@@matthewdaley746the Bucs weren’t relocated because the owners and the NFL are more farsighted than fans. Miami wasn’t drawing support from Fort Myers residents up to Tallahassee, and they didn’t consolidate support in the middle of the state in place like Orlando. Keeping the Bucs in Tampa was an investment in the inevitable second generation of those Northern transplants who began moving to the area en masse in the 70s and 80s. I gotta give props to the people from Buffalo. Almost 40 years ago, you all were crying because sports commentators made fun of your perennially horrendous winter weather. But now? Y’all jump through tables at games AND the Bills are getting a new stadium that is still going to be an open outdoor venue. ON PURPOSE. Glad you all found your balls since this incident. Seriously - it’s okay to crack jokes about the weather in a particular place. Doesn’t mean you’re belittling the people who live there or suggesting no one should ever visit. I think Arizona in summer is hotter than Satan’s butthole and I would avoid the place in July as much as possible. But I’d consider a trip there in December, sure. Also, our esteemed host, JG9, lives in AZ and he’s a cool guy. And I hope he doesn’t take offense at my characterizing his state thusly.

It would be great if I could give context to your giving context. I don't like doing this, because your videos are usually pretty good, but this one is not destined for the Hall of Fame. And I know you don't know me, and things don't come through good in text, but this is all in jest, and I really do like your work. Sure the people of Buffalo were outraged, but what if that AFC championship game was hosted in Buffalo. This is from the national weather service for the date January 8th 1989 in Buffalo New York. Before I copy and paste that we need some context so we understand what's going on. Buffalo is freaking cold, and apparently it's populated by people who are so insecure, they don't like it when you point out an obvious fact. Now, on with my feature presentation. The following is from the national weather service, again, dated January 8th 1989, the date of the AFC championship game that year. Now compare this to the horrendous comments given by The Three stooges commentating team. It sounds like one is just reading the others copy. "An intense low pressure system moved northeast from the central Great Lakes and brought strong winds to all of western New York. The wind averaged 31.5 mph for the day--the windiest January day in 40 years. A peak gust of 61 mph was recorded at 1:56pm at the Buffalo Airport. The winds downed trees and tree limbs and overhead wires and interrupted electrical and telephone service. The high winds broke windows on the Prospect Point observation tower overlooking Niagara Falls, closing the tower. The winds also blew over a billboard on Fuhrman Boulevard briefly closing a portion of the Skyway." But again, this is a one-off, because I really do enjoy your videos and I promise someday to put up a long comment on something I like. I'm just curious as to how many houses you live in, because I don't see how you can store all those football helmets. Keep up the great work, and I'm glad you got a sponsor!

How about some additional context... Buffalo & Western New York had been a leading city in steel, automotive and aviation. But by the late 1980s many of those industries were greatly downsized or non-existent at all. So there was a sour mood in the region as a whole. On top of that one of the more recent national headlines from the previous decade (but still had an impact on the area) was the Love Canal disaster in Niagara Falls. Industry was leaving the region and industrial waste was making some areas unlivable. Combine all of that with a drastic loss in population from its peak and there was not much to be positive about. The Bills of the mid-1980s to mid-1990s lifted the mood of the entire region that those of you who have never lived in WNY could never begin to understand and helps explain, in part, as to why Bills Mafia is as fanatic as we are. But back to my comment. So with the Bills playing their best football since joining the NFL in 1970, for the broadcast crew to instead focus their attention on how terrible Buffalo & WNY weather is becomes a big deal, whether you agree with it or you don't. Today, WNYers would roll their eyes at those remarks. Why? Because right now Buffalo has more going for it than it did 36 years ago. The downtown has largely been revitalized, industry is beginning to make its way back into the area, the population is going back up even if New York state's population overall is in decline and there's a sense of optimism that just hasn't existed for a long time.

Dude, I love your channel and go to it very frequently, but this particular video is way below your standard. Dare I go so far as to call this video garbage! The announcers weren’t trashing Buffalo but stating facts! No team from the South wants to play in the frigid temperatures of Buffalo in the late season. Nor do they want to play an important late season game in Green Bay, Chicago, Pittsburgh, etc. Similarly, no one wants to play in South Florida in the early season. I honestly heard nothing wrong with anything that was said in the booth - just telling it like it is.

The majority of his videos now are straight up awful. Years ago this channel was solid but as time has passed it has clearly gone downhill as he probably is running out of material to actually use that matters and just wants to pump out video after video for ad dollars and clicks.

Nobody liked Dan Dierdorf...nobody. Just imagine a less nasally Chris Collinsworth, and you have Dierdorf. That said... the city of Buffalo came across as whiny here.

To each their own, I couldn't stand Frank Gifford, or, his wife, eventually, his act grew stale, and, the ignominious end, that everybody saw coming when he stayed long past his, sell-by, date, occurred, (I expand greater on the infamy in a lower post).

It's like a fat girl getting joked about for three hours straight. She hears it all the time, it gets tired after the first joke, and there's more to her than her weight. Excuse my city if we don't find the bullshit funny

@jeremydobbs5578 Buffalo's biggest problem is that, unlike, Edmonton, and/or, Minneapolis, the terrible weather isn't mitigated by, the huge malls of both, and, the legendary, Dynasty, of the former, its only tourist attraction is surrounded by a collection of tacky tourist traps on both sides of the border, unsurprisingly, it gets next to zero repeat business from visitors living more than two hours away by car.

I watched this game, and despite having to endure that previously mentioned Broncos/Colts game earlier that season, anytime spent listening to this Monday Night announcing booth was a fun experience. As a 13 year old Broncos fan living in south Mississippi (where the Saints fandom is plain crazy, even then), I recall hearing these comments and having a nice chuckle. The Bills' win in this game was not a huge surprise as they had shown in three previous games that they had the Dolphin's number, including a humiliating shutout in Buffalo the season before. Dan Marino had a bunch of games this season with huge passing yards while also tying a career high for interceptions, so this outcome wasn't shocking. But when a short article about the Buffalo complaints showed up in the sports page the following Sunday, I remember honestly laughing out loud. These Bills did themselves no favors after beating the Jets in overtime the following week to clinch the East. The Bengals embarrassed them the week after that, then Buffalo put up a mere 5 points to lose an ugly game in Tampa Bay (led by Vinny Testaverde, no less, in the midst of a 35-interception season) and another ugly loss in Indianapolis in the season finale with the #1 seed still theirs for the taking. Buffalo would get their home playoff game, a close win over Houston that is no doubt the most famous Oilers/Bills playoff game in history....oh wait... The weather at kickoff for that game was 31 degrees with light wind and sunny, irony of ironies. And according to ex-Bill Paul Maguire during his pre-game rundown to start his commentary in the booth for NBC, the Bills were actually UPSET that the weather wasn't going to be terrible; because in their minds, the worse the conditions were, the better it would be for them. A week later, they would lose to the Bengals in the conference championship under colder and gloomier weather conditions. And the ever colorful coach Wyche got into a Gatorade bath war with a player (Pro Bowl safety David Fulcher, if I remember correctly) who tried to dunk him at the end. Another laugh out loud moment for me that I remember well, even in my disappointment with the Broncos 8-8 finish a few weeks earlier. Many fond memories of watching football in those years, which included laughing at the Buffalo fans who apparently couldn't handle some good-natured ribbing about their winter weather conditions by the guys in the Monday Night booth.
