This song along with "Lovecats" and "Lets Go To Bed" gave The Cure a commercial breakthrough, which was very important for their further existence. Bassist Gallup had just left the band and even Robert doubted that The Cure would stay alive. So they had a dramatic change in style, from the very dark album Pornography and to these "pop"-singles. They were later included in the album "Japanese Whispers".

Interesting background to this track. By 1983, Robert Smith was looking for a new sound to get away from the Goth style of the previous few years. He decided to go for an electro pop sound with a Japanese vibe. He was impressed by Japan's (the band) Tin Drum album and sort out it's producer Steve Nye to help them. Their collaboration produced this track. Interesting side note, The Cure (known as the Easy Cure at the time) won a talent contest in 1977 and Japan were runners up!
