thank you! i hope this helps. the battle i’ve had with my mind when it comes to basketball has been so difficult. it extends beyond club and highschool games. i get nervous and in my head for even just random pickups. my mind continuously feels like everyone is watching and judging in every single basketball setting where other people are involved and it makes it so i’m thinking about every little move i do. i havent had freedom from my mind since way back in elementary when i used to get 20 pieces effortlessly

You have no clue how much this helped. I never realized how much it actually helped until earlier. I'm a shooter and recently I've been going 0/7 and just missing everything and even airballing on a daily basis in practice. I was thinking my shot was broke trying to fix it and being worked up. My dad told me take a minute and breath to get out my own head. Then this video also helped.

I always overthink and then I get distracted and mess up and someone gets mad at me. Then I think about them getting mad at me and I constantly try not to mess up again and I mess up and the process repeats itself and it’s annoying.

The key is to focus on your physical body, your movements, and the energy inside of you rather than getting stuck in your head. How does the ball feel in your hands? How does the air around you feel as you run down the court? How does your energy feel when someone makes you upset during a play? Focus on these instead, and the problem of overthinking unwinds itself. Simon DeepGame

Def needed this. First week of basketball summer camp and I feel like I’m in a slump. I didn’t do spring league due to loss of a family member and so coming back I’m temporarily back with Frosh/soph ands upsetting being away from all my friends, then going into games and we totally SUCK I get even more frustrated, and today (two games back to back, 20minute halves with 1minute break) and we have only 6 people, I legit want to cry and quit. Needed something to help me calm down and just remember, summer is for practice, just try my best, play the game. Thanks.

I always have mental block when playing the things I like. Like basketball , guitar , soccer etc . At first I thought i didn’t practice enough but when I practiced like crazy this problem still happened whether if it was basketball, guitar or whatever . This annoys me.I always try to relax my mind but I keep forgetting about it every time .Now I want to practice this relaxation more often and never forget. This is why it’s so important to have a mental strength .

Luckily, what you're thinking won't matter so long as you actually put in reps running that play. If the time during practice is not enough for you, do some more after or before practice on the plays you're having trouble with. Just ignore the thoughts about them being too "simple" or "complicated" - that won't matter - Simon, Team DeepGame

I'd spend some time before and after practice working on those things on your own (or with a teammate or assistant coach who you trust) so that you can get better at them with less pressure. You could also ask your coach for help outside of practice, so that you better work on what you need to do. He might appreciate that - Simon, Team DeepGame

Hey there.. DONT give up from that! Is basketball something you love playing? is it a passion for you? YOU alone didn't cost the championship.. Realistically we should never fear failing your life will continue, if you fail on monday then you wake up on tuesday and try again. if you fail on tuesday then you wake up on wednesday and try again. you keep trying until you succeed. this goes the same with success, if you succeed on wednesday then you wake up on thursday and succeed again.

I’m hooping during school infront of my coaches during the period and I’m playing passive and nervous. I’ve watched a lot of videos saying use positive affirmations to fight nerves and I’m trying to think while I’m playing but I can’t. I know I got the most skill because I’ve practiced more than anybody on varsity but my game is not translating and I’m trapped in my mind. Today I played and every time I play like trash I feel like Endming myself. What should I do?
