My mom still talks about my reaction to this day. She said she had to turn off the funeral and pry me away from the television because I was inconsolable. I will always be disgusted by the fact that the press and public pressured the Queen and those boys out of balmoral after Dianas death. She was absolutely correct in staying out of the public eye and concentrated on being with her grandchildren. That's what any grandmother would have done and we all know that. She should have just issued a statement of her intentions and everyone should have accepted it. Having those boys walk behind Dianas casket in front of the world was so wrong. It's infuriating that this thing said the RF didn't mourn. Yes, they stayed in Scotland, but they weren't partying. They were trying to help the boys. Should they have sent out some kind of statement requesting privacy for the boys? Yes. Should they have had to trot out the boys in public? Absolutely not.
@MTknitter22
@MTknitter22 Жыл бұрын
Elizabeth, the Queen’s actions herself gave rise to that criticism. Blair confirmed the Queen objected to Charles going to Paris immediately to see to Diana. Thankfully, Charles overruled his cold parents and went anyway. Blair confirmed the RF was stunned at the outpouring of grief, shows you right there how out of touch they were. Queen had to be nagged for DAYS just to get out there and express mourning with the people. As far as getting all this praise for keeping boys at Balmoral, they did what ANY GRANDPARENTS would have done!!!

They hated Diana. She was outspoken and always caused consternation for the Firm. She was also dating a Muslim, an Arab and was going to marry him ( perhaps). She'd complained about the awful treatment Charles gave her, she told all ( don't blame her) in his cheating ways and that woman the homewrecker. Of course they didn't mourn. YOu mourn someone you want to see again. The Queen was a grumpy stone-faced person who never did a thing to rock any boat ever. She followed the leader, ie her advisors. I'll say it, she didn't want to disrupt her life at all, and would never have addressed the "people she meant to serve" if her advisors had not told her to. They weren't partying? They never partied, so that's moot.

This is fascinating to me. I mean no rudeness here at all 😊 but as an American, it's so hard to imagine admiring a stranger this much, especially one whose establishment seems to be so outdated(meaning royals in general) I assumed much of your country saw a monarchy as outdated as well, in today's times, seeing the worship of these wealthy people, people whose jewelry collection alone could help so many of the suffering people in the country, which seems at odds with what they do. It seems much of royal duty these days is to head charities....but they own a large fortune of jewels that are never used, rarely seen and in some instances, jewels that were stolen from the nations they colonized. Again, I am not meaning to disrespect your love for this person and like every death, it is very sad that she has passed away, it's just hard to understand the point of royals today, so much celebrating of people who just happen to be born into a certain family. I'm sure they do a lot of good when it comes to lifting the spirits of your country, when they do speeches and social work though.
@zoezen
@zoezen Жыл бұрын
@@Juwlz I think it's about honouring history and understanding lineage. I live in Canada and didn't grow up a royalist. However I became one when Prince Charles married then lady Diana. You must understand the royal family has no power to make government descisions about where or how money is spent...i.e. on the poor. I believe if the royal family did not own the jewelry, it would be confiscated by the government for 'safekeeping'. And if sold by the government, the proceeds would unfortunately most likely not go to help the poor. So, in keeping these traditions alive within a family, helps England, a far older nation than Canada or the USA, to keep their history alive. Remember that British common law is the underlying foundation for legislation in the majority of developed nations, including Canada and the USA. The USA of course attained complete independance from Britain. Yet, it's initial foundation, following after the first nation aboriginal people, was England.

None of them were wearing seatbelts and the paps taken away in the big white van should have been charged with dangerous driving and contributing to the accident and their deaths . The pictures taken by the vehicles that swerved in front of them were published showing the back of her head looking out the window to those following . Hard docu-series to watch, especially the bits about Diana. You see I grew up admiring every move she made. I am not happy, on the sad side for what King Charles did to his wife but on the other hand I can only understand the struggles that "Life of Sorts" must have on had on such a person such as Charles. A sensitive, philosophical person, whom only wants to educate us about the Planet and it's success. Terrible tragedies yes but thus, his wisdom will hopefully ever be lasting to help educate everyone. People should have given the Royal Family a break especially those boys. They had just lost their mother. They should’ve been allowed to grieve in private. They were boys. Queen Victoria was sex mad but hated children. Albert took more notice of them than she ever did. When he died young, aged 42, dratted woman must have worn him out with her constant demands. Poor man was run ragged looking after all his children and working as well? She was very selfish and cared only of her needs. And by all accounts treated him like a servant. Sounds like an older version of Markle. Claims to have kids but never looks after them and treats her husband like crap. Harry is the Prince, a Royal, Meeeegain is just a common harridan who thinks she is Royalty and Harry is the commoner. She should be walking behind him and only speak when spoken too. He's as much to blame for allowing it to happen. Never should have married IT?
