Cuban cigars since Brexit and Asia buying up loads of stock has made it a rich man's hobby. If you're not a rich man or haven't stocked up on Cubans than your opportunity of enjoying a cuban cigar will be a very limited compared to what it once was. Enjoyed being able to pick up a reyes for £5-7 18-24 months ago. Now retails at £32.99 UK. Not worth it and sadly it won't be long before the rest of Europe and even cuba have prices mire in line with UK retail. NWs are now looking more appealing to cuban cigar smokers

Cigars and a Cigar are a wonderful experience. Cubans,,New world ext ext. Don’t matter as long as you’re enjoying what you are smoking it really doesn’t matter. Great interview lots of great information.

Plascencia ,Perdomo and Padron for the money at one third the price of Cubans , simply the best in the world .Nicaragua makes world class cigars.

Hahahaaaa, how ignorant can someone be, do you realize that in Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, Honduras and many other countries have grown their best tobacco with Cuban seed tobacco, for example, the Dominicans think that they had the best tobacco, hahahaaa, until the Cubans began to grow their tobacco in the Dominican Republic. I can go on and on to educate any ignorant fool who thinks that so such other country can beat the Cubans. Please don't go by magazines who push cigar companies to better themselves.

Order them online from somewhere that has good prices, have them shipped to a hotel that you will be visiting in Europe, and bring them back. Your limit is 50 each time. Canadian cigar smokers have been doing it this way for decades. A friend in NY is receiving a package for me just today. My wife will be bringing them back in two weeks.

I love Cubans and in Spain we get them retail without mark-ups but prices have gone up massively. I would say the worsening life conditions for all Cuban people and now almost certain siphoning of Funds from Habanos S.A to the top brass in Cuba will factor highly in my choices. At least you know the NW growers and manufacturers are clean...

Great interview! I was shocked today seeing some cuban prices at duty free, nobles for 1200 Euros!!! and was doing research about the prices, its such a shame, would the cuban cigar prices in UK be going up or would it just be the regions which were cheaper will be same as uk?

Cubans are still the best cigars with long term age. There is no evolution to New World Cigars over time.

I agree, but I appreciate that I can buy a NW cigar and it will be at its peak (or near it) when I buy it. They’re also more widely available and more consistent which is a big plus.

The only reason why they have what you call an "evolution" is because you're getting poorly aged tobacco with minimal fermentation. New worlds, for example, like Davidoff use aged tobacco and age the cigars before shipping them. It's a joke that a bullshit, poorly rolled and non-aged cuban costs more than top tier Davidoff. It's a joke. I've given up on Cubans and enjoy Davidoff.

That’s because NW cigars are ready to smoke out of the box. The third fermentation cohiba talks about, that’s in your humidor for 5 years.

The second half of this interview went Woke and Scott turned out to be a big bullshitter. The term New World Cigars is ridiculous, all cigars are New World, Cuban cigars are New World the tobacco plant is a New World plant like tomatoes, potatoes and Corn. The proper term would be American market cigars ( Nicaraguan Dominican etc,etc.)which will always be a simulacrum of Cuban cigars. Alot of whats been going on in the cigar world is purely political and doesn't bode well for the cigar smoker himself. Kennedy should have never put sanctions on Cuba and the Revolution in Cuba was largely a major mistake for the Cuban people. These causes of many years ago have had terrible consequences ever since for the cigar enthusiasts, not so much for the wealthy consumer but the regular man who enjoys cigars. I could go on and on but I hate typing.
