Meet Rony, the baby Malayan Tapir born at Chester Zoo on 18th July. By Christmas, he’ll have mostly lost his spots and stripes, and his white patch will have come through. Isn’t he the cutest thing you’ve ever seen!?

Bit of a weird side note but Charles Darwin (although a couple centuries later) used to eat one of every animal he discovered, purely to find out what it tasted like, included Pumas, Tortoises and Armadillos

I live in Chester and go regularly to the zoo (I have a membership), so glad you had a great time! It's such a huge place that you definitely have to go more than once to see all of the animals! My mum loves the Malaysian tapirs and calls them "panda pigs"!

I think I had only seen the brown ones up until now (or at least in baby format) some how. I knew of the Malayan Tapir but hadn't seen the babies before. I think they are even cuter when it is a black and white watermelon!
