Incorrect, the Third Crusade was not a failure, it succeeded in many ways. Richard defeated Saladin in all military engagements and conquered large amounts of territory from him.

The Muslims still controlled Jerusalem when it was all said and done, the objective was to capture Jerusalem from the Muslims; therefore, it was a failure. Calling the 3rd Crusade a success because they didn't lose battles (which isn't factually correct) is like arguing that the US won the Vietnam war because we didn't lose any battles. Winning battles are a means to and end, the ends of the Crusades were to restore control of Jerusalem, and they failed to do that. You are missing the forest for the trees.

FYI: The four real bronze horses in Venice from Constantinople are now inside the church, in its museum. They are magnificent and well worth a visit. The horses outside are just mock-ups.

How insightful can Dr. Rubestein's observation be, since he has ignored Pope Urban's 1095 speaking tour to rally the sentiment of the fighting men of France? Dr. Brendan McGuire (rip) points out, like Dr. Rubenstein and the presenter in this lecture, that the detailed idea of an indulgence as such came later. An indulgence, perhaps, but Pope Urban most definitely did grant the remission of sins to those who took the criss - both in his speech and as spread among the earliest men to stand up (in their popular perceptions).

So if someone researches a topic, understands it well, and is able to clearly and concisely articulate that information, then that means they must've voted for Trump?
