Let's say he only got 6 mil. They would have spent the three mil already on different players. They still wouldn't necessarily have played Broberg more, which is a big reason he was disgruntled. If they - Holland- was very disciplined maybe they would be able to pay Bro and Holl 1.6 each for a couple years, but would Bro have been happy with that? And would he have signed quickly enough so no offer sheet was signed?? And BELIEVE ME I'm not saying Nurse isn't overpaid. It is just likely they would still be very stretched with a few different players, or lengths of contracts. Maybe Holloway would have taken 1.6 or something, but I'm guessing not Broberg, unless he was playing full time, especially on his left side. Funny Nurse, the high paid veteran, gets to play on his preferred side, but the rookie had to switch.

You guys are overlooking that the “ask” for the potential Buchnevich deadline deal was both Broberg and Holloway and Holland rightly said no. The targeting of those players was known to the oilers management prior to the offseason so the blame goes completely to Holland (75%) and Jackson (25%). The coaches can be blamed for not believing in players and making bad on ice decisions but they can’t be blamed for managing the off ice player negotiation status as those are 2 separate things and this offer sheet scenario is an off ice issue. In the past when managers and coaches didn’t see eye to eye either a player would get traded that stood in the way or a player get traded that wasn’t good enough to usurp whoever was in front but either way management was/is in control.

And he is an injured player who was injured during his jobthe employer needs to accommodate, but in this case, they also need space every thought of how they may use the duty to accommodate rule and interpretation of section 15 of the charter rights, freedom responsibilities, and also workplace rights in the workplace legislation

The point (for all the bedwetters that complain that we want accountability from the leadership/management) is that this next season was all about squeezing the most out of the cap. Broberg and Halloway were to be key parts of the roster BECAUSE we could get great value from them. All the rest, the time spent developing them etc etc is a major secondary point. We needed cheap youth that have been apart of the team to step up and maximize their value period full stop.
