Being a shepherd must be one of the most challenging jobs anyone can take on. Antonis, together with his brother Mihalis, took us along to feed their herd and give us a taste of their profession.
Following our visit, Eleni, Antonis's sister, warmly welcomed us at her cousin's place-a charming traditional restaurant named Raki-Meze in the village of Sikia. There, she taught us how to make from scratch and cook Cretan fresh pasta called Sioufihta, serving them with their homemade cheese made from the milk of their own goats.
