That's a good point, actually. And I could even buy Dex missing Barry and realizing he really loves his little brother no matter what he looked like. I just wish there'd been a few scenes where maybe Dex sees his mom going through photos of the boys or something and maybe he sees a picture of himself and Barry doing something when they were little that meant a lot to him, or else maybe he feels the emptiness of the house without him and realizes he teased him lovingly, but that maybe he'd been too harsh or something. The parents refusing to acknowledge Beary is a bear almost seems like a tasteless spoof of parents that treat the fact that one of their kids is adopted as some huge secret they take to the grave that should never be shared under any circumstances, and even when one kid is pretty obviously an odd man out, looks-wise (olive complexioned brunette in a family of pale blondes, etc.) Like, you see it in medical dramas a lot; the kid is sick with some mystery illness, they want the family history to see if it's something hereditary, and even after the doctors look and see the genetics make no sense, they still firmly state that "he is our son and nobody else's."

It was actually a reward I got from the "Treasure Chest" at school for good behavior. One day, I lost the doll while I was out with my grandma, and I was really having a meltdown over it. (And at that point, I should have known better.) So much so, that I was no longer allowed to bring toys with me in public. Fifteen years later, when watching the movie again, this memory popped up in my head again, and so after three weeks of scouring the internet, I was finally able to find the Trixie doll again on Amazon. Dude, this was 2002. Disney likely thought they were being progressive by having Berry stick with his human family instead of revealing Tennesse and Trixie were his long-lost parents XD

Why do adoptive parents even hide the fact that their child is adopted, anyway? It's dumb enough that it was used here when the adoptive child is not even human, so why is this even a thing? I would think any kid who knows from an early age that they're adopted can handle this fact!
@colleen4ever2 жыл бұрын
And why is being adopted so horrific anyway? They should be happy and thankful that they have a family that chose them to raise and love!

@@colleen4ever If I wanted to see kid's movies that have a orphan esque character know that their adopted and the parents don't hide it, I'm personally sticking with both the Stuart Little and Paddington movies, thank you.

No joke, this movie is so Random and insane, that I actually find it ironically very funny. Similar to how “The Room” is So bad that you can’t help but laugh at it.

Here Disney apparently is trying to do more Muppet-a-like stuff. I mean: The characters are created by the people of Jim Henson, we have Queen Latifah owning a bar/diner like in "Muppets Wizard of Oz" and the plot about getting the band back together in oder to save something is very similar to "The Muppets" which came out about a decade later.

Hmm...Muppets Wizard of Oz...a future MH candidate, methinks?
@042792 жыл бұрын
@@jenniferschillig3768 Could be. However the fact that the movie is not a remake of the 1939-musical and is rather based on the actual book could be a saving grace.

@@jenniferschillig3768 Definitely. That's probably the worst Muppets film ever.
@jenniferschillig37682 жыл бұрын
@@kylejones8289 That was during the period when they didn't know quite what to make of the Muppets. It wasn't enough just to plug the Muppets into an existing story like they did with Muppet Christmas Carol...MWoOz didn't pull off what MCC did in making a really heartfelt retelling with great music.

I remember seeing tv spots for this movie and a commercial for Mcdonald's back then and yet I was skeptical seeing this movie as well "Max Keeble's Big Move" and "Snow Dogs" now that 20 years have passed! plus the boy with the frosted hair is the boy from "the Iron Giant"!

Funny you brought up chicken boo, apparently the director of this is an animaniacs veteran. He's still working in animation today, and is currently directing his second feature film, an adaptation of dav pilkey's dogman. godspeed, sir

They made so many weird choices with this movie that I have to remind myself that this was based on the Country Bear Jamboree attraction. It feels like they made this original film and smacked the Country Bears name on it in hopes that that would make people care about it. At least their second attempt at a movie based on one of their attractions came out a lot better.
