I couldn’t hate on sonic. I still consider him the best fav player til this day. He isn’t known for one game franchise neither. Skullgirls, Dbfz, MK9, MKx, MK11, Injustice 1 and 2. Evo grandfinalist at the least with top placements in almost every tournament. He plays the meta because he’s flying all the way around the country trying to win every tournament he can. His understanding of the game is insane.

You could argue duelist Liu Kang or Sonya Demo was so broken but who had the execution to pull it off in a real match unless you specialized in it

That system was trash, and for most characters added little to no new gameplay or just made them worse to play a niche. I think like 10ish character All had variations that drastically changed the gameplay Also Tbh the rosters are about the same across all the games.

Sonic mained Batgirl in IJ1 (when the META was Zod, Martian Manhunter), mained Erron Black in MKX (when the meta was Mileena, Takeda but I'll give you this one cause Erron was pretty broke pre-nerf), mained Captain Cold and Joker (when they were literally considered some of the worst characters in the game, with him winning MANY tournaments causing people to change their minds about these characters),(also to mention the FINAL INJ2 pro series had Sonic beating Rewind in a Joker vs Batman match up and Batman was often considered a top 1 char by the end of INJ2, while Joker was considered mid-tier at best), and him playing Rain and putting him on the map in MK1's first ever pro comp (when the META was quite literally Raiden/Cyrax or Baraka/Cyrax). At this point, just say you're a hater bro cause at least with that you can be baseless
