I would love to see an open play deck like they have in Warcry. Having twist cards that has weather conditions etc would help add flavour to non competitive games quickly.

Great summary. No argument here on the need to update SpecOps. I’m personally hoping for more Ashes of Faith style narrative boxes, maybe with linked missions. Daemons would be the team I’m keenest see or maybe Slaanesh noise marines.

Great video thank you. Recently, and after more than 20 years I decided to get back into the Hobby. I was happy to find both Kill Team and Warcry as new games that both can be played faster and have a lower cost of entry but I didn't know what to choose so I watched videos like this one. I also watched many battle reports and in the end I decided to go with Warcry. I haven't even received my models in the mail so I have nothing to play with but here's what I saw in battle reports. At the end of Kill Team games most players reaction is "Oh I forgot he had this weapon or, I forgot this rule" It seems that the game has far as rules is not as accessible as Warcry. What do you think? Having more rules does make a game more tactical and I like that but not at the cost of spending all night reading my roster and my opponents. How do you feel about this? Maybe make a video comparing Kill Team and Warcry? Keep going good job.

I have heard it said hat GW was not expecting Kill Team to be as successful as it is and so now they’re releasing kits that were meant for 40k because they didn’t have a long road map (example Striking Scorpions and Scouts)

I don't recall there was a jungle killteam terrain iirc, so that may be the new "environnement" they mentioned : natural outdoor, jungles, hills and mountains, forest, snow valleys or something

It was in the enhanced terrain rules article for Kill Team in White Dwarf 478 which included the “Dense” trait for woods. Nothing much more than that which is why we think a specific jungle kill zone with more expansive rules could be a good way to go!

Hi, I am looking to get back into Warhammer and Kill Team after about 3-4 years away from the tabletop side of the hobby. The books I have for it are now outdated, so I plan to buy the Kill Team core book and conpendium from my local GW store or on the website. Do you think it's safe to buy these now, or is killteam due to overgo some changes in the near future in the same vain as 10th edition? The last thing I'd want to do is buy them now and then in a few weeks or months they become outdated! I understand it's all just speculative mostly, but thanks a lot for any input!

Games Workshop games tend to run on a 3 year cycle and the vast majority of us are expecting a new edition of Kill Team to launch next year (probably a round summer). Based on what we’ve seen with Warcry (basically the fantasy version of Kill Team), the expectation is the next edition will be pretty similar to the current one and will be more of a “tidy up” edition. Regardless, even by this edition’s standards the compendium is pretty out of date.

What I want for season 3 isn't a new terrain style, but terrain interaction for the ones we already have. I want fuel barrels to blow up, shooting doors off, demolishing vantage points with grenades etc

​@YYC_RZA no gw genuinely doesn't make it easy to even find rules. When you click on kill team rules and it only gives an update pdf that's a problem. If you search more you will find 'quick rules' but you got nothing for your factions. If you google it in frustration WAHAPEDIA and reddit are the first things that come up. It's bad.

I'm of a mind with you; some more environmental/field aspects would be very very welcomed. Pick up games I've seen are already including them as house rules. Not always balanced of course, but it does make the game more enjoyable. Oh, and BUFF MAH KROOTS, PLS!

I have no idea how Kill Team works but from my understanding I think I’m just a bit hesitant that, as a T’au player, I just won’t be able to use my mechs 😭 I guess I’m just kinda stuck waiting for 11th edition to hopefully do alternating activations or something…

I forgot to mention Kill Team is my favorite game, I own all the bespoke teams. It’s just that Warcry kinda wins by default by being GW’s best game with that award.

@GarredHATES From what I’ve seen of the Warcry rules and what I’ve heard, it sounds like a great game. I’m curious though as to the size of the player bases- anecdotally there isn’t much of a scene around where I play which kinda conincides with the smaller box sizes GW now does for Warcry so I’m curious as to the game’s true popularity. I really like the sound of the more narrative nature of it but I’m not a huge fan of the aesthetic so haven’t ventured into it (not that I’d have time to).

@@GrimdarkGamers Ye, AoS as a whole through out all the games is less popular than 40k. I dabble in it here and there. theres games going on in the Discord but I can tell you the 40k realm is far more active.

@@GrimdarkGamersWarcry is much _tighter_ in its ruleset. Can be quite fun if you enjoy a more chess like game, but narratively it's very dry. If you think you don't care about your dudes in Kill team, you'll be horrified by how little you care about them in a Warcry "campaign". I love the game but only ever play it casually in matched play style. Also the balance in warcry is similar to most GW games - absolutely wild.

Kill team suffers from a bit of an issue with the seasons and explaining to new players what they need, etc… I really wish GW would have a single core book with everything you need to play including core lists, etc… and leave it alone. I know hobbyists like to have lots of options etc… but new players looking at a shelf of book with nonsense lore names is an issue.

How would you rate the "Ashes of Faith" campaign?

Ooooooo, we didn’t even mention that, and there’s a perfect point where we could have in the video as well! Unfortunately we can’t rate the Ashes of Faith campaign because we were never able to secure a copy due to the supply chain issues we mentioned :(.

@@GrimdarkGamers Ah, that sucks... The KT boxes in Germany lasted longer then a few minutes (like 30 something) so I managed get a copy but I only manage to get together with my buddy for a game of Kill Team 2-3 times a year so I had no chance to play it so far.

Guys...no offense but Bespoke is traditionally used as a physical/material custom piece while it works when you say for instance "A bespoke Kill team" It doesn't work when you are talking about a list or rule. It just seems like that is the new word everyone is using wrong these days, and you can make a drinking game every time you say it in this show... Other than that great episode. 🙂

None taken mate, from a lexicological perspective you are correct. The use of "bespoke" here is intentional and rather than being indicative of true semantic shift which requires a much larger adoption from the linguistic norm, it is used as the accepted nomenclature within the Kill Team community to help distinguish the different design philosophies in teams, hence the widespread use you're noticing. I hope that clarifies things.
