I've always thought that if it weren't for Davros, Skaro would've birthed Cybermen instead. Similar backgrounds of environmental catastrophe and desperation, but very different political views

The big difference isn't Davros. Davros didn't even come up with the original idea of mutation and what not. The difference between Skaro and Mondas is reason. Mondas is just unfortunate, a dying world. The people had nothing to do with the reason why their planet and environment is the way it is. They are doing what they think is necessary to survive first and foremost. There is no emotion but that. Skaro on the other hand is a dying world because of it's inhabitants. The beliefs have become hateful, both Thals and Kaleds bore such hatred for one another. The difference is the fact that Daleks were not born out of the pure desire to survive but with the hatred to ensure that nothing else does because it is so hostile. For the Daleks the destruction of all life is a fundamental part of their survival. The cybermen believe they are helping everyone with what they do, disposing of rogue elements in order to ensure they can help more people (which obviously means becoming like them). They aren't interested in wiping out life to survive but changing so everyone can.

I thought Daleks were first referred to as Travel machines and then Davros later renamed them to Daleks in Genesis of The Daleks. Also The Doctor uses this fact to convince one of the scientists that he is from the future.

The implication I think was that the casing housing the daleks was essentially a modified version of a personal tank the Kaleds called a Mark 3 Travel Machine. The word 'Dalek' comes from a very esoteric piece of Skarosian lore written by the then extinct Dal people iirc. Even if Davros isn't being an unreliable narrator here with his account, him and Shan being the only people in the science division to know of the term would be very likely.

Why dose davros need to be a fraud? That he stole the idea of the daleks from someone else? Why? Isnt it enough that hes a lair a murderer uses torture and emotional blackmail and destoyed his own race? Why dose he need to be a fraud who stole his idea from someone else? It just cheapens his character.

Davros isn't a fraud - Shan was a member of the science division who worked under him. She suggested the initial concept of the Dalek creature, but Davros was the one who created the technology, performed the experiments, and ultimately brought the Daleks into being

@@dalekbumps why is that nessecery? Watching genisis I just figured davros got the idea of the daleks from well himself. As he himself has mutated and despite being crippled still see himself as better than the rest of the kaleds. Story wise what purpose dose Davros getting the idea from someoneelse serve? Why not also make Nyder Ronson's nephew? Back story wise I'd much rather see the time Davros made an implant for Kravos's heart. Since its Davros doing something nice. Why did he do that? Did he gain anything? If nothing it built on things on genesis there is 0 implications that the daleks were anything but Davros's idea.

@@nifralo2752 I think its riffing off the fact that often fascist leaders build their entire ideology around contemporary thinkers. All the most famous fascist leaders in history were inspired by thinkers who came before them. Why should Davros be any different?

I think it's a good commentary on facism and right wing ideologies, they mock inferiors and others but need stuff from those inferiors to get anywhere

It’s revealed in the I,Davros series that at an early age, Davros was already fascinated by genetic mutations and evolutionary adaptation. Shan’s Dalek solution just reignited his old passions.
