As a native of North Walnut St, I can tell you that when they filmed the movie, the old cotton mill (cannon mills) was still there in operation. Since, they have torn it down and built the research park. But that was the original mill in the movie. During the mowing the grass scene, you can see the old guard shack in the background where the employees checked in for work. My grandfather lived at 609 N Walnut and would walk there to first shift every single day of his life. And just FYI, at the time it was the largest cotton mill in the world.

Dale Earnhardt Sr was the greatest stock car racer ever..anywhere.. hands down!!!! The coolest Intimidator and was always chasing the Sunday Money!!!! It completely shattered my heart when he died and for me, on that day, NASCAR died too. I love Jr as well and when he retired that really done it for me with NASCAR because there's not a single Earnhardt in the line up now. Dale Sr made NASCAR fun and exciting to watch. My ex husband is from that area and so is my family (both parents). I've met Martha Earnhardt several times, sweet and kindest lady anyone would ever want to meet ( RIP Martha, you are with your husband, son and other family dear lady ♥). Take Care Everyone.

Thanks for creating. I was in the front stretch grandstands that day (right at the start/finish line), and while I wasn't particularly a Dale fan... I saw how awesome he was that entire weekend. I didn't watch NASCAR consistently after that for over 15 years. Don't know why but he made a impact. Great stuff sir

It's not the number 3 itself that they were infringing on, but the font and the style. Notice the title number 3 in the movie looks nothing like the style and font of the 3 that is associated with Earnhardt. Sam Bass designed Earnhardt's 3 and I remember reading somewhere (Stock Car Racing magazine?) that supposedly he and Earnhardt had a little tiff over how it was leaning. Bass had it leaning to the right at first and Earnhardt supposedly said "Look at somebody running... you don't see them leaning backwards, they lean forward!"

@@DukeTheRebelyou are right and alot of people don't even think about his 1st #3 car was a Pontiac & his 1st actual race car was a pink car!!Ford's are the exact reason how Dale ended up back at RCR cuz Ford couldn't keep a good motor up under Dale without them blowing the engine!!!Can't stand when someone gets on here stating stuff that is not true & don't have a clue what they're talking about like they really had that info wrong on the board with the #2 car!!He sure don't know much if thinks that's really not a Monte Carlo!!😂😂

Makes Zero sense that Theresa doesn't honor Dale in some way . Why wouldn't she want the public to be able to pay there respects to him . Instead you just lock Dale away from the world and act like a spoiled child . He would be ashamed of how she has handled things after his death with Him , his children , his company and his racing cars / trophies and mementos . One of the strangest things I have ever seen . He should be honored the same way Elvis was !

Dale Jr drove the 8 car for DEI but after car problems and arguments with Teresa Earnhardt, Dale Sr wife who became owner of DEI after Dale Sr died. Jr decided to leave the team to join Hendrick Motorsports owned by Rick Hendrick who bonded with Jr right away due to the fact Rick lost his son a former nascar driver Ricky Hendrick in a plane crash. Fun Fact: Jr wanted to drive the 28 for Hendrick motorsports but could since Robert Yates wanted to keep the number but he was willing to give his other number 88 that why he drove 88 for Hendrick Motorspots till his retirement in 2017. You should totally check out Dale Jr podcast the Daily download. Fun Fact: there is a Minor league baseball team is in Kannapolis, North Carolina, they were originally called the Kannapolis Intimidators but due to Teresa filing a lawsuit toward the team and the MLB for them to change names to the Cannon Ballers with there mascot having clear resemblence to Dale Sr. Also DEI no longer exists
