack McCarthy wrote. As far as I know. But Ridley Scott discribes McCarty a moralist. I think the story is good. And to me is like McCarthy wanted to show some deadly sins. And what they can lead to. In one movie.

E MC - Depends on your experiences... "southern accents" are far from homogeneous as you've stated. If the accents from LA, MS GA, AL, TX or TN don't jump off the page as very different to you... you're ill equipped to be judgemental.

Pretty thick southern accent, like Louisiana Cajun maybe. There is so French influence, which explains the word choices. The accent is actually a pretty clever choice because the Counselor speaks with a very clipped, flat tone which is typical of an urban educated Texan. A “newer” accent in the south, which fits his personality. This man is speaking in what would be seen as an “old fashioned” accent, which places emphasis maybe on the fact that he is more connected or more old school in some way. His language is much more flowery and loose. He uses a lot of slang. It further highlights how the counselor isolates himself from his environment.

@@LloydWaldo I'm from Louisiana. I'm part Cajun. No Cajun sounds like him. It's not even a good "typical" southern accent. I love Kebbel, but his accent is horrible. This is Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins bad. Fassbender didn't do great masking his accent either. My natural accent is much closer to a clipped, flat tone that you'll find in a lot of medium to large southern cities. My mom was an English teacher and proper enunciation and grammar was a big deal in my childhood home.

Of the many dialogues quite incomprehensible of this movie, this is the most useless one. I mean, there are already all the dark predictions of Brad Pitt and Barden, but at least they are part of the plot. This guy come from nowhere and you don't see him anymore, wtf?!?!
