As I said in my comment, except that it was revealed in the Shadow of Mordor games (probably in the books as well because I haven't read them) that Sauron was an elf. But I'm not surprised they changed it. 😂

Once he said to Celebrimbor that "its a gift" That showed Halbrand as Sauron. In the lore, Sauron takes another form in Annatar, lord of gifts.

One of the key things that gave Halbrand's true identity away for me at least was that he wanted to settle in Númenor as a blacksmith. Sauron called himself Annatar (The Lord of Gifts) and Antaro (Master Smith) at that time and he used three of the nine rings to corrupt powerful men of the empire. The showrunners spat on the lore and the timeline anyway, so these were enough to connect the dots.

Haven't rewatched any of the episodes but if I remember correctly Halbrand mentions something about dominion or domination when they were in Numenor. That sealed the door on that mystery for me.

The Clue that he was Sauron was his interest in Blacksmithing The moment he set foot on Numenor, he went straight to the blacksmiths. He did the same thing when he went to the Elven kingdom. He was so enthusiastic about forging. Also his Knowledge of Metals and Alloys he displayed to Celebrimbor which surprised the Elf. Then after the southlands was liberated by the Numenorian forces, there was a Scene where Addar asked him "Who are you" in a somewhat suspicious manner. Sauron was originally a Maiar of Aule, the Valar responsible for Earth, rocks and minerals and metals. Aule was the Blacksmith of the Valar and from him, Sauron his Maiar learned how Forge.

Why everybody still thinking that the hobo guy is Gandalf? It became kinda obvious that he is one of the blue wizards when he said he has to go to Rhun, which is to the east. So he is either Alatar or Pallando. Altho i have to admit.. as much as this show makes no sense, he might as well be Gandalf.. which would be just another useless lore break.
