Wow, there's a lot that has gone into this movie not only from the beginning pre production, but leading up to it making it truly the piece that it is and the fact that they picked a lot of the AI's afterward shooting that makes this whole concept unique. Look forward to hearing more with part 2.

I can't wait to talk about the storyline, plot twists, social commentary and everything else that make the movie great. BTW, there should be showings in the evening tomorrow night if you are biting at the bit to see it.

Looking forward to part 2 of the review. I actually had not seen any trailers for this movie, but now I want to go see this in the theaters. Most people when talking about AI talk about the Terminator. It will be interesting to see a different writer/directors rendition on what may be awaiting us.

Interesting point, Gareth said it was influences heavily by Blade Runner, Star Wars , and Apocalypse Now, which you can definitely see, but I see what you mean with regard to District 9. There is one robot with moving mouth parts, which probably don’t serve a functional purpose, but do add a level of being able to do some facial expression, which most of the other robots lack.

I was looking for some reviews of this very movie to decide whether to see it now or wait for video. Great review, good hosts. I liked their insights and discussions, as well as a bit of insider info about the making of the movie. Also loved the references to “Monsters”, a long time personal favorite. The insights that tied Monsters to Creator-“guerilla-style” cinematography, have really piqued my interest. This podcast has given me a great new way to see Creator now. 15:51 Definitely subscribing to this podcast duo, and already bought tickets for the movie for Saturday night.

I really enjoyed it. I think The Creator will be a classic because it’s something you want to go back and watch again and again. I didn’t really focus on the visuals and acting, or even the writing, but they are all excellent in my opinion. It is the most interesting movie I’ve seen in a long time.

Looks like an interesting movie. Special effects look great and with AI so rapidly advancing the movie fits right in.

The timing is great. We had some level of AI working it’s way into many of our day to day life activities, especially if you have a newer car, or work with imaging software, (I’m still waiting for more intelligent traffic signals). But it is kind of at that tipping point where some of the functionality is good enough to start to more than augment our activities, but actually take some of them over, and that is both exciting, and scary at the same time. But it takes the idea from a far off future concern to an immediate one.

I would love a 5 hour version of this film. Hopefully they change the storyline and focus on AI. That same old tired storyline is what made the film not be at its best. And the acting was not good. I just wanted the story to match the visuals.

Too much was cut. The third act was very disjointed. But the movie was impressive.

I would have liked it to have been longer. I really hope they recut it for a director’s cut, I think that would have helped with some of the flow. But I think they did a good job of turning the aggressive cutting into a kind of style. But still, I want to see some of the story that was cut too.
