I remember seeing this interview of one of Jim Jones' son who was informed about the mass suicide and was instructed into following them to the end. He just hung up and continued playing basketball with his friends.

People should question everything and exercise critical thinking……..a very valuable lesson my father taught me. So many people these days accept everything they hear and follow like sheep. I’ve seen this particularly in the past three years.

agreed. i am very thankful for the education i had, especially logic ethics and statistics. i was always a somewhat critical thinker, but certain studies have enabled me, not necessarily to know the truth, but to at least identify the bullshit. it's a bit bittersweet tho because not everyone has had these opportunities. it's not about people being dumb, i don't think we are in general. i think the system of education particularly in the us has failed. i think the above fields should be taught intensely from a very young age continuing until grade 12.

Any religion is dangerous.
@sonquatsch8585
@sonquatsch8585 11 ай бұрын
if this is true you must account for believers or better followers of religions who successfully live their lives in peace not harming others and doing good for others in the name of religion. this number across time is immeasurable even if compared to violence committed in the name of religion or god. moreover saying religion is dangerous is like saying guns are dangerous. yes, perhaps, but it is ultimately the man who commits violence, particularly if one purports relgion to be man-made. i forget who is quoted as saying this, but it has been said that we could all look alike believe in the same thing, have the same skin color, and we would still find an excuse to butcher one another. something along those lines.
