Here's my take on one of the most basic, yet puzzling, Elden Ring lore questions. Even Corhyn asks this question. #eldenring #lore

Awesome video but there was one thing i wanted to point out. Radagon gifted Rennala the Amber Egg, not the Great Rune. After the Elden Ring was Shattered, the Amber Egg was the thing that received the Great Rune of the Unborn which is why it is the first thing mentioned in the Great Rune description. I think it is essentially an Erdtree Womb with an unborn demigod in it that was ripped from the Erdtree. It is basically Erdtree sap afterall.

I saw people mentioning a supposed interview that Miyazaki talks about how Radagon is Marika, I didn't find that interview so I can't guarantee that it's true but what he says is basically how Radagon is this other aspect of Marika and how this is important to understanding the nature of the empyreans (again, I didn't find the original interview so I don't remember what the exact words were) this is a huge chunk of lore being thrown in our faces, Miyazaki is putting the fact that Radagon is Marika as a centerpiece for understanding Empyreans, what could that mean? I believe this could mean that each Empyrean has a counterpart or alter ego, this seems like a recurring theme regarding the Empyreans we've seen so far, obviously we have Radagon being Marika but we also have Miquella and St. trina, we always kind of we thought that St. trina would be a pseudonym or disguise of Miquella but I now believe that St. trina could be a completely independent or semi-independent part of Miquella, apparently we see a masked figure in the DLC trailer that is most likely St. trina and so she doesn't resemble Miquella's physical form and this to me throws out the possibility that St. trina is simply a pseudonym or disguise for Miquella, we also have Malenia and Milicent, Milicent is constantly singled out from the other sisters as being much more special and there are theories that Milicent could be Malenia's pride that she threw away during her fight with Radahn, so I kind of think it's possible that she could be more than just Malenia's daughter and actually be another aspect of Malenia

There is also the Witch Renna, and the Lunar Princess Ranni

I believe that Rennala's great rune may have been ripped from the elden ring with the rune of death, Marika replaced every type of death that existed before with the process of rebirth through the erdthree and I believe the same could have happened with any process of rebirth that may have existed before, death and rebirth did not cease to exist but were replaced by the new cycle of life imposed by Marika

Mimic tear technology is in the game. What was the purpose of mimic Tears originally? To create an artficial lord? Who was inventing them? The people of the eternal cities who have connections to Marika. What happens when you make a mimic of yourself? You give up a part of yourself. Oh, they also used the rune of the Unborn to change the mimics apearance/respec. 😉 All the clues are right there.

I think Radagon came first, but Marika became eternal and retroactively unstuck in time upon the shattering.

Men transitioning into female goddesses is a recurring theme in Miyazaki's works

I believe the Amber Egg was Radagon's Magnum Opus, the magic of it allowed him to see he was destined to become Marika

A bit unrelated but I think Ranni was born from the amber egg. “Born from a single god” is a descriptor of an Empyrean, after all. In my eyes, Marika and Radagon had to have been one person during Radagon’s stay in Liurnia. Also, on Radagon’s view towards Rennala, I am reminded of the description of the Soreseal. It seems that the Divine Duo (Uno?) felt that their duty had cost them both, likely in different ways. Radagon’s lament may have had to do with Rennala and his reforging of her gift was a bittersweet attempt at moving forward while not totally forsaking her.
