If he owns those properties on fixed rate mortgages, there's literally no reason to ever raise the tenants rents other than maybe small 1-2% annual raises to keep up with property taxes and/or increased maintenance costs as the property ages. Dave's teachings and approach to life certainly can be cult like. I went through his financial freedom course and was dogmatic in staying debt free and trying to get through college without any loans but I kept postponing jumping into being full time in school all because I had this idealism that I'm a bad person or it's an evil to take on student loans. After many years of being miserable I had to reexamine my beliefs and changed my mindset to view financing my education as an investment in myself and that investing in myself is the best investment I can make. I just had to make sure I'm going into a career where it makes sense to borrow the amount of money I will need. Once i figured it out I jumped right in and the water is fine!

Here’s one that my boss used to say and still says: “I don’t give you a raise, you give yourself a raise”, implying that the only reason you don’t get a raise is because you’re not working hard enough. Or another good one, “ I don’t fire you, you fire yourself”. This from the guy who exploited the fuck out of his truck driver and made him do a lot of work that was way outside of his driving duties, while treating him like crap and ordering him around as if that’s warranted simply because he pays the guy (way under market value for a CLD driver). Eventually his driver left because he was getting paid a garbage salary with ZERO benefits and was being worked like a dog. Now this is a multi million dollar company mind you, at least $5-6 million a year in revenue. When his driver has had enough and was leaving all of a sudden this guy was ready to increase his salary by $400 a week to $1,500/week in total. Most of his employees left his company, and he acts as if all those people are the problem and became greedy. When the pandemic started in March of 2020 this guy let me go saying that we have no work. I had to go on unemployment for a little bit until finding seasonal tax work, and I was making slightly more in unemployment than I was working for this asshole. Later I heard that he apparently said I was greedy for going on unemployment when enhanced unemployment benefits were being given, despite him laying me off himself. He still believes that I left on my own just to collect unemployment. This guy is so manipulative and constantly talks about how because he gives a few holidays off we should be ready to dedicate our time to his company whenever it’s needed. He brags about not bothering us on the weekends, as if he deserves praise for that. It’s just important to be able to recognize manipulative language that scumbag bosses try to use on you in order to make you believe that you’re very lucky to have a job, and that you’re being paid way above your worth. I was blind to this before, but slowly I’m starting to open my eyes to this disgusting treatment of workers in America. As soon as I find another job I’m out of here, because this guy will never change and will continue on believing that he’s a really good employer and that everyone else is the problem.

People new to the work world see the buzzwords and agree, hooking them in. What they don't see is the high turnover and the lack of values the place is hiding. I'm not saying I wouldn't prefer a different system, but we're in a sort of Nash equilibrium and a situation where people's necessary values cause what you think are unnecessary as a byproduct. Complaining also doesn't usually do much, and there is a counterintuitive phenomenon where the people who complain more, who are more neurotic, conformist, etc, are causing workplace toxicity both directly and through incentive structures. While people who remain happy while suffering complain less, but having more of them would make a better system. Companies write what people want to hear, though it can usually be said that people's values are informed by the elite rather than from the bottom up. Even if information were enough to get people to see the light that companies are basically corrupt, not doing what they say they are, changing people's minds would be driven by elite actors not the average worker. It's also not clear what basis most people, who are atheist materialists, would have to criticize his services. It is clearly satisfying people's values, otherwise they would not be buying the service. It's similar to education: even if it doesn't do any of the things it is supposed to, people clearly value having it more than not. On the righteous living bit, having pre-defined rules can be helpful, but ultimately all law is arbitrary. No matter how broad and explicit the guideline, interpretation is what matters

One great example of how being selfish makes you more valuable is making sure you are the ONLY one trained to do a specific task. @@dogelife7901 I'm not sure what the point of your comment is. The context of this video is a list of "red flags" from companies. I am arguing against "share of the profits" being a red flag. I am arguing it is a good thing to look for in a company, provided that you do your due diligence to see if they stay true to their advertised value. As far as "not all companies" giving bonuses, its irrelevant because we are not talking about universal truths, but rather values that individual companies may or may not have. As far as higher ups needing to justify their salaries, they really dont. They make more because they have ownership or are leadership. Just like everyone else, CEOs get their salaries based on their competitive advantage. The more replaceable you are, the less you will make and that applies to for-hire CEOs and everyone below them. The world is not fair and nepotism is rampant, but its also ridiculous to say that the majority can be leaders. Most people dont care or dont want that responsibility and that creates scarcity, which drives up value. If most people wanted to be entrepreneurial, it would be much easier for people to unite to create employee run businesses where the highest paid person doesnt make more than 5x the lowest.

@@alinatamashevich3354 you are obviously a positive sounding board for Dave. Lots of people agree with me. Is he paying you? As far as I am concerned I am very financially successful and without Dave’s advice or any financial advisor. Wow how could that be? I guess I am doing better than I deserve… Dave makes his money giving advice not actually doing it. If he was so great he wouldn’t give advice. It’s snake oil. Warren buffet doesn’t have an advice show as he is a real investor not a sales man of hopes and dream for the desperate. Of course this is just my opinion…

@@michaelzero5144 So glad you made it without listening to Dave. Again, Dave gives sound financial advice, known as " best practices" in the industry. Dave does exactly what he tells others to do, however all haters and trolls use that tired line. Do you seriously believe that a man with multi-millions invested does not have access to the best financial advisors money can buy? Then you are the fool, not me. BTW< what is the name of your best selling financial book? Thought so.

What's the point of hiring you if you're not helping with the mission of the company which is serving customers and creating value for the customers? People acting like this is bad is pretty silly. You can create your own company Then pay people more than they bring in to the company. If you go under... You had a bad idea.

08:15 yup that’s pretty much the M.O. for most businesses nowadays. They speak to everyone like they’re 6 years old.
