Specifically the 3 dependencies are Dependencies of the Crown of England. Of course the "Crown of England" is subsumed in the Crown of the UK. The Monarch holds positions in the Dependencies because (s)he is Queen of England rather than of the whole of the UK. Elizabeth II is Duke of Normandy (in union with England) and that part of the Duchy of Normandy in Union with the Crown of England is the Channel Islands (the two Bailiwicks) and their dependencies (ie. Falklands was not founded by the Spanish first. The french and British were there before the Spanish Arrived. Spain just sailed in with an Armada and took them through Colonial aggression. Britain threatened Spain with War unless they returned the Colony and Spain gave it back. Eventually Spain gave up its claim leaving Britain as the first and only remaining claimant. The British were the first humans on the island, the had a full time settlement there 75 years before Argentina existed as a country and there have been Brits living their uninterrupted for hundreds of years. Argentina's only claim is that they want them.
@Videosss-ei1dx

That´s a lie, the first humans in the islands were from France, then it came the British, but the terrotory was from France. Then France gave the terrotory to Spain. After that, a few years later Argentina was an independent country in 1816, so they gained the territory colonized by Spain, which that means Falklands were Argentinian at that point. In 1833 UK invaded Falklands and usurped the islands.

@@Videosss-ei1dx Nope, British were the first humans to ever step foot on the islands and first to claim them. Captain John Strong of the HMS Welfare On 27 January 1690. Also, Spain did not give the Islands to Argentina. When Spain left after their own attempt at colonial aggression, Argentina claimed them them by right of.... more colonial aggression. But Britain were the first humans, the first claimants and continually defended their sovereignty for hundreds of years. Then in 1850 Argentina formally renounced its claim in the Arana-Southern treaty and didnt mention it again for another hundred years until it was dredged up for use as a political diversion.

The Island the map labels as the British Indian Ocean Terroritory is actually called Diego Garcia, I've been their during my service in the Royal Marines. It's little more than the remains of a volcanic atoll, quite literally the rim of an extinct volcano's crater that forms a deep lagoon. It's one of the few places in the region deep enough for US aircraft carriers to dock for resupply making it a very strategic location for the US naval presence in that part of the world.

The Falkland War was indeed the shortest war of all history: 24 hours. But what you have technically forgotten is the fact that some countries, such as Nauru, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and so on do still have the queen as a supreme governor. So technically speaking it is still ruled by Great Britain.

Just a quick note from someone from Jersey. We're a Bailiwick (containing surrounding uninhabited islands and rocks collectively named Les Dirouilles, Les Écréhous, Les Minquiers, and Les Pierres de Lecq), with our own financial, legal and judicial systems. We're have our own agreement with the EU - we're a third country, although we rely on the UK for our international relations and defense. We have our own currency, notably the 1 pound note (you can use UK money over here but you can't use Jersey money in the UK). We have our own political system (States of Jersey) but we have the Lieutenant Governor, who is the personal representative of the Queen. We're also *not* part of the UK. In recognition for help given to him during his exile in Jersey in the 1640s, King Charles II gave Vice Admiral Sir George Carteret, bailiff and governor, a large grant of land in the American colonies in between the Hudson and Delaware rivers, which he promptly named New Jersey. We were (along with Guernsey) the only place in Britain to be occupied by the Nazis in WW2.
