Hahaha Great reaction!! I knew this would make you raise an eyebrow or two. BTW, the female guitarist who you said looked disgusted was his wife.🤣😉👍

Sexual energy was a core of their music. Got to see them live a number of times, great live and severely underrated. And Lux always had an issue with wearing clothes all the way through the show. They essentially cemented the Psycho-Billy genre, making a lot of rock-a-billy covers with a punk twist. One of my favorites and great to see people discovering them.

I discovered The Cramps at 12 years old in the mid 80’s. I had a dubbed cassette tape of their live performance in an insane asylum. This was long before the Internet. No KZbin, no Spotify. I had a ratty cassette tape. Loved them. Thank you for covering this band. They shouldn’t ever be forgotten. Check out the cramps “human fly” and “the crusher” … so good.

Dude, you NEED to see a film by Russ Meyer, John Waters or H.G. Lewis.

Lux Interior is what would have happened if Elvis had decided to be come a Voodoo Sex Priest. Their performance is supposed to make you feel like you are in danger, but if you listen to interviews with him and his wife they are absolute sweethearts and are big nerds for old 50s rock and roll.

This is what happens when you cross the genes of a werewolf with the genes of Elvis Presley. I saw them live many times, and I never considered them “sus” They were fun and beautiful and gracious people. God rest the singer soul.

Real rock n roll is all about glistening sex and violence, and The Cramps nailed it.

This song was originally done by Johnny Burnette in 1956. It's a little more subdued than The Cramps' version.

NOTHING like GG Allin. GG Allin was true garbage. The Cramps defined Psychobilly and started an ENTIRE movement of Psychobilly and Rockabilly revival.

They were GREAT. You have to understand Punk music. Glad he likes it. I have seen crazier shit with mainstream, but then it;s acceptable because the performers are FEMALE and appeal to straight cisgender MEN. Lux Interiors schtick was to go down on the mike. And Poison Ivy was To look disaffected, and snotty. It’s PUNK. Check out Sex Pistols, or even Iggy Pop, the so called Godfather or Punk. The Cramps were the apex of punk

And to think, he's not even the weirdest performer on Urgh! A Music War. I mean, it's up there as one of the most entertaining, but not the weirdest (Klaus Nomi, for my money is the weirdest). Yes, tons of sexual energy, and it's all on purpose, and there's nothing wrong with laughing at it. My brother and I first saw this movie in the early 80s and, now in our late 50s, early 60s, we'll still throw it on for some good tunes and some good laughs.
