The reasons I love the Cure are the same and also different. Their music is fantastic, Robert Smiths voice also. The best ‘thing’ about them is that they are the only band that has it all. It can be depressive, deep, funny, pleasant, (make you) happy, etc. The Cure has all emotions, good, pleasant, bad in them. That makes them the best.

The Cure is one of the greatest bands in the history of music. They are exquisitely unique and frankly unrepeatable. Though Robert Smith and company have influenced scores of bands that have followed they have created music that is so intensely magical and so deliciously soul invigorating it’s almost impossible to try and define it I’m sure that my story with this band is no different than your own. They were one of the musical institutions that saved me in the youthful coming of age period of deep confusion and overpowering despair that is high school. Robert Smith is one of the most gifted poets and singers of any era going back centuries. Professor of rock - 2020.

Great music is absolutely timeless and ageless. We loved them in the 80s and loved this song. We enjoyed it in our cars, enjoyed it at parties and the frequently visited new wave clubs, places where we could be ourselves, enjoy the music as we called "ours" and met others who had the same passion. Robert Smith, himself, said that the Cure wasn't goth, but I respectfully disagree. A lot of Goths (especially elder Goths like me) don't consider them Goth, either, but their sound and their aesthetic prove otherwise. So what if some of their songs are happy? Being Goth doesn't necessarily mean having to listen to only depressing, dreary, funeral dirge music. Don't confuse us with Emos, thank you.
@wesleybrown43977 ай бұрын
How weird because they have dark songs
@zoeherriot2 ай бұрын
The thing is, they weren’t goth because goth didn’t exist when they were writing their most recognizable goth tunes. They essentially (along with a few other bands), wrote the quintessential goth albums, and by the time the world caught on, they’d moved past it. The goth label is retroactively applied to them, because in hindsight we can see how they were part of that origin, but Robert doesn’t see it that way.

That's Lol Tolhurst. He is a legend. These two met one another when they were 5 years old at school. Their friendship/brotherhood is a cool albeit heartbreaking story

I love the procrastination in lyrics... Putting off the question the other doesn't want to ask first. Genius, The Cure as always... 🎄
