I just found this podcast yesterday and am listening to this episode now. As a victim of spiritual abuse from a Pentecostal apostolic church, I am so grateful for this episode. I'm at a very lost place right now, and this was very encouraging to help me feel less alone.

I left the UPC 10 years ago, I had wanted to leave long before that. I started to question my pastor openly, and he didn't like me. He definitely had major influence over our everyday lives, and I left after he stated that I couldn't my then boyfriend because he wasn't a part of the church and had 3 kids. I was p*ssed. We had a kid, and she was diagnosed with cancer at age 2 (she'sfine now), and the pastor had the nerve to come into my kid's hospital room uninvited and started preaching at me that my daughter was sick because I wasn't doing what I was supposed to be doing by going to his church and living my life the way he wanted me to. I wasn't, haven't it. I will not be controlled like that ever again.

For people leaving the UPCI there are several facebook groups and other yotube channels Responsible Faith, Divide the Word, and We Left Legalism are some of my favorites. :)

You do realize that the Pentecostal church is the church under attack for a reason don't ya? Because it's the truth and satan can't stand it so he tries to debunk it. This is the only church that's under attack on KZbin. Think about it. God Bless 🙏

If you have found this video and you are debating on leaving God.. take a minute to read your word. Take a minute to talk and ask God for guidance. Truly with your heart ask Him, and He will answer. The Lord will never leave you nor forsake you. The church can be cruel, people can be cruel, but God is loving. I’m sorry for your pain. But He loves you. Don’t forget what He has done for you. Don’t forget your first Love. God is not the author of confusion. Just talk to Him.

The Pentecostal churches I attended in Ohio in the 80's were quite a bit worse, though i guess you'd expect that during the Satanic Panic. I wish these two speedy healing.

Pentecost is fifty days after Easter (the celebration of Jesus' resurrection). Forty days after the resurrection, He ascended into heaven. Then the disciples spent nine days praying in the upper room in Jerusalem where the Last Supper was held. The last day, a sound of wind rushing was heard in the room, and tongues of fire appeared above the heads of the disciples, who then began speaking in tongues.

Those tongues were actual languages

I visited one for three weeks, happy I left when I saw all the love bombing, asking for money all the time...if you didn't faithfully pay your taxes you were not the same status... I said I wanted to volunteer and when I couldn't attend because of work (my excuse), they kicked me out lol Happy I understood they were acting like a cult.
