Same here, sand paper only. I tried a couple of 3M perfect it creams and was not impressed and they were somewhat expensive.

it works much better with a wool pad, we have used it since the 1970s and it works great when properly used, unlike most compounds today it has no fillers that wash away. It cuts great and when followed with a less aggressive compound and a foam pad it makes the job faster and leaves no sand scratches. the super duty compound was never designed to be used with a foam pad, it was invented before foam pads existed.
@STILLNIGHTPEARL2 жыл бұрын
This compound is made to be used with a heavy cutting twisted wool pad on a rotary between 1600-2000 rpms, that’s where this compound really shines, it levels like crazy, but it does leave a horrible haze that can be cleaned up with your usual second step. The foam pad and DA method in this video didn’t do it Justice, a 3 inch twisted wool pad on the rotary would’ve blown through those 1000 grit marks with ease.
@gerridhodges40846 жыл бұрын
Man great reviews!! I would just like to add my 2 cents worth. There is no point in a heavy cut compound finishing down well and who cares if it leaves a haze. If your using something with this heavy of a cut its going to be a 2 step deal so the second step is going to remove the haze, swirls left behind anyway. I painted cars sand and buffed cars for years using 3m products rotary with wool or foam pads. In the cutting phase getting it cut down is all that matters. Your not going to beat rotary and wool to cut it down quick. I just want the cutting compound to cut and cut quick. All the bells and whistles leaving no haze, smells good lol it just doesn't matter at the end of the day. Compound needs to cut and cut fast...

You wana use a lot of stuff crank your speed up to like 2000 rpm and keep it wet and use a rotary buffer and work it like your sanding it some works great on boat stuff.

Dont let it get dry on you or it leaves serious scratches. Use lots of pressure

This is what I don't understand about compounds and polishes. If you're wet sanding with 3000 grit can't you go right into a medium cut polish with a medium pad and then a finishing polish (might be the same polish) with a fine pad? Because if these compounds can remove 1500 or 1200 grit sanding marks then there's no need to use 3000 grit. If you do can't you skip the compounding step and just make it a 2 step paint correction? I was just curious. Never used a rotary before but it's something I want to get into. Looking to do my own car.

Brian last year I used this compound with a rotary and wool pad on a 1999 Ford Mustang GT. The car was very neglected. I was very disappointed in this compound. I had about the same results as you but more dusting. Not a good choice on my part. Had to finish up with Menzerna 400 and 3000.

What are you impressions on 3m imperial compound and finishing material. Someone dropped off the bottle and if I open it, its $100. I already have a bottle of sonax cutmax, meguiars ultimate and the new koch chemie but I was looking for something heavier to add to my line up. Have not tested the koch as yet but I find the sonax just doesn't go as deep as say the meguiars m105 but I hate using the 105 because of the added labour cleaning up the cracks.

Great videos by the way,very,very detailed,no pun intended!👍
@raulvargasmesina88066 жыл бұрын
TJ i work only with cutmax and menzerna, cutmax needs to be used with Foam Pads in a dual or excentric and with wool in a rotary, If you use wool in a da with cutmax THE pad will gonna stay sticky and saturated

I love this test you’re doing but I’m a little confused as to why you have that Wizards Mystic Cut under honorable mention when as far as I can see it’s outperformed all the products so far? I have that, hd cut, zephyr gloss, m105, Hyper compound, fg400, cutmax , The Last Cut, V32, v34 and I would put that wizards up against any of them and the price is about average...🤔
@williamparris98356 жыл бұрын
I shouldn’t say put up against any of them. It’s all subjective for the most part and of course there’s other variables at play but as far as your test it honestly just seemed like it outperformed the others
