@@Seloliva1015 Due to his insecurities, I don't think "cute" was ever factored into Chihiro's perception of himself or the girl persona that he would adopt. Given how timid he was, it could be that the idea of dressing up like a girl was less so his first choice, and more like a sort of last resort that he opted for out of desperation due to how horrible the bullying he endured as a boy was. Granted, THAT didn't exactly help since his problem wasn't resolved. It was only buried inside. Still, based on what Chapter 2 of the first game shows us + his free time events with Makoto + his extra events in V3 (and I think Danganronpa S?), Chihiro wouldn't have regretted going back to being a boy. Sure, Chihiro was scared of revealing that he was a boy to everyone else, but he still wanted to change for the better. His resolve to become strong and improve himself suggests that Chihiro was willing to gradually take steps towards being the best and truest version of himself.

@@judgementcup6083 (i havent played DV3 or DS) I know that Chihiro's story is supposed to be about masculinity and how he struggles with it, and weakness, just very exagerated becoused Dangan is exagerated. But, probably becouse I am trans, knowing how hard it is to change genders, in a bit more realistic setting, the ease with which he changed to "escape" means to me that he is queer of some kind. Becouse not being masculine doesn't mean being feminine. To begin with if he finds "relief" in feminity, maybe he doesn't need to go back to being masculine, even if he thinks that he should or he wants. He is also very young, so he could decide in the future, after solving the issues of feeling weak, that now he gets to chose wichever gender he prefers. But the writters probably didn't mean any of those implications xd. I still like Chihiro, and they can tell the story that they want too.

They are both assigned a gender at birth but struggle with enjoying that gender because they don't conform to the traditional look of that gender. Sakura talks about how she shouldn't engage in any "feminine" emotions like love because it's unbecoming of a role she sees as masculine. Chihiro, on the other hand, felt weak and fragile as a result of the bullying they faced, so they tried to "hide" this by presenting themself as a woman. In both scenarios it's a society pushing their beliefs onto the characters to make them fit in and conform. Sakura because of her duty to her family, and Chihiro due to the dangerous environment they were in. Chihiro might change if they got away from that dangerous environment, or they may have chosen to continue as a girl. But in the case of the info we have, it seems Chihiro does see themself as a boy or even nb based on how alter ego, a supposed near perfect clone of Chihiro who might actually be haunted by Chihiro, identifies as "not girl".

(As a side note though: since Chihiro *himself* never brought it up and neither did Chihiro's dad when you meet him, I think it's safe to say that he both loved and accepted Chihiro for who he was. As for Chihiro's bullies I imagine that they just lost interest in messing with him, I imagine part of the enjoyment the bullies had in messing with him is in knowing that it bothered him but since he started to actively dress like a girl their bullying lost it's effect. Granted Chihiro was still insecure about his looks but from the bullies perspective once Chihiro started to dress like a girl, what could they possibly say about that? The guy they made fun of for looking feminine is now actively dressing like a girl, their victim despite his insecurities about it ended up embracing the thing they were making fun of him for, what could they possibly say to him after that? I'm also not surprised that it became easy for Chihiro to pass off as a girl, given his looks and meek personality people just sorta automatically assume he's a girl and Chihiro doesn't really confirm nor deny their assumptions.)

Im am pretty sure no one in their entire life found the best way for them to escape bullying was fake social transitioning lol. 1:29 but Makoto what if Chihiro just moved to a new area and his parents could have allowed it cause I mean Chihiro could have vented to his parents about the bullying a few times so his parents would understand that the school Chihiro was going to would be a toxic environment for Chihiro so they wouldn't question about it so much and in UDG Chihiro's dad cleary didn’t have anger towards Chihiro cross dressing.
